In an interview with Fox Newsā Sean Hannity, Trump said Beijing would buy 200 Boeing 737 jets, as well as soybeans, oil, liquefied natural gas, and other energy commodities.
āWe had a very good meeting, but we want things from them,ā Trump said. āOne thing he agreed to today is heās going to order 200 jets from Boeing.ā
Boeing wanted China to buy 150 jets, but China agreed to exceed that number, Trump said. The CEO of Boeing, Kelly Ortberg, joined Trump on the trip, along with other aerospace and defense, technology, and fintech industry leaders.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had previously said he expected to see ālarge Boeing ordersā as a result of the China trip.
Trump said the investment will create many American jobs. The Chinese leader also promised not to send military equipment to Iran.
āHe said heās not going to give military equipment,ā Trump told Hannity. āThatās a big statement. He said that today.ā
āHe said that strongly, but at the same time he said, you know, they buy a lot of their oil there and theyād like to keep doing that. Heād like to see Hormuz Strait opened,ā he continued.
Trump and Xi held a two-hour-and-15-minute bilateral meeting on Thursday.
The two leaders āagreed that the Strait of Hormuz must remain open to support the free flow of energy,ā a White House official said.
āPresident Xi also made clear Chinaās opposition to the militarization of the Strait and any effort to charge a toll for its use, and he expressed interest in purchasing more American oil to reduce Chinaās dependence on the Strait in the future,ā the official continued.
According to Chinese state mediaĀ Xinhua,Ā Xi, referring to Taiwan, told Trump: āIf handled poorly, the two countries could collide or even enter into conflict, pushing the entire China-U.S. relationship into an extremely dangerous place.ā
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, accompanying Trump in China, confirmed to NBC News that the issue of Taiwan was discussed, saying the Chinese āalways raise it on their side, we always make clear our position, and we move on to the other topics.ā
