Praying for the Trump Transition - Live Now

Father, we ask You to move in power in the Middle East. Please protect Israel and let Your will be done in Syria and beyond.

Over the weekend, Syria’s leadership was ousted by radical Islamist rebels. How will this impact the Middle East?

From Fox News. Syria’s future remains unclear after Islamist rebels toppled the Assad regime, seizing control of Damascus and driving the Syrian dictator out of the country. …

“Who knows what’s next?” former Deputy National Security Adviser K.T. McFarland asked.

McFarland joined “Fox & Friends Weekend” to discuss the unrest. …

“[Bashar Assad] was weak and incompetent, and he was propped up in governance in Syria by Iran and by Russia, by Russian forces, by Russian military equipment, by, in some sense, Iran’s money, but they’re preoccupied now… Iran is preoccupied because of what Israel did to Iran and Hezbollah and Russia is preoccupied because of Ukraine and a faltering economy, so those two guys propping up Assad, they’re not, they were propping him up as well,” she said.

“But the [multiple] rebel groups got together, and they saw a moment of opportunity, and they moved into Syria… and President Trump is so right to say, ‘let it play out. This is not our fight.’ I’m just sorry we have 900 American forces in that country because who knows? Are they sitting targets? Are they potential hostages? What’s their role going to be? We don’t know.” …

Dan Hoffman, former CIA station chief, warned that the development poses a “widely complex challenge” to U.S. national security that awaits the Trump administration when the president-elect assumes office next month.

“The concern I think that we would have going forward is the potential for a power vacuum here. We saw this in Iraq and in Libya and terrorists take advantage of that, and the concern I think we have is that potentially terrorists may be flocking to Syria right now, seeking to take advantage of just that,” he explained. …

From Breitbart. Ousted former Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad has found asylum in Russia after fleeing his country on Sunday …

Russian President Vladimir Putin had propped up the Assad regime for ten years, an extension of Soviet-era support. But with troops tied down in Ukraine, he could not help defend the regime when Syrian rebels began advancing after Hezbollah had been decimated by Israel in the Lebanon war.

The BBC reported: “Deposed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his family have arrived in Moscow, Russian state media agencies report, citing sources in the Kremlin.” It added that Russian sources reported that Assad had been given asylum …

From BBC. Israel’s prime minister has announced its military has temporarily seized control of a demilitarized buffer zone in the Golan Heights, saying the 1974 disengagement agreement with Syria had “collapsed” with the rebel takeover of the country.

Benjamin Netanyahu said he had ordered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to enter the buffer zone and “commanding positions nearby” from the Israeli-occupied part of the Golan.

“We will not allow any hostile force to establish itself on our border,” he said. …

The Golan Heights is a rocky plateau about 60km (40 miles) south-west of Damascus.

Israel seized the Golan from Syria in the closing stages of the 1967 Six-Day War and unilaterally annexed it in 1981. …

The Israeli move in the buffer zone came after Syrian rebel fighters captured the capital, Damascus, and toppled Bashar al-Assad’s regime. He and his father had been in power in the country since 1971.

Forces led by the Islamist opposition group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) entered Damascus in the early hours of Sunday morning, before appearing on state television to declare Syria to now be “free”.

Netanyahu said the collapse of the Assad regime was a “historic day in the Middle East”. …

The IDF seizure of Syrian positions in the buffer zone was a “temporary defensive position until a suitable arrangement is found”, he said. …

Israel is especially concerned about who might get their hands on Bashar al-Assad’s alleged arsenal of chemical weapons. …

Israel will now be trying to calculate what comes next in Syria. Like everyone, it can only guess.

From The Epoch Times. President Joe Biden said Sunday that the U.S. government believes missing American journalist Austin Tice, who disappeared 12 years ago near the Syrian capital, is alive and that Washington is committed to bringing him home after Bashar Assad’s ouster from power in Damascus.

“We think we can get him back,“ Biden told reporters at the White House, while acknowledging that “we have no direct evidence” of his status. ”Assad should be held accountable.”

Biden said officials must still identify exactly where Tice is after his disappearance in August 2012 at a checkpoint in a contested area west of Damascus. …

A video released weeks after Tice went missing showed him blindfolded and held by armed men and saying, “Oh, Jesus.” He has not been heard from since. Syria has publicly denied that it was holding him. …

His mother, Debra, said at a news conference Friday in Washington that the family had information from a “significant source,” whom she did not identify, establishing that her son was alive. …

Pray for missing U.S. journalist in Syria, Austin Tice, to be returned home. He has been missing for 12 years and reports indicate he is alive. May God speedily deliver him safely home to his family!

Joel 3:14-16  Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.  The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.  The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.
YHVH, these are those days – and I pray that many will recognize and embrace Yeshua as Israel’s Messiah and therefore the Savior offered to the nations. Each one must decide whether he/she will do so, and that decision seals his/her eternity.
But You are accomplishing what You desire in this earthly realm – raising up and taking down rulers and kingdoms.  Thank you for continuing to judge evil regimes and bring their destruction. Please act in mercy toward the citizens of Syria, who have suffered terribly for 50+ years, and raise up leadership who will allow healing, restoration and rebuilding. We welcome steps toward the Isaiah 19 highway.

“FATHER, watch over US Army Rangers and Syrian Christians, Jews, Kurds, Druze, Circassians… IN YESHUA’S HOLY NAME AMEN AMEN” dennis

From jpost.com “‘Murdering Kurds on the street’: Syrian Druze warns of Islamist Extremism” …factions that took over Aleppo destroyed Christmas trees that were set up for the holiday. They are murdering Kurds in the streets,” he noted, adding, “Their slogans are ‘Jihad’ and ‘Allahu Akbar.'”

Isaiah 45: 23  I make this solemn vow; I have spoken a word—
faithful and true—and it will not return; it will be done.
 My words have wings; they will be accomplished;
every knee will bow down to Me.
Every tongue will swear allegiance to Me.

Dear Lord, You are Almighty God and if the wicked are not trembling, they are foolish. As I was praying for Syria, I asked for this country to be returned to Syrians: not Islamists, not Turks, not Israelis, not Americans, You turned my thinking to rebuilding and restoring…removing every vestige of evil suffered in the past 50 years. I pray for the removal to commence with special favor to:
-the imprisoned who have just been released, one mentioned was a teen who was born and reared in that hell hole…another, a 3 year old who toddled out when the cell door was finally opened. O my God! Help the thousands who are still alive and who have suffered so horrendously!
-the White Hats, who for years have worked tirelessly to provide aid
-the Kurds who have fought for years despite being persecuted by Erdogan
-every US military person serving in this region
-Christians who are EVER persecuted
– Druze who fight….
Father, only You know (perfectly) how to return this nation to its rightful owners. Please finish what You have begun in a way that astounds the world. I pray for You to declare a solemn vow; Your spoken word—
 faithful and true—to get it done! I believe Your words have wings; they will be accomplished;
every knee will bow down to You and every tongue in Syria will swear allegiance to You. I ask this and so much more in the Name of Jesus Christ who said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” Amen

Speaking to the nation this afternoon, President Joe Biden announced: “At long last, the Assad regime has fallen. This regime brutalized and tortured and killed literally hundreds of thousands of innocent Syrians.” He called the fall of Assad’s regime a “fundamental act of justice” and “a moment of historic opportunity for the long-suffering people of Syria to build a better future for their proud country.”
But it is also “a moment of risk and uncertainty,” the president said. He noted that the U.S. is “mindful” of the security of Americans in Syria, including freelance journalist Austin Tice, who was kidnapped in 2012 and imprisoned by Assad’s regime. “[W]e believe he is alive,” Biden told reporters. “We think we can get him back, but we have no direct evidence of that yet.”
Biden noted that Syria’s main backers, Iran, Hezbollah, and Russia, could not defend “this abhorrent regime in Syria” because they “are far weaker today than when I took office.” He continued: “This is a direct result of the blows that Ukraine [and] Israel” have landed on them “with the unflagging support of the United States.”
In contrast to Biden’s comments, President-elect Donald Trump’s social media accounts took Russia’s side in the Syrian events. Noting that the insurgents looked as if they would throw Assad out, Trump’s account said that “Russia, because they are so tied up in Ukraine, and with the loss there of over 600,000 soldiers, seems incapable of stopping this literal march through Syria, a country they have protected for years.” The account blamed former president Barack Obama for the crisis of 2011 and said that Russia had stepped in then to stop the chaos. The Trump account suggested that Assad’s defeat might be “the best thing that can happen to” Russia, because “[t]here was never much of a benefit in Syria for Russia, other than to make Obama look really stupid.”
“In any event,” the account continued, “Syria is a mess, but is not our friend, & THE UNITED STATES SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT. LET IT PLAY OUT. DO NOT GET INVOLVED!”
In contrast to Trump’s focus on Russia, journalist Anne Applebaum, a scholar of autocracy, took a much broader view of the meaning of Assad’s fall. In dictatorships, she wrote in The Atlantic, “cold, deliberate, well-planned cruelty” like Assad’s “is meant to inspire hopelessness. Ludicrous lies and cynical propaganda campaigns are meant to create apathy and nihilism.” Random arrests create destabilizing waves of refugees that leave those who remain in despair.
Authoritarian regimes seek “to rob people of any ability to plan for a different future, to convince people that their dictatorships are eternal. ‘Our leader forever’” she points out, was the slogan of the Assad dynasty. But soldiers and police officers have relatives who suffer under the regime, and their loyalty is not assured, as Assad has now learned.

As bad as Assad was, I think this group will be much worse especially for women, Kurds and religious minorities. They are backed by Turkey as I understand it. Is this one of the last steps to the battle of Gog and Magog? We should evacuate our military and citizens ASAP.
