I Prayed

God has ordained to work mighty things and win great victories through the prayers of His people. With that conviction, Intercessors for America, in collaboration with Intercessors for Ukraine, began to step up prayer efforts a couple of months ago as the threat of Russian aggression loomed. During the escalation of tension and the subsequent invasion by Russian forces, we developed specific prayer strategies out of a united sense of what God wanted us to pray, Check out Prayer Guide for Ukraine, Prayer Declarations over Ukraine, and New Prayer Requests: Ukraine.
A few months ago I did not think much about Ukraine as a priority for prayer. I’ve never been there and wasn’t connected with any mission working there. But as the conflict loomed and Russian troops were amassed at the border, God began to burden me for this nation. As I prayed, I saw a bright light in the East. At the top of the image, I saw a throng of white robes and wheels of chariots moving about as if troops were put in position in the heavenly places. The light itself seemed to pour into Ukraine and pierce darkness. The prayers the Holy Spirit put in my mind were that God would open the eyes of intercessors and believers in Ukraine (and ours too!) to see what God wanted us to see in the spiritual realm, and to pray accordingly. As prayer strategy over Ukraine began to develop, three parallel lines for prayer emerged that I believe reflect that image: supernatural intervention in the invasion (chariots and white-robed angelic beings), unified prayer and outreach by God’s people in Ukraine, along with revival to come to the Ukrainian people (the light pouring into Ukraine and piercing the darkness).
Last week, the invasion began. I felt somewhat agonized in my spirit at first, so I asked the Lord why our fervent prayer for the invasion to be prevented had not been answered. I just heard these simple whispered words: “It isn’t over till it’s over. Keep praying.”
Almost a week into the invasion, the smoke from the battles is beginning to clear a little, and we are beginning to see the miracles that took place, and spectacular answers to very specific prayers that the Holy Spirit directed us to pray. Here is a smattering of those, gleaned from news media that are unwittingly reporting on God’s victories, as well as messages from pastors and missionaries in Ukraine that are being shared around on social media.
The news reports on the invasion reflect, in my opinion, evidence that God is at work in Ukraine and through the free world to accomplish His purposes:
- According to a live blog on the Dutch news outlet nu.nl, NATO military experts were baffled by the absence of an initial wave of missile and air attacks aimed at command posts, communication networks, and airbases that normally precedes an invasion to limit a country’s ability to defend itself. It gave Ukraine an advantage from the get-go.
- Fox News reports that Russian troops are underfunded and ill-equipped. Overall, Ukrainian defense forces have been successful at slowing the Russian advance. To add insult to injury, Russian troops are becoming increasingly disoriented and demoralized, according to some news outlets.
- As the invasion began, President Volodymyr Zelensky has emerged as a daring, lead-from-the-front head of state who has captured the admiration and support of the world, while Putin’s actions have resulted in the world turning against him. Along with Zelensky, high profile Ukrainians are admired for their courage and wisdom, like heavy-weight-boxing-champ-turned-mayor-of-Kyiv Vitali Klitschko, and former miss Grand Ukraine Anastasiia Lenna.
- Even at home, Putin is losing support. Experts on Russia had speculated that a war against Ukraine would not be popular with the Russian people who want him to focus on the economy and rising crime. Proving them right, anti-war protests are gaining momentum, even as the Russian government tries to squash them.
- Meanwhile, the initially wavering European Community has been galvanized to provide Ukraine with unified military support and impose strict sanctions on Russia.
But the reports that are floating around the internet from missionaries and pastors in Ukraine show the strongest evidence of God’s work in the country behind the scenes:
- “Monday morning Kyiv update: Russian rockets dropped without explosion (see the pictures from Kharkiv). Promised IL-76 and Grad never showed up. Enemy tanks run out of fuel suddenly. Russian occupants demoralized and get lost. They walk in fields and villages asking locals for bread and direction. Oleksiy, pastor of Pentecostal church in Bucha where the most severe battle happened Sunday: “Ukrainian soldiers and officers telling me they are witnessing miracles from above. ‘It is not our achievement only,’ they say. Despite tiredness, they renew in strength being witnesses of Lord and civilians’ support, pastor states. Though the face of our cities and towns are changed and we cry hardly recognizing our streets, people remain strong. Kyiv stands on its feet. Actually, not stands, the city works: checkpoints shifts change, donors line up to offer blood, ladies join supermarkets teams to provide bread, young people take foodpacks to seniors. Even February weather (usually deep minus) is more like March’s last days. Kyiv and every regional center are under Ukrainian flags! God is at work!” (Posted by Yuriy Kulakevych, there are some grammatical discrepancies due to the translation.)
- From pastor Igor in Lviv, shared by a missions pastor in Minnesota: “Please tell your people, because of their prayers, God really fights our battles. The rockets disappear in the air without reaching our homes and no one knows where they did go. Enemy tanks run out of fuel, Russian troops get lost and ask our locals for food and direction – that is definitely God because we are dealing with the second strongest army in the world. And this morning Kyiv and other major cities are still free and so are we. In Lviv we do not have to run to our basements.”
- Videos have circulated of worship services and people sheltering under bridges and in tunnels while singing praise hymns to God. Those are unverified, but I don’t believe anyone is making up these stories.
- In video messages shared on Facebook, missionary Max Fetisov has been sharing updates. His most recent videos report that they have started receiving financial support that enables them to minister to Ukrainians affected by the war. He also shares that Ukrainian believers have been able to witness to Russian soldiers, many of whom are conscripts as young as 17 years of age and don’t know why they are there. He, and other pastors in Ukraine, reflect the resolve of God’s people to stay and be a beacon of light in the midst of the darkness.
- There has been an outpouring of prayer for Ukraine like never before, uniting believers from all over the world. This unity is significant as it awakens us to the fact that we are a global church with far-reaching power through intercessory prayer.
In view of these amazing answers to prayer, we must persist in prayer! After all, it isn’t over till it’s over. In addition to the IFA prayer update posted over the weekend, I would like to invite you to join IFA and Intercessors for Ukraine in prayer for:
- The peace talks currently underway in Belarus to succeed and result in a ceasefire despite all odds.
- Prayerful ministry by a unified Ukrainian Church to the Ukrainian people and the Russian army.
- Resources to reach the churches and missions agencies, and resourcefulness in distributing them.
- Solidarity between Russian and Ukrainian churches in praying for and pursuing peace.
- God’s hand of restraint to keep Putin’s hand off the red button that would ignite a nuclear war.
- The miracles that are being reported to become increasingly visible and ignite spiritual revival through Europe to the glory of God.
- For the growing prayer movement in and around Ukraine to last, even when the crisis settles, out of a rediscovered awareness that God has invested great power in the prayers of His people.
Finally: Let us pray for Vladimir Putin himself. He has been described of late as erratic and even deranged and isolated. Where he once appeared congenial, he now seems devoid of reason and full of evil. But God is stronger, and so I have been praying for a “Damascus Road” encounter. A couple of years ago I came across videos of him attending Easter mass in the Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow. He joined the congregation with joy in his face in shouting “Khrystos voskres” (Christ is risen). He may have had political motives for being there, but I can’t help but think that the Lord heard his verbal acknowledgement of the Risen Christ, and sees him without his power, privilege, and delusions of grandeur as just Vladimir, a man in need of Christ.

This is my first time watching a war against an innocent country unfolding. My faith in God became stronger than ever. The more I watched every day, God reminded me how He Saved his people from enemies in the Old Testament through songs, standing still, David and Goliath through so many miracles. I pleaded with God that He will do the same. God gave those who stayed behind, the courage and strength to fight back with what they have: sang their National anthem. I realized that He still showing the Ukrainian unimaginable miracles while their leader is protected by God’s almighty hand. Let’s pray without ceasing!!
The conflict unfolding in Ukraine is deeply troubling and a worldwide tragedy. It is awful to see people forced into battle and being tortured, maimed and killed due to the actions of political leaders who have neglected their ultimate duty to protect the citizens of their countries. Make no mistake though– the war that is unfolding between Ukraine and Russia is being used by the media and partisan hacks to continue a much more sinister plot to divide and ostracize entire groups of people, to remove them from the world stage, and to promote the coalition of a one world government that ultimately will usher in the antichrist. The same people that spoon fed lies about the covid-19 pandemic, demanded national vaccines in order to work, and who have engaged in the muzzling of our youth, and the widespread cultural cancellation of opposing opinions are now eager to bring down Vladamir Putin and the entire country of Russia while uniting around the “sovereign” nation of Ukraine.
If nothing else, we must pause and ask ourselves some important questions. Anyone who has released the depth of corruption taking place in America and around the world must at least wonder whether the narrative being promoted now by our media should all of a sudden be taken as gospel truth. Obviously no one wants to see people being murdered, cities being bombed, and countries at war, but can we pause and take a moment to seperate our emotional reactions and outrage at what is unfolding? Let’s examine the cause, the purpose, and the potential for a greater and more sinister plan on the part of the globalist kabul.
Our media didn’t label the US as an ‘evil invader’ when they brutally invaded Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghan and others. Why? Because according to our media it wasn’t an invasion, it was the US ‘liberating them with our democracy’…, to the tune of drone strikes and destruction for thousands. And for those who have seen the lies the media are capable of producing on a mass scale for so long.. What changed now? It’s the same companies. Controlled by the same bloodlines and organizations. For the same purposes. To divide, increase polarity, and cause chaos. From this chaos, they create ‘order’, orchestrated by, among others, Klaus Scwab from the World Economic Forum. What if I told you that Russia is one of the only countries whose leader has publicly called out the World Economic Forum, and said that he doesn’t want to take part in the new world order.
Now does it make sense why the media and globalist elites like George Soros have been hellbent on destroying Putin?
You probably have seen the images of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in military gear, or graphic footage of children saying goodbye to their parents, or what about the picture of the same guy who apparently died twice (once in Syria to justify that invasion, and now again in Ukraine), or how about a Ukrainian fighter pilot shooting down Russians? What If I told you these images being promulgated across mainstream media platforms are actually completely fake? Movie clips, archived images, and photoshopped graphics.. Modern war propaganda being disseminated by our “trusted” news companies that brought you the Russian Collusion narrative, the phony impeachment scandal, and the Covid-19 mass hysteria lies? All of a sudden we should now trust what they are sharing??

I entirely support any and all ministry to the people involved in or affected by the fighting. However, I pray more for the government of the Ukraine to be swept clean of the vile criminals that run it, as it is as infiltrated with the luciferian deep state as the U.S. is. Do not think that. because the “world” is against Putin, you are on God’s side by agreeing with the world. I feel that God is using Putin to destroy certain threats that MOST of the world does not even know exist. MANY of the pictures of “brave Zalensky” were taken months ago. Photos and videos of bombings, air battles, weeping Ukrainians, and prayer vigils have been used to evoke sympathy and monetary support for Ukraine. MOST have PROVEN to be false in that they were either faked, photos from other countries, air combat footage from an actual “video game”. God cares about establishing HIS kingdom, not preserving the kingdoms of men.

I totally agree with you Daniel, we really need to be careful in our prayers. Ukraine is a hotbed of corruption and I can’t help feeling that the current crises is a way to clean this out. Remember the main stream media is now completely corrupt and the images and news from them is suspect – just look at these last 3 years, it’s as if they are on over-drive now. Pray by asking for Wisdom and Discernment! God Bless.

Been praying/deliberating about this all day…My concern/caution at this point is beating the same drum as our corrupt administration/MSM and cease to remember our own related inequities/problems/injustices/

I join with the Body of Christ in prayer and supplication to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords on behalf of Ukraine, Eastern Europe and Russia. And by extension the United States. There is a great depth of prayer. We pray in agreement with the Holy Spirit’s deep groanings in these strategic days.
Daniel’s prayer experience keeps coming to mind as I pray and seek guidance. Daniel stood steadfast in prayer for God’s people and nation, illuminating the truth that tremendous battles in the heavenlies are going on in any time of conflict. And Heaven was in attention and sending help. I am lead again and again to the fact that this present fight brings brutal harm to men, women and children. Dear Lord, Your Heart is touch by our infirmities, by the cries of those in distress and who are misused in the earth. You know each person. They are Yours, created in Your image. If Your Heart is touched by the death of one sparrow, how much more the death of many men, women, boys and girls.
Oh Father, we see Your Hand in this battle. We pray that brutality is stopped in the authority and name of Jesus. That there be a birthing of FREEDOM in these lands that opens the door to mighty revival. That those who have lived under oppressive rule my breath in the Liberty of Christ Jesus and that this great wind of freedom sweeps all these lands. You have heard the desperate cries and You are just, and You will prevail. Lord, you speak, and it is done. Thank You.

Our wonderful and awesome Lord has, throughout Biblical history, used dramatic events as powerful reminders to get distracted minds back onto Him. It is comforting to know He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. (Heb. 13:8) We are all part of God’s army as we, in unity, persevere in believing prayer. As we have read, God’s heavenly army responds to our faithfulness with wonderful testimonies of supernatural intervention. God’s purposes of this tragedy in the Ukraine are far-reaching for He desires that no one be forever lost. It appears many churches throughout the world have awakened and, hopefully, will have developed renewed strength in their faith. Our job as believers, is to remain obediently faithful as we helpfully fulfill God’s plan for these end times. (If these truly are The End Times.) And may God get the glory as His will is played out in amazing ways!

Thank you for lifting up how God is answering our prayers for Ukraine. Praying for victory in Christ with his army of angels.
Rather than pray against President Putin, perhaps you should consider the facts that reveal that the current administration in Ukraine is quite evil and in fact was put in place by the United States (Obama admin). Perhaps God is using Pres Putin and Russia to clean out the evil that exists in the Ukraine govt. Christians need to be discerning at this time in history, and I see too much “choosing sides” in prayer. God knows the true intentions of these governments (including the US). Pray for HIS WILL TO BE DONE so that the Father in heaven is glorified.

I feel such joy and celebration for the good news. Indeed, our God has shown his mighty power in allowing for miracles to happen, miracles that benefit Ukraine in this unholy war. When enemy tank suddenly run out of gas, when missiles disappear mysteriously, when opposing troops become disoriented and confused, and so much more, then we have cause for rejoicing that prayers are being heard and God is still in control.

As Intercessors our assignments are given by the Holy Spirit. I have been assigned a particular local area to pray for, a Nation to pray for (USA), and in severe demonic attacks (such as the one into Ukraine) to join the spiritual warfare battle from afar.
Our assignments are specific and require maximum discernment. I cannot imagine Vladimir Putin as the Apostle Paul. Paul was full of scripture as were our Presidents Washington and Lincoln. Putin’s attacks on Christianity have been increasingly brazen. So much that Franklin Graham pulled a conference from Russia years ago because of Putin’s persecution of street evangelists. Putin reminds me of the serpent in the movie “The Passion of the Christ”…
Putin’s lie about the Ukraine government being Nazis is so laughable – the President is a JEW!!! Maybe someone in Putin’s circle will have enough biblical knowledge to advise him that those who curse Israel are cursed. Perhaps they will also speak Luke 17:2 “It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.” as he watches the innocent children die.
I plead the blood of Jesus against this scourge and the demons that are controlling it. God’s will be done and if Putin chooses to join Hitler and his own hero Stalin so be it. Maranatha

When reading 2 Chronicles 13:5-18 I thought of the people of Ukraine and believe this scripture is for them and what is going on in their country. Their Present is Jewish and the Covenant of Salt was for his people and they need to hold on to His promises to Abraham and King David.
I truly believe this is a prayer we need to be praying and declaring the Covenant of Salt for the President and his country.
As I read this it reminded me of a book written in regard to World War II and prayer. Stories similar to the above. How the writer saw the ebb and flow of the war in relation to the prayers. I can’t remember the name of it. Does anyone know the name? I think it would be a great book for us to be reading today.
I was reading it in 1980, had it stuffed in my purse, as we walked streets in China, having just dropped off Bibles. A group of college kids stopped my husband and myself asking, “We are learning English. Will you talk to us?” They took us to a side street so soldiers wouldn’t see us talking to them. We shared the gospel. I remember one young man saying, “I get it, You want us to love this Jesus like you do.” We said yes, I took the book out of my purse and gave it to them. I wonder if we will ever meet any of them at Home one day. I don’t believe they had ever heard the name Jesus before.

I believe God has used Reese Howells life and testimony to most especially impact all of those God wants in His INTERCESSORY ARMY. I came across the very same book back in 2000. It indeed impacted me greatly. Ive read many books since. Great as Reece was his testimony is used so that we can do what he did OBEY OUR GOD. “FOLLOW ME” says the LORD is what its all about. Praise the Lord for the prayers being answered for Ukraine and all the miracles being witnessed!! “The prayers of a righteous man avails much.” So very encouraged for Ukraine and its country. Lord please continue to send your mighty angels to protect and defend their country and continue to bring revival in Ukraine & Russia in Jesus name. And also that Putin has a divine awakening to know Jesus.
It is not just prayer. Don’t forget fasting and almsgiving. These add power to our prayers. Even the apostles could not cast out some demons without prayers and fasting. Almsgiving covers a multitude of sins. Use every weapon in the arsenal.

Conflict is not black and white. I don’t believe Putin went in to Ukraine with a massive army, and prepping his nuclear arsenal just to clean house. In Ukraine both former and current president are taking arms to defend their country. Doubt that our President would do that here. Biden open the borders and so much crime, drugs, and human trafficking happens on a daily basis here in the USA. There are people in our government that are very corrupt, and we should demand they be prosecuted. But should a foreign massive army invade us to clean house?

The Lord has led me to speak to Putin’s heart with His words of love and healing. He showed me they walked together when he was young. I sensed a strong wall interposed against these words as the enemy tries to keep Love from getting through to him. I also pray for Putin’s inner circle, for evil to be bound so they can receive salvation and healing. If you pray anything, pray that God’s will be done. I don’t think we understand the situation very well. Many things we see in the media are false, have we forgotten so quickly how they lie? Ask yourself why the enemies of Christianity are rooting for ukraine.

I don’t trust any information really. The fact that the EU has turned on a dime to oppose Putin makes me suspicious because I cannot trust the EU at all. Something is very hidden here. Let us pray in the Spirit and draw no conclusions.

My wife and I have a heavy heart for the people of Ukraine. We have been praying day and night that God would take special care of the many people in Ukraine. Miracles are going on as I type this, God hears prayers of his children. We also praying that Putin fall in his own pit and realize that you must halt all fighting.

Rise up armies of righteous soldiers witnessing to the world’s people. You are the authority over evil, bring your Holy Spirit to cover the Ukrainians in your protection. Provide for the needs of the soldiers, the citizens of Ukrainian. Guide the thoughts and actions of leadership there. Show them your way through this. Lord e we lift this nation to you and all you to conquer the evil that has taken hold. Let your truth and your light shine so brightly that it pierced any darkness here. We give you the glory.
God is certainly at work indeed! We pray for the heart of Putin would be softened and turn to Christ. We pray that he would soon be known as a man who stands for Christ and a caring compassionate supporter to ALL people, rather than a man who is all about himself at any cost even the cost of human life. Lord, we see the situation in Ukraine on our TV’s and computer screens daily. We are aware that the Ukrainian’s have not done what they are accused of doing. We know you want people to live in peace, but when they are attacked repeatedly without provocation they have the responsibility to defend themselves, and you will help them and confuse their enemies, we have seen miracles in Ukraine, let this be used to help those who are in the valley of decision make their choice on whom to follow.
As I was reading how God is moving on the behalf of Ukraine, I had a vision from God: I saw an arm reach down from Heaven and take hold of a missile being dropped on Ukraine! Please ask for more discernment since I and many other believers feel there’s a mission being accomplished to root out deep state activities in Ukraine because of the overwhelming West involvement since the illegal Maidan coup. These include child sex trafficking, allowance of established Fascist groups to influence the government in Kiev (Svoboda & Azov Militia), bio weapon labs and the ongoing persecution and military attacks on the Ukrainians living in Donbass.
I have a particular interest in Ukraine since I married a Ukrainian woman almost 20 years ago who happens to be there now with her mother. A lot of my information is from her and the rest from trusted prophetic people I know well.
