We received this letter from an intercessor who has been with us from the start and is very excited to celebrate IFA’s 50th anniversary. What is your IFA story? Please share in the comments.
This precious intercessor writes:
I am excited about the 50th anniversary of IFA. Just a message to tell you why.
Who is praying on the wall?
Derek Prince was my spiritual father back in the 60s-plus. My husband was a Baptist pastor in Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., and we received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Derek had heard of our hunger and sent Don Basham to our church for a meeting. My husband received the experience that night and we became a part of the ministry down in Fort Lauderdale.
Those were years of great growth and spiritual fun for us. Our whole church was Spirit-filled.
I remember Derek asking many of us to pray about the burden he had to begin IFA at that time. We were excited and thrilled to be a part of IFA.
We then went to the mission field to Nicaragua and on to Belize. All the time sending small offerings from the field to be a part of IFA.
I am now 94 and married to a minister here in Tennessee and we still send small offerings to the ministry. God has kept me alert, still driving and a full-time Pastor’s wife and serving Him.
Thank God for the work you are doing there and may many others learn the power of prayer.

I have been blessed to know about IFA for a long time because of my relationship with Jay and Sally Fesperman at the Inn of Last Resort in Franklin, NC. Jay was one of the founders of IFA and he was a spiritual father to those of us who had the privilege to sit under his teachings and leadership.
We always focused on prayer during my time at the Inn and have hosted the Appeal to Heaven conference there with IFA for many years.
I trust IFA as an excellent source of spiritually impacting news and prayerful articles and have shared the website with numerous folks for quite a while.
I am excited and honored to attend the 50th Gala this week!!!
We started making donations to IFA in the late 70’s, not sure when and I doubt I have our giving records from back then. I am not sure how we heard about IFA. We will be at the IFA event. Looking forward to hearing all the reports.
I will be unable to attend the event. Derek Prince came to our church in Winter Haven, Florida back in the late 70’s or early 80’s. I don’t remember exactly. I was a new experience to see and heat his ministry. I have been getting his publication for many years and now stay connected through this platform. I see answers to our prayers for our country regularly.

I began praying with IFA in 2020, during the pandemic. I had always felt ill-informed about current events, and knew that i needed a good source of news that I could trust. I am so thankful that i found IFA! I was distraught over the pandemic, the George Floyd riots, the BLM ideology. What was happening to our dear country? I invited several women to pray with me once a week, out on our driveway, and we learned together from IFA what was going on from a Biblical perspective. We still meet as a group on Thursday mornings, to pray for our country and now for Israel. I am so thankful to God for calling me to be an intercessor for such a time as this!
I was blessed to attend an IFA convention in Washington DC in the early 80’s. Joseph Garlington led annointed worship, Charles Stanley was one of the speakers. As a young mother with 3 small children it was a financial challenge for me to attend but my church paid my admission. Now I am retired and still interceding daily for America. It is remarkable to look back over the span of years and see God has fairhfully heard and answered uncountable prayers. Unfortunately the cost of the celebration prevents my attendance and I am sure others cannot afford the travel, hotel, food and admission costs. Perhaps IFA has lost sight of the humble intercessor?
L. Wolverton, what an incredible history with IFA! I never had the opportunity to hear Charles Stanley preach, but I was blessed to hear Joseph Garlington in Colorado Springs in the late 90’s, along with Dutch Sheets and many others. I’m sorry you cannot attend the celebration in DC, and I am praying that God meets you in a special way right where you are. Thank you for your faithful prayers over this nation for so many years! Ps. 37:23
I so appreciate hearing the testimony of the 94 year old intercessor. I’m 82 years old and have such great memories. My husband was career Air Force and we moved twenty-one times in twenty-one years. During those times (it wasn’t as difficult as it might sound) IFA was such a blessing and a great resource. My husband was blessed to have his Holy Spirit experience with Don Basham during what I term our first time in Washington D.C. while he was getting his Master’s Degree at George Washington University. With young children and a compact schedule, it was a very exciting time for us in our faith life. I consider it my introduction for understanding the depths of needed prayer upon our country, and certainly our congress and leaders. I continue to utilize your informational resources, recommending them regularly to my prayer and study groups, as well as praying for IRA and the staff. IFA is such a blessing, I praise God for you!
