The backlash and aftermath of Netflix releasing its abhorrent movie CUTIES continues to hurt the streaming services, which is reported to have experienced a rush of cancellations.
Variety reports that research company YipitData found that Netflix’s domestic cancellation rate jumped nearly eight times higher than its average rate in August 2020 only two days after the streamer released the controversial movie.
The company began experiencing cancellations on September 10, the day after the movie was released. It was at this time that #CancelNetflix started trending on Twitter as well.
On September 12, the cancellation rates hit a high, and social media backlash continues today with more cancellations every minute. . . .
When the coronavirus pandemic started in the U.S. back in March, the streaming giant added nearly 26 million new subscribers worldwide. In June, the company reported it had 193 million subscribers worldwide.
Movieguide® previously reported that CUTIES caused an uproar over the artwork Netflix released for the movie, which showed the movie’s young female characters dressed provocatively.
Netflix swiftly apologized for the controversial poster, but refused to acknowledge the problematic content and left the movie on their docket to be released.
Movieguide®’s review of the movie states, “CUTIES is a repulsive, tasteless, mediocre movie that turns underage girls into sex objects. It has a strong, very immoral pagan worldview where tween girls do whatever pleases them, including sneaking into places, not telling their parents where they are or what they’re doing, and similar acts of rebellion.”
The content in the movie verges on pornographic.

STATE ATTORNEYS GENERAL CALL FOR REMOVAL OF “CUTIES”:
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost called for the removal of the film “Cuties” from Netflix, joining a growing list of attorney generals from across the country.
“In this era where we are fighting a seemingly never-ending battle against human trafficking, this film is counterproductive – it whets the appetites of those who wish to harm our children in the most unimaginable ways,” Yost said. “I vehemently opposed the continued streaming of the movie and request that it is voluntarily removed.” . . .
Yost joined Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton today requesting that Netflix remove the film.
Yost wrote a letter to Netflix CEO Reed Hastings.
“This film contains the gratuitous exposure of a young girl’s breast,” Yost wrote in the letter. “Repeated images of eleven-year old children gyrating, “twerking,” and simulating sex in tight, skimpy clothes simply serves as fodder for those with criminal imaginations, serving to normalize the view that children are sexual beings.”
The attorney general said the release of the film is “counterproductive” to the “seemingly never-ending battle against human trafficking.” (Excerpt from WHIOTV7.)

I will never subscribe to Netflix again after they took children and sexualized them. I hope your growing base of pedophiles is worth it to you Netflix. You should be cancelled.

I left Netflix last year I believe. Their movies are not for me. I’m a Christian and I was totally disgusted with what they did with the Anne of Green Gables book/movie. They revamped it and twisted it, part 2, to push for the lesbian LGBQT agenda normaling what the bible is clear about. Homsexual sex is an abomination to the Lord. The land that practices it vomits its inhabitants up. These are h arsh words. But created standards for everything and especially sex which is how human beings are made.
Netflx is part of this sick twisted fallen world. I refuse to have it in my house. I signed the petition thou, because I saw the movie clips on Laura Ingraham. Revolting. I heard the Michelle Obama and Nancy Pelosi made light of it and made comments that were supportive. Check that out thou. If it’s true, they are reprobates just as the producer of this film is.

I have never had Netflix and never wanted it. With the release of the CUTIES movie, and so many cancellations, I am encouraged that the moral compass of many Americans has not slipped away, but is growing stronger with each passing day! I am praying for the Holy Spirit to move through America and do mighty works! May all these innocent children be surrounded by the Lord’s angels and keep them safe and bring those in harm’s way back to their parents!

I cancelled my Netflix and posted condemnation of this movie and sexualizing children on my Facebook page. As an adult survivor of childhood molestation and rape (age 5-8) by a neighbor where I was forced to watch porn, molestation by my 5th grade teacher at age 9, and molestation by my boss at age 14–I am strongly against any sexploitation of children and teens in film. There was no question pornography addiction played a role in these men molesting me. With 1/3 women experiencing rape/molestation as children, we have to do whatever we can to take a stand and pray against pornography and child sexploitation in any form! In Jesus’ name, amen!
We left Netflix a while ago over another objectionable movie they ran.

The invention of TV captured so many of Your people who used to spend time with You , and who invested quality time with friends, neighbors, and family. Yes, we immediately cancelled our Netflix subscription when we saw what this movie was promoting. Our prayer is that the cancellations will continue to flood in and therefore, speak in the most powerful way, that we object and reject this type of child abuse and predator fodder.

I cancelled. The release of “Cuties” was the end of the road for me with Netflix! Our family has never subscribed to Netflix. There is enough garbage on TV without it. I’m happy to know that so many people are cancelling their Netflix subscriptions and opting for family-friendly alternatives, such as Pureflix. This is definitely a step in the right direction. We all need to do whatever we can to fight back against all the evil that is taking over society these days. God is on our side.
I have not had tv in my house for four years! I saw where it became an idol in my home at one point. Didn’t want any part of it again. I have chosen to be in the word much more than I had been and it has been wonderful for me as God reveals truth!!

I just canceled my subscription to Netflix this week. After hearing about the child porn I could not allow our support to continue to this company. Christians need to take a stand for good and not evil. I was so surprised that the salesman didn’t even ask me why I was canceling. I did not realize I was part of a flood of people taking a stand for our children. I am courage anyone who is still supporting them to look elsewhere for your entertainment. There are lots of other choices. I’m just grateful that our youth leader at church alerted us to what was going on. The church needs to be aware of the world and the devil’s schemes. We need to use our power of choice and support Now more than ever. Church rise up!!!

I had been trying to get my husband to cancel Netflix for years because of all of the anti-Christian content. “Cuties” finally did it and he canceled. We need to take a stand for our families and stop supporting ungodly entertainment. I am glad to see so many cancellations and hope that we see more support for clean entertainment, like Pureflix.

I pray that subscribers continue to cancel subscriptions and use their time in different pursuits and cause them to seek Your Son Jesus for salvation and a transformed life. I wasn’t aware of this cuties movie. But for Netflix subscribers I’d highly recommend Pureflix over Netflix.
There is also Faith and Family as a source for replacement for family viewing.

I chose a while ago not to subscribe to Netflix because of who was going to become a part of it. That told me a lot about what kind of movies were going to be shown. This movie only proved my point. More vile productions & ways to tear our nation apart. Keep a watchful eye on those who participate behind the scenes. If they have damaged our nation in the past & brought us harm, it says a lot about where they have been & where they want to take us in the future.
Our family never had a Netflix subscription. As Christians we have challenged the idea that we need entertainment.. We have studied the Bible and we don’t find anything about entertainment for God’s people. They are encouraged to take festive breaks from work and study and the everyday , but these were breaks that celebrated God and His goodness and He was the center. Big difference between that and entertainment. If you take up this challenge you will find that you don’t miss entertainment at all- too many other richer and more rewarding ways to spend your time!
While I am glad that you have found strength and blessing by avoiding all forms of entertainment, be it ungodly or not, please put things into context and be careful not to lead others into thinking it is a sin to enjoy anything outside of explicit scriptures.
There are many forms of entertainment and many “entertainers”, artists, authors , musicians , that love the Lord God with all their hearts, minds, and souls.
Do you not think there were musicians at the wedding Jesus attended? Do you not think Jesus and His disciples would ever stop for a couple of hours, after walking and ministering all day to sit and enjoy a clean and humorous play?

These things and entertainment must not take precedence, must not become our escape , our god, and need to be void of the sinful qualities of the world , but if the entertainment is done in a right and appropriate way, and the Lord is not personally telling you to avoid entertainment, then there is nothing sinful about it. Nor will it destroy your relationship with Him.

I canceled my Netflix subscription days before the announcement of Cuties release,when Netflix announced they were releasing a movie portraying Jesus Christ a a homosexual and Mary as a harlot.
Father, I pray that you will send Your Holy Spirit to speak to the hearts of your people to convict us to be faithful to live holy lives in this pivotal time,and refuse to be conformed to the ways of this world!

I cancelled Netflix last month after reading of this new movie, Cuties. It’s gratifying to learn that so many others have cancelled as well and that government officials took the time to write to Netflix asking for its removal.
