The first case of someone in China suffering from Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, can be traced back to November 17, according to government data seen by the South China Morning Post. Chinese authorities have so far identified at least 266 people who were infected last year, all of whom came under medical surveillance at some point. Some of the cases were likely backdated after health authorities had tested specimens taken from suspected patients.Interviews with whistle-blowers from the medical community suggest Chinese doctors only realized they were dealing with a new disease in late December.

Scientists have been trying to map the pattern of the early transmission of Covid-19 since an epidemic was reported in the central China city of Wuhan in January, two months before the outbreak became a global health crisis.

Understanding how the disease spread and determining how undetected and undocumented cases contributed to its transmission will greatly improve their understanding of the size of that threat.

According to the government data seen by the Post, a 55 year-old from Hubei province could have been the first person to have contracted Covid-19 on November 17.

From that date onwards, one to five new cases were reported each day. By December 15, the total number of infections stood at 27 – the first double-digit daily rise was reported on December 17 – and by December 20, the total number of confirmed cases had reached 60.

On December 27, Zhang Jixian, a doctor from Hubei Provincial Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, told China’s health authorities that the disease was caused by a new coronavirus. By that date, more than 180 people had been infected, though doctors might not have been aware of all of them at the time.

By the final day of 2019, the number of confirmed cases had risen to 266, On the first day of 2020 it stood at 381.

While the government records have not been released to the public, they provide valuable clues about how the disease spread in its early days and the speed of its transmission, as well as how many confirmed cases Beijing has recorded.

Scientists are now keen to identify the so-called patient zero, which could help them to trace the source of the coronavirus, which is generally thought to have jumped to humans from a wild animal, possibly a bat.

Of the first nine cases to be reported in November – four men and five women – none has been confirmed as being “patient zero”. They were all aged between 39 and 79, but it is unknown how many were residents of Wuhan, the capital of Hubei and the epicentre of the outbreak.

Lord, hidden things always get exposed.
When people eat bats and keep meat out in open markets to serve this can be alarming.
Lord, reverse the curse of Covid-19 to release Psalm 91 as your people’s promise as a shield, in Jesus’ name+

Dear God, please bless our President, Vice President and all the people working to bring this virus to an end. Give them supernatural strength and wisdom and people helping them on every side. Bless IFA for reporting truths to us that we cannot find in main stream media. Bless Samaritan’s Purse and Franklin Graham for sending a field hospital to NYC. Bless Mike (the founder of My Pillow) for his contributions to help with COVID-19, even though he has been hated by the media for being a Christian. Bless all our first responders who are having to make tough decisions. Bless at home caregivers who have no one coming in to relieve them during this quarantine. Help people who were already overwhelmed at home, prior to this outbreak, but are now utterly exhausted. God, as people are out of work and gangs are congregating to plan crimes, please reveal their plans to authorities. Stop stealing and “luting”. Deter break-ins. As people are off work and bored men are watching more porn, go into those homes and disconnect the internet or have the channel miraculously change. Lord, help Christians to act like Christians instead of exhibiting the same fear as the rest of the world. Help those of us who have “In God We Trust” or “Not of This World” as our bumper stickers to act like we trust God and act like we are not of this world. Help us to live as though we believe the religion we practice- that our treasures are not on earth, but our treasures are in Heaven. Show us who to give Bibles to and who to mail tracts to and who to reach out to on social media. Let all our social media be filled with praise and glory to You, rather than complaining over missed ball games or events. For those of us who call ourselves Christians, help us to remember that God has told us from the beginning of time that troubles would come (John 16:33). But, troubled times are when we can rise up and display our faith in God so that many are brought into the kingdom. When we stand before God, in eternity, help us to be able to say that we used this time as an opportunity to bring many people to salvation. And, thank You for the earlier IFA post about C.S. Lewis- that we should not be weak and worried but spend our time in prayer. Amen
