Living on the Right Side of Glory—Winning the Battle Every Day
The following is an excerpt from our devotional series Living on the Right Side of Glory.
As we move into this arena of KNOWING we are sons and daughters and KNOWING that we carry the glory of our King, we can still sometimes become distracted and sidetracked by our own fears and insecurities.
Pray for your fellow intercessor.
Simply speaking (not saying easy) we must take every thought captive. Remember WHO our battle is against. The enemy is a deceiver and he would love nothing more than for us to become fear-ridden, self-focused, self-absorbed…
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Cor 10:5 NIV)
We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One. (2 Cor 10:5 TPT)
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. (Eph 6:12 AMP)
Let’s reorient our thoughts, so that HIS Name and HIS presence become the focal point of our gaze. Let’s pray that HE would become the filter through which we pass every thought.
PRAYER:
Lord, forgive us when we allow ourselves to become consumed by our emotions with our present circumstances. Help us instead to turn our way of thinking towards becoming a people who are consumed by You and Your righteousness. Help us to be a people consumed by kingdom living rather than by pit dwelling. We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus, even this side of heaven. As sons and daughters of the King on high, there is victory to be had.
Help us Father to live as sons and daughters. Help us to live in the reality of what Jesus has accomplished – that we might live life abundantly and bear His image (1 Cor 15:45—49). His blood paid our ransom (1 Tim 2:5-6). We are set free to live not under the law but to live by the Spirit (Rom 8:2-6). As people who live by the Spirit, let us not be moved or consumed by the injustice of what happens around us. But let us be moved by YOU! Help us to readily pivot our gaze to YOU rather than be locked into offense, deception, or any carnal thinking.
Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. (1 Pt 5:8 AMP)
Jesus told this simple story, but they had no idea what he was talking about. So he tried again. “I’ll be explicit, then. I am the Gate for the sheep. All those others are up to no good—sheep rustlers, every one of them. But the sheep didn’t listen to them. I am the Gate. Anyone who goes through me will be cared for—will freely go in and out, and find pasture. A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of. “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd puts the sheep before himself, sacrifices himself if necessary. A hired man is not a real shepherd. The sheep mean nothing to him. He sees a wolf come and runs for it, leaving the sheep to be ravaged and scattered by the wolf. He’s only in it for the money. The sheep don’t matter to him. (Jn 10:6-13 MSG)
Let us be a people who are consumed with bringing Your kingdom to earth as it is in heaven. Help us to be consumed with bringing Your glory and presence onto the scene. Help us to be a people who are not moved by fear but moved by love and compassion. Help us to be a people not moved by unforgiveness, bitterness, and injustice but a people moved by Truth.
Forgive us for living anything other than the fullness of what You have for us. We pick up our cross, not to live under the shame and condemnation of it, but to choose to LIVE for You and You alone. Help us to be a people who live for Your glory, honor, and praise. Your name carries the victory. We raise high that banner today! In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
A CHALLENGE MOVING FORWARD:
Will you choose to pivot every moment your thoughts veer away from Him? This will become a lifelong effort and habit, but it must begin with a decision – the decision to shift our gaze and reorient our lives so that CHOOSING Him moment by moment will become our heart’s desire.
