Hegseth Prays for Troops and Biblical Wisdom
United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is offering prayers for members of the U.S. Armed Forces who find themselves in the line of fire amid escalating tensions with Iran, insisting that prayer plays a role in “every decision” that the Trump administration makes when it comes to foreign policy.
Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.
In a press conference Monday, Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine provided updates on the ongoing Operation Epic Fury in Iran. In response to a question from a reporter asking what his prayer was for members of the armed forces that “are in harm’s way right now,” Hegseth declared, “My prayer for them is that I do pray for them.”
“My wife prays for them. Our family prays for them. Our cabinet prays for them,” he added. “None of this is done on a whim.”
Hegseth added, “I know we think about them with every decision that we make and every recommendation that we make to the president of the United States. Those recommendations are made prayerfully, and when I pray every day for them and for this mission, I pray simply for the biblical wisdom to seek what is right and the courage to do it.”
“It’s going to take courage to follow through on this. There’s going to be a lot of noise and we pray for that, and we hope all of you do too,” he concluded.
Hegseth began the press conference by delivering a message directly to members of the armed forces serving on the front lines. “May Almighty God watch over you and His providential arms of protection extend over you,” he proclaimed. “Godspeed, warriors — and keep going.”
President Donald Trump also asked God to watch over members of the armed forces as he first announced Operation Epic Fury in a speech broadcast to the nation Saturday: “We pray for every service member as they selflessly risk their lives to ensure that Americans and our children will never be threatened by a nuclear-armed Iran. We ask God to protect all of our heroes in harm’s way, and we trust that with His help, the men and women of the armed forces will prevail. We have the greatest in the world and they will prevail.”
The comments from top officials in the Trump administration, including Trump himself, invoking God when discussing Operation Epic Fury, come as Christian leaders have offered mixed reactions to the ongoing mission that has toppled the leader of the Middle Eastern country.
While the Rev. Franklin Graham, CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, encouraged his followers to pray for Trump as well as “those in our military who are risking their lives to protect America and bring freedom to the Iranian people,” progressive Christian activist Shane Claiborne condemned Operation Epic Fury. “Violence only begets more violence,” he wrote in a social media post. “When we live by the sword, we die by the sword.”
“Two wrongs never make a right. It is impossible to love our enemies as Christ commands and simultaneously prepare to kill them,” Claiborne added.

Thank you, Father, for Pete Hegseth and his faith in you. Give him much wisdom as he leads the Department of War. May this battle end quickly and the people of Iran freed from tyranny. Protect Secretary Hegseth and his family.
Beginning in Tripoli, Libya, my early years were spent on Air Force bases around the world. To this day but so many years later, I remain proud to be an Air Force brat. Through the leadership of Pete Hegseth, Raizin Caine, Moe Mahoney as well as ALL the support troops throughout the branches of service, our nation has experienced a seismic shift. And I believe we desperately needed a fundamental reorientation after the damage of the last administration.

Dear Heavenly Father, I believe every good and perfect gift is from You, You are Father of the heavenly lights. You are unshifting. And unlike us, You don’t change Your mind or play tricks in the shadows. Everything has been made for Your purpose—even the wicked fit in Your plans but we know troubled times await them. Thank you for continuing to reveal the dangers of the last administration and I pray it pleases You to save and revive America. Thank You for choosing Pete Hegseth as Your own and for choosing the other faithful men and women who serve in this administration. Thank You for giving them key roles in Your purpose. I believe You have. I pray You will bring revelations of TRUTH upon the disbelieving members of our nation. Throughout Your recorded history…The Word of God…The Holy Bible, You have told us to be strong and courageous and I am so thankful that our current leadership remains alert, standing firm in faith to demonstrate courage and strength. May the love of Christ prevail in their lives and our lives. And no matter how difficult, may the love of Christ prevail in their words and actions… our words and action. I pray You are showering Your favor upon all who pray for Your Wisdom and I do so in the Name of Jesus Christ, You Son, our Savior…The Messiah.. Amen
Heavenly Father forgive us as a nation that have not always done Your will. Lead is not into sin but help us to return back to you daily. It is not by our power or might but by your sovereignty and lordship. We cry out to you for direction and help, to change lives and hearts to glorify You. We ask this and for all your mercy with grace in the name of Jesus
Thank you President Trump and Secretary of War Hegseth for your bold and decisive action on behalf of America! God bless and direct your steps.
Father we thank you for leaders like Pete Hegseth who call on your name and seek Your guidance. Bless him and our nation as we keep our eyes on doing your will and giving you glory. Amen
Unfortunately, Hegseth, and the administration utter such words but behave with an arrogant, gloating ‘God is on our side’ and law does not matter mentality. They think what they do is right, well it must be for we can keep the evangelicals on side – with a little prayer and prophecy. The death and maiming of innocent civilians is just unfortunate.
Being manipulated into war by Israel and cozying up to Putin in Ukraine is hardly sound foreign policy.
America has a long history of gross errors, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. and now another one looms.
Blessed are the peacemakers.
Thank you, father God forgive us leaders that pray to you and seek your wisdom. May they feel your presence and your guidance in Jesus name amen.
