This year’s Democratic Convention arrives in the midst of an unprecedented nomination process since President Biden dropped out of the race in late July. Now with a VP pick and a proper campaign, Harris is preparing to take her campaign to the next level this week at the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

What can intercessors expect from this year’s DNC? The full itinerary for the event can be found online. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday seem to be dominated by caucus and council meetings. For example, Wednesday will feature a black caucus meeting, a Hispanic caucus meeting, an LGBTQ+ caucus meeting, and an ethnic council meeting, just to name a few.

Other events are designed to educate and train attendees. For example, “What’s at Stake for Reproductive Freedom,” hosted by the Harris campaign and Planned Parenthood, aims to teach attendees how to talk to voters about abortion, while “Fighting Censorship and Building the Best Schools for Our Kids” promises to be a “conversation about how communities are mobilizing . . . to disrupt extremism and build the best schools and educations experiences for our kids.” This all makes sense considering that one of the themes is supposedly “A Bold Vision for America’s Future.”

Arguably more interesting than the convention itself is what is happening outside of the convention. Planned Parenthood has set up a mobile clinic to offer attendees free abortions and vasectomies. The New York Post reported over the weekend that there was already a waiting list for these procedures. Continuing the focus on abortion and “reproductive rights,” some activists have also set up a massive inflatable IUD at the event, and some attendees have even reportedly dressed as abortion pills.

In the midst of this activism, the city of Chicago is on high alert. Police presence has been increased in the city, and many businesses have boarded up their doors and windows in anticipation of unruly protests. In fact, some protestors were arrested before the event had even started.

As chaos, activism, and leftist ideology captures Chicago, we pray for peace and for God’s will to be done.
