There are decision points in our lives and in the life of our nation, where one choice can change the trajectory forever. I believe our nation is in one of those moments, and at this crucial time, many intercessors have grown tired, or even distracted.
Thankfully, we serve a God who can renew our strength, and boy do we need it.

I don’t need to remind you of every dastardly policy coming out of Washington, the poor state of the American pulpit, the all-but-lost war for entertainment and popular culture, or any other range of attacks our nation faces.
They are like soldiers arranged on a hilltop coming down towards us. We are outnumbered, tired, and we feel powerless to do anything.
But again, we have reason to be thankful. That moment of weakness… the point of peril where no human solution can save us…I suspect that is when God most delights in coming to the rescue.
But I am convinced he has ordained a primary method to usher in that rescue, that revolution, that reformation our land so desperately needs:
A repentant, praying people.
A Call to Battle
During World War II, the American populace mobilized to support the war effort. Yes, they read the daily headlines of the latest news from Europe. But they did more than that.
Mothers, children, older men, and everyone in between salvaged materials, created “Victory Gardens,” and went without certain goods, all in the name of securing victory for the nation.
What if the intercessory community shared the same vision, the same level of intense focus to support those fighting on the front lines for our country? If you haven’t noticed that our nation needs it, you’re not paying attention.
There are Kingdom believers working in Congress right now for the sole reason of stopping aggressive abortion legislation.
Pray for them.
There are Kingdom believers in the media right now held back in their careers because they refuse to repeat the lies handed to them by the corporate bosses.
Fast for them.
There are unsaved people in the federal government mulling over new regulations that could help or destroy much of our nation.
Fast and pray and weep for them.
Insider Intercessory Intelligence
What if I told you there was a group of intelligent, educated, young women working all throughout the DC “swamp” who have begun a time of fasting and prayer?
Well, it’s true.
These enterprising young Kingdom women, all of whom I have the privilege of knowing, have named their effort the “21 Wailing Women.” They have committed to pray together for 21 days, each of them fasting one of those days.
From Capitol Hill to government contractors and more, they occupy positions of serious influence and sway in our nation. I can’t get more specific than that for obvious reasons, but I can ask something of you.
Join them.
Let us be a people that rises up, that labors in prayer, that answers the call to battle when our nation needs it most. These are the moments where the call as an intercessor is tested, when distraction and weariness come and pull us away from our calling.
Resist. The country needs you.
Consider this:
- Pray that the intercessory community would remain steadfast and committed to be faithful in their prayer assignments, that God would give you the strength to do the same.
- Pray that God’s people and His Kingdom influence all seven mountains of our nation: Education, Government, Media, Family, Entertainment, Church, and Business.
- Consider over the next 21 days if you can take a day to fast for our nation and its leadership, like our 21 wailing women. This is a chance to join with them all the intercessors who read this article to pray and lead the way into spiritual battle.

Editor’s note: Just before I prepared this article for publication I thought about how I wanted to eat an orange. It was a temptation for me because I fast on Fridays as part of IFA’s first Friday fast. It is not easy for me! But as I read these words from Casey Harper, I was reminded why I fast on Fridays. Our nation needs it. It is a sacrifice, but it is needed. I want to count myself with the “21 Wailing Women” who are fasting in D.C. Don’t you?

Lord, please forgive my generation for not standing guard on this republic you helped our founding fathers design in America. Slowly, we have turned our heads and not looked to the future you had in mind for us and allowed the unthinkable to creep into our government and society. We repent Father; how foolish we were. the enemy threw snowballs at us and we ducked now we have an avalanche of corruption and sin on our nation. Thank you for the revivals that are happening in America for touching one person at a time. I pray your Holy Spirit will continue to move through our nation and we will once again be called a Christian nation.
We are helpless with out You, Lord. Thank you for raising a remnant of faithful Christians in government. Please protect them and honor the 21 day fasting prayer group. It is nothing less than a miracle that our democracy has lasted almost 250 yr while the average life span of world democracies is so short. Thank you for your guidance on our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution to the founding fathers who prayed to you in that little tiny, hot church and all the subsequent blessings to each generation. We are a country today because of you. In Jesus’ name. Amen
I’m not sure if I’d use the example of the orange as an example of painful sacrifice. It sounds pretty silly, and might especially to someone in a poor country. I’d also avoid Christianese-isms like “weep”. Why do Christians weep, but everyone else cries??
Anyway, this was not encouraging, like you initially led us to believe. I thought there was some news, some concrete item that showed a change in trajectory. Instead, it was just a call to pray with others in the belly of the beast. That’s fine, but it’s not some “good news” that we need right now.
This is a great, informative and encouraging article; thank you Casey Harper. It is extremely heartwarming and encouraging to hear about the “21 Wailing Women” in our halls of government buildings. I know there are many believers and warriors out there, but it great to hear real active stories and results. You are right this is a “call to battle” and we need many warriors and foot soldiers in the battle. Thank you for the reminder, the call and the challenge to many/to me.

I’m truly heart broken and extremely saddened at the lack of the political knowledge and pride that I was taught in the public school I attended in the 60s and 70s. My parents taught me and my siblings to honor our country’s flag and national anthem. I still place my right hand over my heart when it is sung. It wasn’t perfect, never will be. However, I believe that our precious United States of America is to be respected and cherished as the best free country to live in. I will pray that the laws of the land and the constitution be upheld. I will fast on Saturdays and pray that we, as a whole nation, honor God again. In public schools, meetings, rallys and protests. I’m also going to pray that people, christians and non-christians will begin to remember to love one another again. Stop letting the evil one have his way. He cannot win if we pray and stand up against him in the authority of Jesus Christ. Remember; satan is NOT equal to God! And he does NOT win!
For health reasons I cannot fast but I will join the 21 Wailing Women and pray each day for them and with them in the precious name of Jesus. Our Almighty God does hear our prayers!
I shall be counted as one of those wailing women, did not know it existed till I looked the scripture, “Consider and call for the mourning women, that they may come; And send for skillful wailing women,
that they may come. God is birthing something through the women of this nations, crying for our children (I don’t have children in the natural) but I have spiritual children, crying for all the aborted babies, that did not have opportunity for life, crying for the heart of this nation that was founded on biblical principles, crying and weeping for the the Body of Christ, to wake up and know that there is a hurt and dying world, that needs to hear the good news, crying for the lost who do not know Jesus, that they may come into knowledge of Gods love. So I pray that hearts will return back the the Lord, that there will an outpouring of his Spirit, that takes repentance first, searching our hearts, then revival will come to every individual who calls on the name of Jesus. Thank you for this site and this call to action. I am honored to join with the 21 wailing women, beginning today. The battle is the Lord’s as it says in II Chronicles 20. We just need to take our position, [on our knees praying to and praising Him] stand firm and wait and see the victory of the Lord on our behalf. Amen, so be it!
My Lord, we are Your People, and this is Your Nation. We are asked to pray without ceasing, I pray for those in congress who are the intercessor , and in their prayer, I ask that you give them strength and give them peace. Dear God, I pray all in the name of Jesus, who when confronted by Satan, He demonstrated strength and power from you. Amen.

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked, that you cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh?
May God help us! May we boast only in Christ, and Him crucified!
I am always praying for my country. I grew up respecting my country and love it to the bottom of my heart. I have spent over 20 years in the military protecting her. I do not want her to go away. I want my grandchildren to learn to love this country as I do. I will continue to pray and ask everyone that I can to also pray. There is so much going on that really disturbs me and really worries me. So when it hits me, I pray. It does not matter what time of day or night. I just pray as often as I can. I have difficultly trying to do the fast because of health conditions, but I will try. I am retired from the military, have a spouse, four children, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. I want them to live in a free nation as I have, but I also want them safe.
Bettie, thank you so much for your patriotic service to our country. The examples you are setting for your offspring serve as a wonderful legacy you are leaving them. Thank you for sharing.

I’ve participated in many calls to prayer since the beginning of IFA several decades ago. Our country is facing its’ sternest test in my lifetime as Marxist forces are deployed deep inside the 7 mountain areas…in non-profits as well as other structures. It’s the Nehemiah call to action with our shovels and weapons of warfare (Ephesians 6). I join the 21 Wailing Women in fasting and prayer over these next 21 days. “I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24).
Elisha often experienced God’s manifest presence when he listened to godly music. The LORD gave him prophetic words on those occasions. I’m a bit like that too. There is something about certain Christian music that touches my heart so deeply when I hear it that I’m moved to tears when praying for our nation. There is an agony when I weep like that, yet I also feel so close to the heart of God at the same time. The music that touches my heart the most at those times is as follows: God Bless America Again on cd called Southern Faith, Heal Our Land by Revival in Belfast & the prayer put to music at the end of a dvd called Capitol Transformations. I’ve also noticed how God responds to worship in the book of Revelation with judgments. The 10 judgments against Egypt in Exodus bound 10 demonic princes over the nation before the Jews were able to go free. However, those judgments didn’t come in response to worship. They came in response to the obedience of Moses. Hebrews 11 should not only be called “the faith chapter,” but also “the obedience chapter.” Every person in Heb. 11 used their faith to obey the LORD.

I agree with the article. Right up to the 7 mountains 🏔. NAR junk, New Apostolic Reformation. It’s taking over the charismatic/Pentecostal churches,, starting to spread to mainline denominations. It’s like a cancer. Run from it !!!

I agree- NAR has infiltrated many denominations and people need to educate themselves on what it is and what they are accepting as truth.
I read a transcript of a discussion between Todd Bentley and Bob Jones of NAR in which they both spoke about an angel named Emma. A Christian police officer in Brenham, TX informed me in 2013 that Bentley is a satanist pretending to be an evangelist. The miracles he claimed that Emma produced identifies her as a spirit of alchemy. She is also a fallen angel. Bob Jones told Bentley that Emma was involved in the founding of the NAR movement. They are all a bunch of deluded false apostles and false prophets. Before that police officer told me about Bentley, I told him that my confrontations with satanists over the years made me aware that everything he taught about portals is right out of a satanist handbook. Kat Kerr has also said a lot about portals. Her supernatural experiences exposes her as a witch. A group of satanists met in France in 1914 to plot how they could infiltrate the church to lead it into apostasy. We need to pray for discernment more than ever before.

I pray all day during the day and sometimes during the middle of the night for our leaders and our Beautiful America that we will return to Our Holy God and HIS ways. We all need to be more discerning and keep our battle armor on and our eyes on the Lord our God.I stand with you as does many prayer warriors around me but many don’t understand how to be led by Holy Spirit. I am old and grey and have a hard time remembering what I read , so your prayer is a great help to me. Also churches don’t teach or preach about these very important issues. God s truth and helping us to know what is happening in Washington DC so we can pray effectively and specifically for our nation, leaders at all levels in government, corporate, families etc. It would be an honor to join this group of intercessors for the next 21 days and beyond. I will commit to pray and fast on Thursday’s and will be praying the Armor of God Ephesians 6:13-20, Psalm 91 and powerful verses of protection and repentance. We are the remnant and must take a stand for the Lord to battle for our country and families. Father you are Jehovah-Nissi, our refuge. We need you! Please help us to pray boldly and not shrink back! Father you say in your word the battle is not ours but yours. Father please continue to hear and honor the prayers of your people and have the victory in our country and our lives. When does the 21 day fast start? May 15th? I will definitely fast once a week.
I have signed up for Thursday. I join you in this, my sister in Christ.
I have signed up to fast and pray for America weekly, but I will also pray daily for my brothers and sisters in Christ as Paul prayed for believers in the early church. I have not prayed for or encouraged my own family members enough or those I am in contact with every day. I am constantly reminded to “Pray without ceasing” but get too busy looking at the issues of the world rather than coming to God with everything, acknowledging Him in all my ways and trusting Him with all my heart. We need to build each other up in prayer, then united with Gods power, pray for our authorities. I join with my brothers and sisters in Christ to pray.
As intercessors for our nation, we need to be strong and continue to stand in the gap for America. This is a great article, Casey. It is a battle cry to America’s intercessors to stand, and after doing all, to stand firm. We need to put on the full armor of God, roll up our sleeves, and fast and pray. These efforts will make a difference, and already are. We need to be in prayer for your faithful children that You have placed in our government. They are true Joseph and Daniels, and You have them there for a reason. Please, by Your great power, keep us strong and consistent in our intercession. In Jesus’ name.

Father, You warned Ninevah through Jonah and she repented. You later warned her again through Nahum, for she did not maintain the fruit of her repentance. As you declared that You would strip her naked before all, so You did.
Our nation has not maintained repentance after our own violent warnings. You have rightfully given it over to a depraved mind as it has disdainfully denied Your Lordship.
YET, Father, we who are Yours continue in repentance, fasting, worship and prayer—that You may grant the Gift of repentance and heal our land; that You ‘restore the years the locust has eaten’; and that You would renew the foundations of our youth ‘as the eagle’.
We humbly cry out for Your merciful justice.
We wield the Sword of Your Spirit in faith as You shine Your light on that which You intend to accomplish.
Do not let us grow weary in this our work. Grant us vision to see and participate in Your works, and strengthen us in Divine hope that does not disappoint.
Let the weight of Your Glory convict this nation and the world of sin, of righteousness, and judgment, and of the Truth embodied in the Lord Jesus Christ—for Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forever, and Worthy is Your Lamb Jesus to receive the reward of His suffering! Amen.

How we are plundered and ruined! We are greatly confounded and utterly put to shame…” These words from Jeremiah 9 have been with me for many years and this morning they are echoing more loudly than ever. Thank You, God, for Your precious promises to hear and answer our cries! And thank You for the 21 wailing women and all who join them. We bless Your name!
We are a people called by God to pray and pray and praise God for the many warriors rising up and crying out to God for our nation and the world, for we know God hears and loves His people. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual wickedness in high places. , we must remember who our enemies are and keep focused and love as Christ loves us and has called us to love and forgive . Lord we thank You for healing that we proclain has come by faith to our nation and restoration of all things to Your Name. We proclaim healing and deliverance; spiritual blindness be uncovered and spiritual deafness to be uncovered and revival to come to our nation that people will know their God and rise up and walk in faith as overcomers and there we take back everything the enemy has stolen from us. We declare abortion is no more and all colors of skin love one another. Love one another as Christ loves us. An yes I will fast every morning for the Lord to do a mighty work and draw me closer to Him.

Your Spirit is contained in your Word and you’ve partnered with Your people to proclaim words of belief in the rocks of truth. Psalm 15:1-2 “Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart.” What we want most is for You to tabernacle in our places of work, government, life; that Your Holy Hill could be on Capitol Hill and places of state, county, and city governments; in our places of education, entertainment, communities, and homes. Your people want to bring little rays of sunshine no matter the darkness. Arm your people with the armor of God to walk uprightly, work righteousness, and speak truth in his heart. In the name of our Commandment Giver, Jesus. Amen.
I consider it a blessing to join the “21 Wailing Women” to pray for our country. I will also fast one day a week during this twenty one day period. My heart aches for our nation, for our children who are being fed so many lies, and for our leaders that disagree with the present policies before them. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of prayer and realize that this is the best thing I have to offer my country at this stage of my life. When we can do nothing else, we CAN pray!

I will fast, pray, and set aside time to listen on Monday May 17. Who will join me or take another specific day? I will pray for you as well, particularly if you have never fasted before. My experience has been that much more is given to me through fasting than I can ever offer to God. His presence is food. We will cause the demons to tremble as we worship and draw near to God!

“… and having done all to stand, stand firm.” Eph. 6:13. Standing and using the mouth God gave us to voice His Truth into this world is crucial right now. Standing in the face of lies is powerful. It accomplishes more than we know.
It’s so easy to get discouraged about the news that is swirling around us, including what is happening in Israel.
We know that God is not discouraged or worried. So, we should be rejoicing as we see HIS day approaching!
Thank you Lord for these prayer warriors! Help me Lord to be obedient to you and to follow you always, to pray always, and please heal our Land and shine your light on the darkness and expose the lies and the father of lies.
Father, we pray for all the intessesors who are steadily praying, that they will not “grow weary”.. Help them they can pray not only in their prayer closet, but when they were out and about–at work, driving the car, making meals for the family, during corporate business meetings, waiting on customers, in classes as student or teacher. Help them realize God hears them as they are ” out and about” that the petitions are silently coming from them and He hears! We pray this in Jesus’Name. Amen.
Praise the Lord for this insight and encouragement. It does help to renew my passion and commitment in intercession for America. I am agreeing to join in fasting one day a week for America.
