BEN CARSON OPENS CABINET MEETING IN PRAYER
BEN CARSON OPENS CABINET MEETING IN PRAYER
As we close 2017 and begin 2018, commit to intercede for our brothers and sisters in Christ who serve in Washington. Pray that they would be wise and gentle (Mt 10:16), humble, trusting in God, watchful and firm in faith (1 Pet 5:6-9).
President Donald Trump began his weekly cabinet meeting Wednesday saying it was a ‘celebration.’ The president asked Ben Carson to open the meeting in prayer.
Hours earlier, the Senate approved a sweeping tax overhaul bill that House lawmakers passed a second time later in the day.
To begin the celebration Trump asked Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson to begin the cabinet meeting with prayer.
“Our kind father in heaven, we’re so thankful for the opportunity and the freedom that you’ve granted us in this country. We thank you for the president and cabinet members who are courageous, who are willing to face the winds of controversy in order to provide a better future for those who come behind us. We’re thankful for the unity in congress that has presented an opportunity for our economy to expand so we can fight the corrosive debt that has been destroying our future. And we hope that unity will spread even beyond party lines so that people recognize that we have a nation that is worth saving. And recognize that nations divided against themselves cannot stand. In this time of discord, distrust and dishonesty, we ask that you would give us a spirit of gratitude, compassion and common sense. And give us the wisdom to be able to guide this great nation in the future. We ask in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.”
Before asking Carson to pray, Trump invited the reporters in the room to stay for the invocation joking, “You need it more than I do,” adding, “Then maybe you’ll be honest,” continuing his war with reporters whose stories have been 91 percent negative of his administration.
James A. Smith, the Vice President of Communications for the National Religious Broadcasters Association, took issue with the off-handed remark on Twitter:
‘Mr. @POTUS, we all need prayer. Yes, the press needs it. And so do you. And so do I. ‘
That is one truth on which all sides should agree; we all need prayer.” (Excerpted from Churchleaders.com, reporting by Bob Ditmer.)

God bless Dr. Ben; he is so authentic; a real Christian man; I am so grateful President chose him for the HUD position; he has experienced real problems in his life and risen above it all. Thank you, President Trump; thank you Dr. Ben Carson.
God, thank you for the passage of the Tax Bill. Thank you that at least Republicans were able to stick together to accomplish something this year! The American people are weary of Congress. We’re weary of corruption. Continue to “drain the swamp”! There is so much more evil to be exposed. We would be overwhelmed if we had to handle it all at once! Help us to know our brothers and sisters in Congress who stand for righteousness! We are thankful for each and every one! In the name of our faithful Savior upon whom our HOPE is build. Amen
So appreciate your page and informational articles. Very encouraging to see God at work especially in the highest places…answers to much prayer to our mighty God.
Yes, though I’m grateful for our new President & his zeal to make things right, I’ll be praying Matt. 10:16 especially for him & others to be wise as serpents & gentle as doves in carrying out their duties.
And yes, we ALL, including myself, need prayer to our Almighty, gracious & wise Father God.
After reading an article on opioid abuse in Glamour magazine (of all places); I have come to a couple of conclusions: one is that the younger generation- both males and females, from about 13 onto maybe 35 have empty heads because they are devoid of innate moral values; these have not been taught by schools, churches, families, nor any of the participants in our great country. That said, was I from a teen to much later in life just as empty-headed? You bet, however, our generation was not especially abusing drugs, some abused alcohol, but it was unusual at that time. So, we escaped the rampant drug culture that has heated up over the past 50 years. Only due to the Grace of God. I also hugely fault the public schools for adhering to a Godless and immoral worldview, where any good value of life is strictly forbidden or excised from the school curriculum. This goes from elementary through high school. However, there are young people who are wonderful examples of what initiative, hard work, and the energy to want to succeed. People like ballerina Misty Copeland,(read about her struggles), and Tiera Fletcher (a NASA space engineer)-fabulous role models for today’s young women and men.
Excellent article about young people.
I have older women driving me, because I have been ill. I am
absolutely amazed. They know nothing…nothing at all. They attend liberal churches, which have discarded the Bible. Their news source in everything but FOX. They watch Soap Operas. We need a revival with repentence.
It’s great that prayer is made part of the president’s cabinet. However, The respect for God and man must be demonstrated through out the day. The Bible says that some of our prayers will be hindered if sin surrounds it. Prayer must not be used as a “good luck” charm. Politically correct ideas are not needed or accepted when it comes to the ways of God. Above all you must be a “true believer” of the Faith to correctly address the Creator of This Universe. We have a responsability to pave the way with “truth”. No coverups in this Faith Walk.
It’s so refreshing to hear prayer and the name of God spoken from this White House. Thank you.
