On April 25, 2019, I had a dream about America. I was sitting on a very large hill overlooking the land. It looked desolate. There was no color, there were no people to be seen, no animals, no singing of birds, no sound. Many buildings were destroyed, and many homes looked destroyed and abandoned. The trees looked dead much like they do in winter. There was no water, the rivers and lakes were dried up, and instead of grass or flowers, I saw only cracked dry ground. I could see what looked like a void land, until I saw boundary lines. Upon inspection, I recognized famous landmarks so I knew I was looking into America.

In the distance, I finally saw people and they were weeping and talking about the East Wind. All at once from the East came a massive tidal wave. This wave had the appearance of water at first, when I saw what happened I realized this wave to be the presence of God. The presence of God swept through the land. He uprooted the dead trees and instantly put new trees in its place. He hovered over the dried rivers and lakes and they were filled with fresh clean water. Everything he passed over came back to life again. The dry barren ground turned lush green with flowers. He encircled the homes and they were rebuilt like brand new. It almost felt like I was watching a tiny glimpse of what creation looked like in the beginning, until the scene changed.

This wave of God’s presence swirled and became a massive whirlwind. It was a terrible sight, I felt the fear of the Lord. There were several large buildings that remained and some He made new but others were completely torn down. He encircled the mountains until He uprooted them, turning them upside down. It sounded like an earthquake; I felt the shaking. As He shook the mountains, I saw tiny people like ants falling out. In my dream, I knew that those people were ungodly people who lived in those mountains and they were defiant against God. After the people fell, He put the mountains back in their place. He did this to several other mountains, before He moved on through cities. After this I woke up.

There is a lot that can be said about this dream. For more than a year, I have been thinking and praying over it. I am going to focus on the mountains and why I feel this is significant today.

God shaking the mountains resonated with me greatly. Some of you may be familiar with the “seven mountains of influence,” or “seven spheres of society/influence:” government, family, religion, arts, business, media, and education. I will share what I feel the Lord revealed to me while praying over this.

The mountains are not literal, but spiritually represent ruling. High places in the Bible were incorporated with worship and encounters with God. Consider these important things that have taken place in mountaintops. God met Moses on Mount Sinai (Ex 19). Abraham built an altar on Mount Moriah, offering Isaac, which was a depiction of Christ’s sacrifice. (Gen 22) Elijah had a showdown with the prophets of Baal on Mount Horeb and God answered by fire. (1 Kgs 18) Christ’s most beloved and popular message was given on a mountain, so it is called the sermon on the mount. (Mt 5:3-16) His transfiguration also took place on the mountain. (Mt 17:1-8) Jesus would often go to the mountains to pray. (Mt 14:23) The Israelites knew that mountains represented meeting God. In the high places, the patriarchs built altars and worshipped the Lord God of heaven and earth.

However, in his original form Satan is a liar and found a way to imitate God and then pervert it. This is what he does. Consider Nimrod building a tower to reach to the heavens. Also, consider very much in the books of 1 and 2 Kings we read about the “high places.” They were often located in hills, surrounded by groves or wooded areas filled with trees. It was here that we see false altars being set up to worship Baal, and asherah poles being erected. God instructed his kings to “tear down the high places.” What was once pure worship to God became a trap that Satan perverted. At these corrupt altars there was idolatry, sexual perversion, and sacrifice which God detested. Finally, think about a once former angel declaring in Isaiah 14:12-14: I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High. Lucifer before his fall did not want to be like God. He wanted to be God. He wanted to rule.

When Lucifer fell, he became Satan and tried to deceive Jesus Christ by taking him to the “pinnacle,” the highest part of the mountain. He said, “I will give you all the kingdoms of this world if you will fall down and worship me.” (Matthew 4:8,9) Thank God that Jesus Christ knew his Father’s will. Can you see now why we learn about the mountains which represent influence in our society? I will be including more information on the seven spheres of influence. We cannot sit by and lose more ground. We have been given God given authority to stand. Ephesians 2:6 says we are seated with Christ in heavenly places, but I included the Good News Translation In our union with Christ Jesus he raised us up with him to rule with him in the heavenly world.
