Reaching the Unreached: How Code Blue Is Transforming Missions in Afghanistan
What if the same technology that connects billions of people around the world could also be used to bring the gospel into some of the most dangerous and spiritually unreached places on earth? That’s exactly what a missionary initiative called Code Blue is working to accomplish.

In a special interview, IFA Chief Program Officer Kris Kubal spoke with Josh Sutton, founder and CEO of Paravel Insights, and “Ron,” a missionary strategist behind Code Blue, about innovative strategies for reaching people with the gospel in Afghanistan. Their approach combines modern technology, social media, and partnerships with indigenous missionaries to share the message of Jesus Christ in places where traditional missionary work can be extraordinarily dangerous.
Josh explained how their team used portions of a Christian film, translated into the local language, to reach millions of people in southern Afghanistan. Working alongside local missionaries, the initiative reportedly helped lead more than 50 people to Christ and baptism, an extraordinary result in a region where openly following Jesus can come at a tremendous personal cost.
But these breakthroughs have not come without danger. One of the missionaries involved, identified only as “Peter” for his protection, has reportedly been captured by the Taliban and faces the threat of execution. His situation underscores both the risks of sharing the gospel in Afghanistan and the urgent need for prayer as ministries like Code Blue continue their work.
Watch the interview below to discover how Code Blue is using new strategies to reach the unreached, hear remarkable stories of faith from Afghanistan, and learn how you can pray for those on the front lines of missions.
As technology opens new doors for sharing the gospel, let’s pray that God would give ministries like Code Blue wisdom, creativity, and protection as they reach people who might otherwise never hear the name of Jesus. Pray that the seeds planted through these efforts would produce lasting fruit, that new believers would grow strong in their faith, and that the underground church in Afghanistan would flourish despite persecution. Let’s also lift up Peter, asking the Lord to strengthen him, protect him, and miraculously deliver him from captivity, just as He delivered the apostle Peter in Acts 12.
