The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a short-term extension of a controversial surveillance law, highlighting both national security concerns and ongoing debate over government overreach—while also revealing a notable shift in President Trump’s stance on the issue.

Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.

From The Epoch Times:

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill in the early hours of April 17 extending Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), a law that grants the government authority for warrantless surveillance.

The bill cleared the House by unanimous consent, extending the reauthorization of FISA until April 30, after Republicans pushed for a longer, five-year extension, which was not approved.

The measure will now head to the Senate for a vote, which faces a tight deadline as the authorization is set to expire on April 20.

Section 702 of FISA has long been one of the most debated intelligence tools in Washington. While it allows U.S. agencies to collect intelligence on foreign nationals outside the country, it also permits the “incidental” collection of data from Americans—without a warrant. This has raised serious concerns among lawmakers and civil liberties advocates who warn of potential abuse.

President Trump has been one of the most vocal critics of that abuse in the past, especially after revelations that his 2016 campaign was surveilled during the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. He previously condemned FISA as a tool that had been weaponized against him and his team. However, his recent comments signal a clear shift. Now, the President is urging Republicans to support extending the law, emphasizing that military leaders consider it “vital” for national security—particularly as tensions with Iran continue.

This evolution reflects a broader tension between safeguarding civil liberties and ensuring national security. While some lawmakers, including Representative Jim Himes, are pushing for reforms requiring warrants before accessing Americans’ data, others argue that weakening Section 702 could put the nation at risk during a time of global instability.

As this debate continues in the Senate, let’s pray for truth, justice, and the protection of both freedom and security.

I wish for its failure because of the misuse and abuse of it by the deep state, demoncrats, and all who want to make America socialist. But maybe it is needed now to root out those previously mentioned. I pray that God guide all involved in using it with justice and righteousness. I trust in God’s will to take care of this.

Father in heaven hallowed be Thy name; may Thy kingdom come and Thy will be done… Open our eyes to Jesus and the glory of God. Help and keep us from evil. Lead us not into temptation. Show us Your ways and will, Your truth and what is eternal and real, lead us in paths of righteousness for Thy names sake and into Yoir presence with great joy and peace. The issue of the day is oil. Oil is symbolic of Holy Spirit in scripture. The supposed oil crisis (there is plenty available) is driving up the cost of everything. The Lord’s people incur great consequences and costs by acting in their own strength and not by the Holy Spirit of life… “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” “It’s not by power, it’s not by might, it’s by my Spirit says the LORD Almighty.”
America has drifted from God, The church is not standing for righteousness and truth other than a small remnant of faithful. Our government on all levels is decaying with corruption. Families are fragmented and broken or distracted by pursuing worldly wealth, power, and purposes instead of eternal, heavenly, and holy purposes which Holy Spirit can lead us into. The parable of the Ten Virgins is Christ’s warning to the end times ekklesia. Repentance is a change of mind that touches our hearts bringing revival and times of renewal and refreshing. The Lord is using signs, trials, wonders, world events, and is “shaking everything that can be shaken”, so that what remains will be pure. “Without holiness no one can see God”. The cross provided the cleansing so that the Spirit can come in to bring life, endue with power, and lead us into all truth and the fullness of Christ. Fast and pray, ask, seek, and keep knocking on heaven’s door for filling of oil, Holy Spirit… Confess any known sin, unbelief, or fear. “Whatever is not of faith is sin.” “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Get what is most necessary for life, freedom, and wisdom as we will be facing the greatest challenges our world has ever experienced in these last days. Read God’s words of prophecy from Genesis to Revelation and understand by the filling of Holy Spirit the mind of God. Abba and Jesus are willing to give Holy Spirit to those who will humble themselves and seek Them above all else. Don’t be like the five unwise virgins who had no oil for their lamps. Be the light shining in gross darkness by “My Spirit says the LORD Almighty “.

I think this should be time limited i.e. until they feel they have closed in on what is happening at a certain time or 2 yrs, or until this President is done.
