The Lindsay Clancy case is one of those rare murder cases that really isn’t about the facts of the case. – a young mother who murdered her three children in cold blood.

Yet millions of women in the U.S. are not horrified that a mother did this. Instead, they identify with the murderer, are howling in outrage that a trial even took place at all, and furious that one lone male juror refused to find her not guilty.

They wear pink in support of her. They have donated over a million dollars to her parents’ GoFundMe page. They post online that they are the “same” as Lindsay, which I take to mean that they, too, could kill their children.

The Clancy trial and its hung jury aftermath have become a flashpoint on social media, on YouTube, in opinion pages, and even around the dinner table. The Clancy trial feels to me like a major battle in the culture wars, the gender wars, and, of course, in the spiritual realm.

Have we crossed a line? What will it mean moving forward? Here are my 5 takeaways from the Clancy Trial.

1. The bond between mother and child is being destroyed.

Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molek, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord. (Leviticus 18:21 NIV)

After 53 years of abortion on demand in our nation, is this the next step in erasing the sacred bond of mother and child?

Is murdering your unborn child up until the moment of birth no longer a big enough sacrifice to Molek?

It sure seems so with Clancy’s defense attorney saying… It’s okay! Mothers can murder their children at any age if they can prove they had a mental breakdown, were anxious or depressed, their kids were too much to handle, or they weren’t really cut out for motherhood.

The pro-abortion movement has done incredible damage to that sacred bond between mother and child. Abortion has been canonized in our culture as “reproductive healthcare,” not murder.

Long gone is the safe, legal, and rare spin on abortion of the Clinton years. Now, legislation allowing abortion until birth is gaining traction in blue states.

Long gone is the shame of having an abortion. It’s now to be celebrated. Women proclaim,… My life is so much better, fulfilling, freer because I’m not “burdened” with a baby. Pregnancy is often described as a disease.

The life of a baby in the womb has no value to pro-abortion women.

For decades, women have been told that their fulfillment can only come from a career, in finding themselves, or in being selfish. Babies prevent you from achieving your best life. Remember Hillary Clinton’s put-down of stay-at-home moms in 1992, “I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do was to fulfill my profession.”

She’s a cultural icon to the Angry White Female Liberal (AWFL) women who make up the core base of the Clancy Support Crowd. As is Gloria Steinham, who told generations of women that having a baby would narrow their possibilities in life. They believed her.

Women are also fed the lie that it is unethical to have a baby because of the “climate crisis.” In fact, 1 in 4 women between 18 and 49 cite the environment as their reason not to have children.

Feminists tell women that mothers are oppressed victims of a patriarchal society and broken system, designed to make mothers feel inadequate, anxious, and unsupported. No wonder the love and bonds of motherhood are weakening.

For five decades, culture has demeaned and loosened the bond between mother and child. A million abortions a year. Thousands of children have been killed by their mothers since 2022.

The Clancy trail feels like a turning point.

Will society move further down the path of excusing murder as just some sort of weird “advanced abortion”? The cultural risk of Lindsay Clancy and the final outcome of her trial may be to sever the bond of motherhood for Clancy’s followers completely.

Moving forward, will a mother no longer be held legally responsible for killing her child at any age for any reason?

2. Jurors ignored the facts.

Evil men [and women] do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand all. (Proverbs 28:5)

The facts are quite simple in this case. Lindsay Clancy strangled her three kids – one by one – with exercise bands in the basement of her home in January 2023. She sent her husband out to do errands and, in the space of about 18 minutes, killed all three. Her husband even called her from the road, and she acted like nothing was wrong. She said a male voice told her to do it.

After killing her kids, she ran upstairs, slashed her neck and arms, and jumped out the second-story window. She survived her suicide attempt but is paralyzed from the waist down.

Clancy admits to the murders, so the trial was never about whether she did it. The jury did not have to decide that. They were left with deciding whether she knew that killing her kids was wrong at the time she committed the murders. If not, she’s not guilty by reason of insanity.

Prosecution said she did. Defense says she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

Postpartum depression affects 1 in 7 women and can last a few days or up to several months. Postpartum psychosis is extremely rare, affecting 1 in 1,000 women, and is considered a mental health emergency.

The murder trial heard testimony from 85 witnesses over 21 days. Family and friends testified she was a loving mother. Her diary suggests she resented her kids. She asked for help, but never told her therapists she had thoughts of harming her kids, or hearing voices, and was never diagnosed with postpartum psychosis prior to the murders. Psychiatrists who treated her after the murders say she heard a male voice that night, urging her to kill her kids; she must be suffering from postpartum psychosis. She has never heard that voice again.

Clancy was prescribed 30 prescriptions of 13 different medications by five providers and two hospitals in the four months prior to her crime, mostly anti-anxiety, anti-depression, and sleep aids. Yet she only took a fraction of the pills prescribed, and toxicology reports testified that the drugs in her system were well below toxic or suicidal levels.

She took her children one by one down to the basement, strangling each of them for two minutes or more. She was a nurse, so she probably knew they were dead. Her husband even called her from the road in the middle of the killings and said she sounded quiet and busy. He thought she was bathing the kids, not murdering them.

After the brutal murders, she grabbed a large kitchen knife, slashed her neck and arms, and jumped out of her bedroom window. At the E.R., her wounds are called “superficial” by doctors treating her. She is left paralyzed by her jump from 12 feet to the ground below.

That’s a brief synopsis of the facts. The jury, consisting of nine women (mostly teachers and nurses) and three men, deliberated for 40 hours over seven days. The result was 11-1 in favor of not guilty by reason of insanity. One lone juror didn’t believe Clancy’s insanity defense. The judge declares a mistrial.

The Jurors Speak

Three female jurors rushed to the cameras to tell of their frustrations with the one holdout juror.

Juror Paula Devlin said he was arrogant and didn’t take anything we said, including not listening to the nurses on the panel who explained the toxicology reports. “How dare he ignore us?” cried the irritated juror. The nurses may have been in violation of the judge’s instructions requiring jurors to only consider the facts and evidence presented at trial, such as the toxicology experts, and not the nurses in the room.

Jury foreman, Ronnie Clark, claims the holdout had reasonable doubt. Before even taking the vote, the foreperson said she was “excited” to fill out the forms and sign them. Imagine being excited to declare a confessed murderer not guilty. She was mad that the lone juror said, “I’m still not going to say she’s not guilty by reason of insanity.” She plans on attending the retrial.

Juror Kelly Ferina simply couldn’t believe that the lone juror, “had the hardest time getting off the fact that Lindsay viciously killed her children.” Yes, Kelly, so do most of us. Why wasn’t it difficult for you?

A fourth anonymous female juror believes many jurors, not just the lone juror, were unwilling to see things from the other side from the outset of deliberations.

A male juror, Nick Dargie, was shocked when the lone holdout juror wrapped one of the exercise bands Clancy used to kill her kids around a water bottle and reenacted the killing. ‘That’s disgusting,” Dargie said. Yes, it is disgusting to kill your three children under five. Did you consider autopsy reports on just how painful and disgusting strangling a child actually is?

The Clancy trial shows that political ideologies supersede facts and evidence. Our society appears to be moving away from judging outcomes based on facts and the rule of law.

Instead, as these female jurors have revealed… we’re judging guilt or innocence through the lens of our own personal experiences and feelings.

3. Calling evil understandable and excusable

When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers. (Proverbs 21:15 NIV)

God warns us in Isaiah 5:20 about calling evil good and good evil. It’s what abortionists do. I don’t think the Clancy jurors and supporters are calling murder good – yet – but they are saying they understand why she killed and proclaiming her actions excusable.

That’s a mighty leap in our culture. How close are we to legally approving killing your kids after birth? Looks like it’s getting closer by the minute.

Perhaps the most frightening aspect of this case has been the legion of women online and at the courthouse wearing pink and carrying signs that say ‘Believe Lindsay.” We do believe her. She said she killed her kids.

These women posting on social media in support of Clancy are not dealing in reality… and perhaps even suffering some level of mental illness themselves. For instance:

TikTok moms are filming, hurting their own children, and wanting to demonstrate how much they are suffering as women and mothers.

TikTok moms are seen carrying their babies and then casually throwing them over the staircase, or stuffing them in the dryer or oven. Granted, the actual babies were switched out for dolls before throwing them, but the message is pretty clear. I could murder my children, too… just like Lindsay.

Thousands of TikTok moms hold their babies with captions saying…. “Same, Lindsay.” “Me-too, Lindsay.” Are their babies in danger of being murdered?

These women proclaim… ‘We are all Lindsay Clancy. We’re victims. We’re oppressed. We could murder too.’ Is anyone calling Child Protection Services on these duped and dangerous moms?

Are we seeing the rise of the Clancy Copycat Killers?

On September 1, Corey Walsh, a mother and avid follower of the Clancy trial, led her two-year-old child down to the basement and hung him from the rafters. She’s charged with murder. Her lawyer says she suffered a psychotic break.

In May of 2026, another Massachusetts mom, Janette MacAusland, strangled her two children, 7-year-old Kai and 6-year-old Ella. She told police, “I killed them and tried to kill myself.” Like Clancy, she too had cut her neck, just not deep enough to kill herself. She said, “I wanted the three of us to go to God together.” Just like what Clancy said as she strangled her children, “Go to God, baby.” Like Clancy, she pleaded not guilty. A week after the Clancy mistrial, MacAusland’s lawyer is asking the case to be dismissed, saying, “Clearly, she was and is suffering. And like too many other women, institutions have failed her.” He also had a message for prosecutors: “Let’s not go back and fall back on the default position that when a woman is mentally ill, we automatically prosecute her to the fullest extent of the law.”

On a recent Oprah Winfrey podcast taped in Massachusetts, filled with women sympathetic to Clancy, Dr. Kameelah Phillips, a black obstetrician, injected race. She said, “There are women of color sitting around this country in prisons for the same thing we never heard of. I just wanna remind us to have the pink shirts and the energy for them as well. I want us to have the same passion for people who don’t look like Lindsay, who don’t have the same access… her education, her melanin, her privilege.” The audience erupted in applause.

We must have passion for women who kill their children… and give them a get-out-of-jail card free? Is this the dark path these women are now forcing us to travel down?

Are we seeing John Wesley’s proclamation coming true for mom killers?” We’ve already seen it come true with abortion. Now, this generation of women appears to be accepting the murder of the children as understandable, excusable, and not really a sin. Will the next generation of women be celebrating the murder of their born children?

Are we passing the evil of the days of Noah?

4. Feminism took a HUGE step backward.

Thus says the Lord: “Keep justice, and do righteousness, for My salvation is about to come, and My righteousness be revealed. (Isaiah 56:1)

The Lindsay trial may set the status of women’s equality back a generation or two.

For over 100 years, women have fought for their rights – the right to vote, the right to open a bank account, the right to own property, and the right to receive equal pay for equal work. Women now even have the right to have male body parts.

A woman had the right to have it all… a career, marriage, and children … all at once. Lindsay is such a smart, capable woman – Labor and Delivery nurse, wife, and supposedly a loving mom. Until she wasn’t.

According to her jurors, she was so emotional that she could no longer control her actions. For months, she was on an emotional rollercoaster. For 18 minutes, she lost her mind and did the unthinkable.

Should women in their childbearing years ever be given a position of responsibility if they can snap in an instant? Can women police officers be trusted with guns when they return from maternity leave? Can we trust a woman president with the nuclear codes, if she could start a nuclear war in the midst of a sudden mental breakdown?

What’s the one true, hard lesson of the Clancy case… according to feminists? It’s this…

Women can have it all! Until they snap and kill their babies. But it’s not their fault because their doctors and psychiatrists, their medications, the patriarchy society, their husbands, and their children all failed them.

Is the nest right feminist want… the right to get away with murder.

The Clancy trial proves women are not the same as men. Because when a dad kills their children, it’s called murder. When a mom kills their kids, it’s called “healthcare.”

5. Justice for the innocent was denied.

Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you. (Deuteronomy 16:20 ESV)

Lindsay Clancy may have needed help for her mental health issues. But her three innocent children, viciously murdered by their mother, deserve justice. Two things can be true at the same time.

The Clancy jury chose empathy for the mom over justice for her murdered children, as did Clancy’s Pink Army rallying for the murderous mom.

Say their names: Clancy Crowd – 5-year-old Cora who loved to wear big bows in her hair… 3-year-old Dawson who was his daddy’s little buddy… and 8-month-old Callum with the big, beautiful smile.

They are the true victims – the innocents.

Yet eleven jurors appear to have been swayed by their emotions, not the facts or emotions. At least one juror – as well as many Americans – found Clancy’s actions showed a degree of planning that didn’t quite square with psychosis.

Results of the YouGov America poll taken September 4-8 revealed 46% of all adults thought Clancy should be found guilty of murder. 21% said not guilty. The rest are not sure. But when you break it down by identity, 51% of men thought she was guilty, as did 41% of women. 34% of Democrats, 43% of Independents, and 61% of Republicans.

The Clancy jury didn’t reflect those results. From what we’ve heard so far, at least three female jurors appear to have decided to support and empathize with Clancy from the prosecution’s opening statement, which they characterized as “harsh.” Yes, it is harsh to cold-bloodedly kill your children.

If there was a failure in this case, it was in the selection of the jury. Maybe next time, the prosecution will choose wisely.

Final Thoughts

The Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts Himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him. Isaiah 30:19

God does call us to love and forgiveness. And Lindsay Clancy is not outside God’s love, and certainly His forgiveness is available to her if she repents of her sin.

We as Christians can and must love and forgive Lindsay Clancy and pray for her salvation. Yet we must also demand accountability and punishment for her sinful actions. She chose death for her innocent children. She broke the sixth commandment, ‘Thou shalt not kill,’ and there’s no mention of exceptions for mental illness.

Perhaps I could have more sympathy for Lindsay Clancy if she weren’t trying so hard to avoid punishment for her crimes. If she is found not guilty by reason of insanity, she could be out of the locked-up psychiatric facility in six months. Her lawyer says she’s not suffering from any psychosis now. She’s suing her doctors for malpractice and could win millions. She’ll write a book and all the Clancy moms will buy it.

The only time Clancy sobbed in the trial was when the medical examiner was describing how Cora died and the condition of her body. It’s hard for me to believe her tears were for her dead children and not for herself,

Perhaps if she had stood up then, and said, ‘Lock me up. I killed my kids. Throw away the key.’ That’s what a loving mother would do if she no longer suffers from psychosis. The grief and guilt should be enormous. But Lindsay doesn’t say that… and her legion of fans says she doesn’t have to.

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Again, you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘Whoever of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell in Israel, who gives any of his descendants to Molech, he shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. I will set My face against that man, and will cut him off from his people, because he has given some of his descendants to Molech, to defile My sanctuary and profane My holy name. And if the people of the land should in any way hide their eyes from the man, when he gives some of his descendants to Molech, and they do not kill him, then I will set My face against that man and against his family; and I will cut him off from his people, and all who prostitute themselves with him to commit harlotry with Molech. (Leviticus 20: 1-5)
