I Prayed have prayed
Lord, we lift up to You the U.S. special forces wounded in Afghanistan on Saturday. We ask for their completed healing as several of them fight for their lives. We also lift up the families of the men that were killed. We pray for comfort and peace for them as they grieve.

[A] Special Forces team was ambushed in Afghanistan [Saturday] by a rogue Afghan policeman. Two American commandos have been killed and six wounded. In addition, at least eight Afghan commandos have died as a result of the attack.

It’s too easy to forget that our military are in danger around the world. DOWNLOAD our prayer guide bookmark and order some to share: PRAYER FOR MILITARY AND MILITARY FAMILIES. This prayer guide is based on Psalm 91. Prayer is an excellent way to support our military.

Sources with intimate knowledge of the incident told SOFREP that the Greens Berets of Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA) 7313 and the company command team of A Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (A/3/7) had just finished a Key Leader Engagement (KLE) with local leaders when they were ambushed. The American element, which was accompanied by a partner force of Afghan Special Operations Forces (ANSOF) had moved to a nearby field to wait for extraction by helicopter. While they were in a Pickup Zone (PZ) posture, the rogue Afghan policeman attacked. The individual essentially mowed down the Special Forces operators and their partner force element with a heavy machinegun.

A Green Beret and a Special Operations Team-Alpha (SOT-A) soldier, who was attached to the team, were killed on the spot. The company executive officer was shot in the chest and is in critical condition; the company Sergeant Major was shot in the head. The rest of the American WIAs have gunshot wounds to the legs. All casualties have been evacuated to U.S. medical facilities.

Colonel Sonny Leggett, the spokesperson for U.S. Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A) said that “an individual in an Afghan uniform opened fire on the combined U.S. and Afghan force with a machine gun. The motive behind the attack is unknown at this time. The incident is under investigation.”

The Green-on-Blue (friendly forces attacking U.S. troops) incident took place in the Sherzad district of Nangarhar Province, which is located in eastern Afghanistan.

SOT-A soldiers are attached to Special Forces ODAs and provide tactical Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and Electronic Warfare (EW) capabilities.

ODAs are comprised of 12 Green Berets and specialize in Unconventional Warfare (UW), Foreign Internal Defence (FID), Direct Action (DA), and Special Reconnaissance (SR), among other things.

Colonel John W. Sannes, the commanding officer of the 7th SFG, said in a brief press statement that “several 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) Soldiers were injured or killed during combat operations in Afghanistan on February 8, 2020. The 7th Special Forces Group Headquarters is poised to support the Service Members and their families during this difficult time.” Adding that “the families of the deceased and wounded are being notified. In accordance with DoD policy, the names of the causalities are being withheld until 24 hours after their next of kin notification is complete.”

SOFREP is withholding the names of the KIAs and the numbers of the ODA and ODB until the DoD has notified their families.

We come to you Father in the precious Name of Jesus. We ask for your Divine intervention in Afghanistan that this horrible conflict will come to end.

I ask Lord that you forgive America for intervening in this country for so many years. Lord, you remember that I was in Afghanistan in the early ’70s when there was a semblance of Peace after the Russians were defeated and left the country.
Help us Lord to follow your ways and teaching as a Nation and re-think our motives and intentions for involving our men and women in the affairs of others. I pray for President Trump and military leaders for wisdom and courage to re-assess our nation’s goals.

We pray for the conversion of the Afghan people and for healing on both sides! Than you Lord for hearing our petitions and for your Grace.

Thank you father that your word does not return void, ever, but accomplishes the purpose for which it was sent. I thank you that by meditating on believing and praying Psalm 91 I have escaped from death. Read Psalm 91, precious soldiers, pray it, believe it, believe the words and act upon them putting your faith and trust in the Lord God Almighty and his son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Spirit who will lead you into all truth. Make sure, above all, that you do Psalm 91 verse one. Dwell in the secret place of the most high, under the shadow of the Almighty, whose power no enemy can withstand . Declare of the Lord that he is your refuge and your fortress and you lean on him and rely on him and you confidently trust in him. He will care for you, he will deliver you, he will give his angels charge over you to preserve you in all your ways. Lord I speak this to our precious servicemen and women who are facing the greatest sacrifice possible on behalf of our country. I speak this prayer to them and for them and ask you to make every verse vital and real to them, comforting, strengthening and giving wisdom and understanding of how to follow you into every battle. We pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ who is Lord of all to the glory of God the father! Amen!

Father, thank you for your Holy Spirit comforting the families of these soldiers. We pray for your healing power to be resident in the bodies of those injured. We engage and employ your wisdom as we act in your love and your forgiveness towards those who hate us and do evil to us. As your wisdom would have it, we bless those who hate us or would try to curse us. We believe we receive and ask for the protection of Psalm 91 upon our military, our allies, our families, and ourselves as we live daily. We strap on the weapons of our warfare that you have given us for our protection and our victory. We pray for your kingdom to come and your will to be done in us as well as in the lives in the region where we now do you combat. We pray that we shall know your truth and the truth will set us free. We pray it in the name of Jesus – the name above every name.
