Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced Friday that she will resign from her position at the end of June in order to care for her husband following a devastating cancer diagnosis. The announcement comes after more than a year of major reforms and high-profile transparency efforts within the U.S. intelligence community under her leadership.

Pray for your fellow intercessor.

From Fox News:

Tulsi Gabbard is resigning from her post as Director of National Intelligence to support her husband through his battle with “an extremely rare form of bone cancer,” Fox News Digital learned.

Gabbard notified President Donald Trump during a meeting in the Oval Office Friday. Her last day at ODNI is expected to be June 30.

Fox News Digital exclusively obtained her formal resignation letter, in which Gabbard says she is “deeply grateful for the trust you placed in me and for the opportunity to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence for the last year and a half.”

Gabbard praised her husband, Abraham, for standing beside her through military deployments, political campaigns, and her service as DNI, saying his “strength and love” sustained her through every challenge. She said she could not ask him to face this battle alone while continuing in such a demanding role.

During her tenure, Gabbard became one of the most controversial and transformative intelligence leaders in recent memory. She spearheaded efforts to reduce the size of the intelligence community bureaucracy, dismantle diversity and equity programs inside federal intelligence agencies, and declassify hundreds of thousands of pages of government records tied to major historical and political investigations.

Among the most significant disclosures were records connected to the Trump-Russia investigation, the JFK and RFK assassinations, and the origins of the Crossfire Hurricane probe. Gabbard also launched a “Weaponization Working Group” focused on exposing alleged political misuse of federal agencies under the Biden administration.

Supporters praised Gabbard for pushing transparency and accountability inside agencies often criticized for secrecy and politicization. Critics, however, accused her of undermining public trust in intelligence institutions and amplifying partisan investigations.

Regardless of politics, Gabbard’s resignation is a sobering reminder that even those serving in the highest levels of government face deeply personal trials and painful family battles. Let’s pray for healing, strength, wisdom, and peace for the Gabbard family during this difficult season.
