In a recent interview, Democratic mayoral candidate in Minneapolis Omar Fateh said his first priority if elected would be to oppose President Trump, who he claims is making “undocumented residents … very concerned.”

Fateh won the endorsement of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor party in July over Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis, making him the favorite to win the general election in the city. Fateh — when asked by a reporter — laid out his priorities in a clip posted to X on Monday, claiming President Donald Trump was causing concern for “our neighbors.”
“Day one, if you were elected, what would be some of your top two, three priorities for the city?” the reporter asked Fateh.

“So that’s a very good question,” Fateh said. “So the first, I would say, would be a hostile federal government, with not only Donald Trump in office, but he has essentially a trifecta, both chambers of Congress and the Supreme Court. And a lot of our neighbors, especially our undocumented residents, are very concerned.”

The Caller notes that many have compared Fateh to Zohran Mamdani, a similar mayoral candidate in New York City. Both candidates have made headlines for their socialist views, and both candidates have attracted the ire of those on the Right for siding with foreigners and illegal immigrants over American citizens.
Fateh is not the only politician promising to oppose Trump in office, but he is one of the most fascinating cases. What business does a mayor in the Midwest have with opposing the President? Shouldn’t his top priority have more to do with his town?
The Caller notes that Fateh is expected to be Minneapolis’ next mayoral election. His socialist ideals could spell disaster for Minneapolis. Let’s pray for God to bless, strengthen, and protect this city!
