Avowed Socialist Wins NYC Mayoral Primary
Zohran Mamdani, a New York state lawmaker and self-identified democratic socialist, has won the Democratic primary for New York City mayor, upsetting former Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.
With 93% of the votes tallied by The Associated Press, Mamdani garnered 43.5% of the vote, with Cuomo getting 36.4%, community organizer Brad Lander getting 11.3%, and other candidates receiving the remainder.
Cuomo has reportedly called Mamdani to concede the race.
“Today, eight months after launching this campaign with the vision of a city that every New Yorker could afford, we have won,” Mamdani said in a victory speech.
“I will be the mayor for every New Yorker. … I cannot promise that you will always agree with me. But I will never hide from you.”
Mamdani also promised support that, if elected mayor, he will “reject Donald Trump’s fascism” and “stop mass [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] agents from deporting our neighbors.” He vowed to “govern our city as a model for the Democratic Party, a party where we fight for working people with no apology.”
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, elected as a Democrat but is running for reelection as an independent, responded to Mamdani’s victory on his X account.
“What NYC deserves is a mayor who’s proud to run on his record — not one who ran from his record, or one who has no record,” he tweeted.
“We deserve a mayor who will keep driving down crime, support our police, fight antisemitism, and stand up for working-class New Yorkers. It’s time to unite. It’s time to fight. We have a city to save.”
Adams had been indicted last year on allegations that he had received $10 million in bribes and illegal campaign donations from foreign nationals in exchange for favors.
However, the Trump administration filed a motion to dismiss the charges against Adams. District Judge Dale Ho agreed to dismiss with prejudice, meaning the case cannot be brought up again.
Soon after the Trump administration dismissed the charges against Adams, they began an investigation into potential mayoral opponent Cuomo over his controversial decision to place COVID-19 patients in nursing homes during the pandemic.
Cuomo, who resigned as governor in 2021 amid sexual harassment claims, garnered backlash for his decision in March 2020 to send about 9,000 recovering COVID-19 patients to hundreds of nursing homes in New York, possibly causing as many as 15,000 deaths from COVID-19 while the order was in effect, according to The AP.
In May, Rich Azzopardi, a Cuomo spokesman, told The New York Times that he considered the investigation “lawfare and election interference plain and simple — something President Trump and his top Department of Justice officials say they are against.”
“[Cuomo] testified truthfully to the best of his recollection about events from four years earlier, and he offered to address any follow-up questions from the subcommittee — but from the beginning this was all transparently political,” Azzopardi stated.

Lord New York has fallen down and can not get up send a man of God to redirect and overcome Satan’s Schemes one who is able to over turn corruption by the power of your blood and the will of God a man who follows Jesus wise as a serpent-gentle as a dove understanding his assignment for New Yorkers needs not their wills revive your people Lord amen.
Praying for Mandani!!
Dear Jesus, You know who he is. I ask that Jesus would reveal God’s truth to him. That the Holy Spirit will convict Mandani of his sins, that he would repent, and ask Jesus to come into his life and teach him the truth.
But ,in the mean time, I pray for New York City and I ask that a real Christian man would be voted in as Mayor of New York. New York City needs God’s wisdom, help, directions, strength, peace, revelation. New York City has a lot of people. And no one can survive without Jesus. So I am asking, in Jesus’s name, that Jesus will reveal truth, in the physical, Spiritual realm, to these people and give them wisdom to vote for the man who puts Jesus first. Because Jesus has ,” good” plans for everyone, and the plans will work, if people obey Jesus. Because Jesus knows everything. Good, bad, ugly, past, present, future. So May the ,people of New York City trust in the Lord, and then relie NOT on their own understanding, but in all your ways, acknowledge God and He will direct your path. In Jesus’s name Amen
The New Yorkers voted for him, then turned around and looked up the definition of a socialist.
Lord Jesus Mr. Mamdani’s won the democratic nominee to run for Mayor of New York. His values do not align with your plans and word of God. He already is saying that if he wins he will “reject our President Donald Trump’s fascism” and “stop mass[Immigration and Customs Enforcement] agents from deporting our neighbors.” He vowed to “govern our city as a model for the Democratic Party, a party where we fight for working people with no apology.”, he says. As you can see he doesn’t stand for truth but for evil. I pray for you to raise up a leader committed to honesty, integrity, fairness, and justice with Judeo Christian values like you did with President Trump, as Cyrus to run for mayor of New York in Jesus’ name. That he will hear your voice and be led by you in Jesus’ name. Lord God remove the blindness from the people of New York to see this man’s true plans in his heart in your mighty name Jesus. Let them hear crystal clear what he stand for and not have their ears tickled. That people will not be taken by this man’s words but that his words will not take root in people’ hearts in Jesus’ name. Lord God save New York City and save the United States in Jesus’ name. Amen!
In the name of Jesus, It is written, “Thus saith the LORD GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.” amen and amen.
Mayor Eric Adams is a former NYPD officer and was a registered Republican between 1995-2002. He has exited the Democrat Party and is now running as an Independent. And despite some well publicized personal failings, he identifies as a Christian openly, is friendly with and prayed for conservative pastors, AND has always been cordial with Donald Trump. He LOVES New York City, and was already a step up from the disaster that was Mayor Bill deBlasio. Please pray for God to give wisdom about how to best counter Mamdani. Ad hominem and name calling that conservative pundits are so prone to won’t work. It has to be about the ISSUES and why socialism would FAIL to bring about the affordability and renewal of the city so many New Yorkers seek.
Mayor Adams is friendly with and prayed for by* conservative pastors. Correcting typo. Adams has spoken at various prayer breakfasts, and church services often. Citing the loss of God as the reason for all the violence in both his city and in our country.
Please God help the NY city of next mayer elect the right person who will believe in you and honor you and follow your word. Please use him for your purpose next mayer for NY city.
Socialism is transitional to communism.
Christianity is on the whole with socialism and not with individualism. The Christian ideal is for us to be members of a body bound together, making the interests of others of equal value with our own – bound together by faith and service.. Honoring those not by their wealth or position but by how much they had contributed to the common good and easing the suffering of all.
Solidarity = Victory.
Voting = the best defense.
“Abba”, deliver us from evil!
