A Perspective on October 7
Previously, President Trump set a deadline of 6 PM on Sunday for Hamas to accept his and Prime Minister Netanyahu’s peace deal. Now, two days later, Israel, Jews, and believers around the world remember October 7, the day that Hamas first attacked and plunged Israel into another bloody conflict.
Our eyes are on Israel in this Jewish new year as the Trump administration peace plan is in play and the anniversary of the horrendous Hamas attack on Israel is upon us.

As I reflect upon the horror of Oct. 7, 2023, the day is fading softly into Yom Kippur — known as the Day of Atonement.
Considered to be the holiest day of their calendar, Jewish people around the globe fast and repent for the sins of the prior year.
Israelis also mourn their dead from Oct. 7 and the long captivity of their Israeli hostages, some of whom are also presumed dead.
Hope, however, arose with Hamas’ initial agreement to release all remaining hostages as a part of moving forward with President Trump’s peace plan. This development was announced on Friday, Oct. 3.
Forty-six hostages remain hidden in Gaza’s tunnels or civilian homes, awaiting an end to the armed conflict that has ravaged the region since Israel began a military defense and rescue mission.
A Day of Horror.
Evil burst across the inadequately defended border between Gaza and southern Israel two years ago. Hamas militants ran, drove, and parachuted into the Jewish homeland, murdering, raping, and kidnapping. The terror overtook a music festival, which — disastrously — had extended its celebration another day, providing easy pickings for the terrorists, some of whom disguised themselves in Israeli uniforms. Hamas also breached at least 15 kibbutzim and homes.
Israel was caught woefully unprepared. By the time the rampage was quelled, Hamas and other terrorists had slaughtered 1,195 and kidnapped more than 250.
As is the case with anything connected to Israel, global reaction was mixed. Initially, many nations and people expressed horror and supported the Israeli military move into Gaza, seeking to retrieve hostages and cripple the terrorist organization.
But a sizable and growing population began to inveigh against Israel’s armed response. Strident voices charged Israel — a nation with first-hand experience of genocide — with doing just that against the people in Gaza.
Entrenched Enemies.
Attempts at peace and cease-fires have foundered throughout the drawn-out conflict in Gaza. In Gaza, the Israelis face particular challenges in recovering hostages and hunting terrorists. Hostages have been housed by civilians — some compelled by Hamas and others seemingly willing.
Hamas has used civilians as human shields — hiding in hospitals and other civilian buildings. For Israel, this renders the fight fraught with peril and international disapproval.
Scores of people — including civilians and Israeli military — have died in the past two years.
The dynamics of this conflict shifted dramatically as Israel eliminated Hamas leadership, chopped the head off of a terror attack being planned by Hezbollah, and crippled Iran’s nuclear and weapons stashes.
Political Cost.
Despite being attacked, Israel remains the boogeyman of this conflict for an increasing number of people. Repeated lies and hatred of the Jewish people seem to be prevailing in the international court of opinion.
The United Nations — many of whose employees shamefully participated in the Oct. 7 attack — just presided over a vote to approve a Palestinian state.
The Antichrist Spirit.
Antisemitism began to rise around the globe. America has seen a dramatic spike in attacks against Jewish people. Most recently, two Jewish worshippers were killed when a jihadist rammed his vehicle into a U.K. synagogue and stabbed one person.
Derek Prince, one of the founders of IFA, considered antisemitism a manifestation of the anti-Christ spirit. This spirit powers the ancient rivalry between satan and Christ and His people.
According to Mr. Prince, modern Israel’s founding acted as a lens to focus the hate. He wrote, “The establishment of the State of Israel has merely provided a more politically correct name—antizionism—in place of antisemitism.”
The Curse of Evil.
As a resident of a city that is home to 1.4 million Jewish people, I am well acquainted with the hatred spewed at them.
It breaks my heart.
For my Jewish friends.
For my Savior’s people.
For the haters themselves.
Such hatred is not unseen by the Lord. As the psalmist wrote, “Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.”
As intercessors, we must forgive these haters and seek their repentance in prayer.
Israel Open to Attack.
The events of Oct. 7, 2023, illustrate the deadly consequences to Israel of a two-state solution.
Having ceded the lovely coastline of Gaza to Palestinian control, delivered the biblically significant territory of Samaria (West Bank), and given the strategically critical Golan Heights over to its sworn enemies, Israel has not seen peace — only further attack.
And the Palestinian people in the ceded lands, captive to their terrorist overlords, are pawns and sometimes willing participants in the battle against Israel. Sadly, the governance in the Palestinian Territories has neglected quality of life improvements, which I discovered first-hand as I compared visits to Bethlehem from before the handover to after.
Instead, the Palestinian Authority allowed Hamas terrorists to drive investment, choosing to focus on building tunnels and armaments to attack Israel just as it did on Oct. 7, 2023.
As long as this situation holds, Israel is at risk of further invasion and pillage.
Where is the Peace?
Many are hopeful for some measure of peace since it appears Hamas is willing to accept aspects of President Trump’s peace plan.
The proof lies ahead as we await Hamas’ compliance in returning the hostages, who remain its only advantage in this conflict. Their return renders Hamas without leverage, a calculus the terrorist group surely has in its thinking.
Improvement in the living conditions of the Palestinians does not serve Hamas’ goals, either. For the terrorist groups and many Arab nations, many of which could absorb the Palestinian population, it is quite convenient to point to Israel as an oppressive occupier.
Drafting upon that, the United Nations and other Western sympathizers pile on Israel for its so-called oppression, while ignoring antisemitism and the horrendous Oct. 7 attack.
Blood begets blood.
Conflict between the Arabs and the Jews stems from the sibling rivalry between Ishmael and Isaac.
These enemies have spilled blood over the centuries in the Middle East and, indeed, around the world. It seems almost impossible to believe in lasting peace.
But we must not yield to a sense of fate or futility. For the blood that renders life was also spilt in Jerusalem more than two thousand years ago.
As intercessors, our role is to pray for the Blood of Jesus to pour over the people of the region, bringing peace, salvation, life abundant, and blessing for all parties in the region.
We know the battle is of ancient days, but we also know the war will indeed wind up in a mighty victory one day.
For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace, And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, And her salvation as a lamp that burns.

We are in a more powerful position in this country and can afford to listen to the concerns of people with whom we disagree. Yes, it is not God’s will for Israel to be divided, but He is the Lord of the Palestinian people. He loves them and some are Christians. He cares about their suffering. We need to pray for a break through for them.
Most don’t realize that King Abdullah I of Jordan was killed on July 20, 1951 while visiting the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem by Mustafa Shukri Ashu, a 21-year-old Palestinian nationalist associated with efforts for an independent Palestinian state. Like the United States, Egypt and Jordon are concerned about letting more Palestinians into their countries for fear of political unrest.
October 7 should be a wakeup call for Intercessors! Israel became complacent until the dam broke on October 7. The growing threat from China MUST be faced! What the IFA posts divides this country more. It focuses on internal divisions. We CANNOT face China divided as a country. Healing must take place!
Without supernatural intervention from The God to whom the earth & all that is in it belongs, history shows little evidence of terrorists committing to peace agreements.
It is sad that the Biblical word used for Babylon in Rev. 18-19, caused my comment to be rejected, but thankful that we were able to figure it out.
I just want to say a huge AMEN to the declarations and prayers of both Jesse Blake and Susan Jaquith on the Headline News Prayer Call today. Thank you, Suzie and Lynne, for giving the subject of the October 7 article priority and adequate time! I highly recommend that all intercessors watch it.
(part 3 – due to unacceptable words)
Deut. 32:35 Vengeance and payback are mine for the time when their foot slips; for the day of their calamity is coming soon, their doom is rushing upon them.
Deut. 32:43 “Sing out, you nations, about his people! For he will avenge the blood of his servants. He will render vengeance to his adversaries and make atonement for the land of his people.”
The word ‘vengeance’ is often misunderstood because we equate it with revenge, which is a fleshly desire. It is the Hebrew word, nakah, which is “the executive exercise of power by the highest legitimate authority for the protection of his subjects – not revenge, but a defensive act. Hence, He – the Highest Legitimate Authority – does not take joy in destroying the wicked, but He is the Blood-Avenger – one of the titles of Messiah Yeshua.
May both Israel and the ekklesia, take this warning and this promise very seriously, and respond. Israel to be grafted back in – Romans 9-11 – through accepting their Messiah, and the ekklesia to submit to cleansing from any impurity of idolatry and syncretism. Do a work in this day to accomplish it, Lord.
Abba, we so desire to see the hostages in Gaza released from their unjust bondage and restored to Israel before the end of this Sukkot – to the glory of Your Name, alone!! – so that their joy might overflow. And may this also be an ingathering of the harvest both in Israel and in the nations – the increasing manifestation of “the one new man” of Ephesians 2:13-16.
So beautifully written! Mary Beth–you are a sister of my heart. I always love your prayers. So wonderful to see another Christian CARE. The spiritual apathy in the “church” has been SO incredibly painful to watch! It has also been shocking to hear the words spewed out of “Christian mouths” making them sound like MUSLIMS! (I am still praying for a MIRACLE that BEFORE He RETURNS, He moves in such a way that Anti-Semitism and Replacement Theology is BROKEN off the “church”, so that the PROMISES in Ephesians 4 will FULLY MANIFEST. Surely…the “unity of the FAITH will not only be in the small Global Remnant, right? One can only hope!)
But, as you wrote–there is at least a REMNANT that understands ABBA’s Heart. May He soon be MOVED to compassion for the preservation of
the HOLINESS of HIS NAME…when He repeats what He has done in the past and ROUTS HIS ENEMIES who have taken delight “with the blood between their teeth”. (Zech. 9) The Holy Spirit recently brought me to Psalm 93 whereby it was written, “MIGHTIER and MORE MAJESTIC than the raging waves, the breakers…is YHWH EL ELYON on high.” As you wrote, “How long….O YHWH….how long…”
May He act SOON–especially during this HOLY WEEK when we magnify HIS NAME and ANTICIPATE HIS ASCENDING that DAVIDIC THRONE
when one day when He will TABERNACLE with us again! MERCY! MERCY! MERCY! MERCY! MERCY…come DO what ONLY YOU can DO with SHOCK
and AWE…for our eyes are not looking to human solutions (because we DO WANT ISRAEL to HAVE JUDEA and SAMARIA which is the Biblical Homeland area and they NEED the ROOM to fulfill the 64 Aliyah Promises, as the Jewish people in New York will soon need to FLEE if that horrible man gets elected! ) We wait upon seeing the MANIFESTATION of YOUR MIGHT and MAJESTY …in our day! (Ps. 93).
In Yeshua’s Name-AMEN! AMEN!
Thank you, Michelle. He is bringing the remnant into alignment with the whole counsel of Scripture – as a friend, puts it “from ‘In the beginning’ to ‘He which testifies these things says, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.’ Not a jot nor a tittle will pass away, till heaven and earth pass away and all is fulfilled in Him!
Israel was given a synopsis of their future by Moses in Deuteronomy 32 – and in it we find a warning for both her, the original Light-bearer and for the grafted-in ekklesia. You told them that they had provoked You to jealousy with their idolatry – with non-gods. So You would provoke them to jealousy with a non-people and with a vile nation. Israel is being provoked by a non-people, the palestinians, and by those who support a palestinian “state”. Israel is fighting against the common enemy of both Israel and the ekklesia – those who desire the re-establishment of an islamic caliphate – worldwide dominion through the death, conversion, or subjugation of all those they term to be infidels – specifically Israel (the Saturday people) and ‘Christians’ (the Sunday people). Israel is fighting a physical war, but we as the ekklesia must realize it is our war, too. We may wage it in a different way, but wage it we must. Our brothers and sisters in places like Nigeria are being slaughtered in the name of this non-god. YHVH, the cry from under the altar in heaven is increasing day-by-day – “How long, Oh Lord? How long before You avenge our blood?” (Rev. 6:9-11) This too was prophesied by Moses in Deut. 32 – and will be fulfilled as Rev. 18 & 19:1-2 states, in short, “He has taken vengeance on her (…Babylon) who has the blood of His servants on her hands.”
YHVH, Your people and nation, Israel, have been in dire straits for as long as they have existed, as have Your people, the ekklesia – both called to be Light-bearers by The Covenant and The Renewed Covenant. Darkness hates light, and seeks its destruction – even in its pre-existence (Egypt, slaughter of the babes in Bethlehem). The darkness that seeks the destruction of Light-bearers has been manifested and expressed through many human agents throughout time – the Amalekites, the Canaanites, the Philistines, the Assyrians, the Babylonians, Antiochus Epiphanes, the Roman Empire, the Institutional Church, the Ottoman Empire, and many of the nations of the diaspora – to name only a few. Your Word indicates that eventually all nations will turn against Israel, and the people within those nations will be faced with the ultimate decision – “Will I choose to be a Light-bearer, or will I choose to align with darkness?” This choice is Light or dark – there has never been and will never be any shades of gray! May the pure, unadulterated Gospel go forth from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth, so all may hear and respond.
Father, I join with the many who are praying for peace and for the deliverance for Israel from the destruction the enemy wants to deliver. Draw all hearts to you as the Messiah. Israel and the countries around them are brothers. May they be converted to Jesus.
Lord on this day, we humble our hearts and pray for Israel on this anniversary date of the horrible massacre of our beloved people of Israel who was taken hostage and killed by the enemy Hamas. Bring our remaining hostages back home on this day. We pray for all Leaders to have the wisdom given to each one by you Lord and ask for Peace. Let this war come to an end in this day! You reign Lord and we believe and trust in you alone. You are a jealous God and let no other God’s serve in our countries. Let ALL our people serve the True Living God Only! Bring all the Jews back to their promise land as you have chosen Israel and your people. We love you Lord, we Praise your Holy Name In Jesus Christ and we ask for Peace throughout the World, Amen
Lord , as your people we are never interested in the destruction of flesh and blood. Any flesh and blood that exists was created by your hand. However, when flesh and blood chooses to side with your enemy, our enemy, we must take a stand. We stand against the hand of the enemy, shedding innocent blood. We declare and decree an end to what began on October 7, 2023. May the fear of the One True and Living God fall upon any in Gaza (or anywhere else) who oppose releasing these hostages! May those forces who represent your hand in this situation come to play according to your Will, and the name of our precious Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ! Amen!
father God we ask that your blood be submerged on all the people in that region, that your chosen people eyes, ears be opened to the TRUTH, their hearts be un hardened so they will understand that you Lord Jesus died for their sins and you came to earth to save them. open the eyes of their hears Lord.
amen
Lord I pray Your righteousness would be revealed and you would open the eyes of many unbelievers, to your Truth, goodness and LOVE; especially your Jewish people, but all over the world and particularly leaders. Glory be to your name.
Lord God, may Your will and only Your will be done concerning Israel and the hostages. Those who stand against Israel and who stand firm for a two-state solution to the Gaza problem experiencer the mighty hand of God in this situation. It’s Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven and nothing else.
Lord Jesus, You are aware of the fact that Israel has had a difficult time as a nation. I pray that Your will be done in regards to all of their current issues with Hamas and other groups that are threatening them. Trying to negotiate with terrorists is an exercise in futility. The only thing that they MIGHT understand is total destruction and obliteration. Again, Lord Jesus, I ask for Your will to prevail in this situation. Thank You Jesus.
I agree! But sadly, Brian, that understanding would come too late for their own salvation. May those in the delusion of “hamas” – violence – come to this understanding while they still have the opportunity to repent.
Lord, bring this conflict to a swift end by the breath of Your mouth. Return all the hostages, dead or alive. Bring a lasting peace upon Israel, at least for a season. Lord, do what You need to do to end the hostilities, to end the training of children for war, to end the lies and hate. Save souls in the midst of all the devastation. Protect children. To You be the glory. Let it be known that there is a God in heaven. Thank You, Lord. Amen.
“ You are my King and my God, who decrees victories for Jacob.” Psalm 44:4
“ Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7
Father, Yours is the ultimate victory, You have the final word, Jesus spoke the victory from the cross- “it is finished.” Thank you Father- in Jesus’ authoritative name- Amen!
Wonderful truths. Amen and amen
Lord we ask your deliverance on Israel and freeing of the hostages remaining. We ask for protection of Your people. Please be with those Jews around the world who face more anti semitism than ever before, as well as all followers of Jesus. Your Will be done. 🙏🏻
