On a recent shopping trip, I found myself inside a novelty store called Five Below which specifically markets to tweens and teens. I had been there before, looking for inexpensive gifts for my nieces. Each time I perused the merchandise, however, my spirit felt uneasy. While the décor and staff were upbeat and lively, there was something very troubling lurking among the sea of trendy nick knacks and style hacks targeted for today’s youth.

I didn’t need anything on this particular occasion, but felt compelled to browse through the book section. Immediately my gaze stopped upon an uncanny array of titles that were displayed in the center of an aisle. Here’s just a small sample of what I found: The Unofficial Harry Potter Spell Book, The Egyptian Book of the Dead, The Encyclopedia of the Paranormal, The Seven Healing Chakras, Buddhism 101, Healing Crystals, The Book of Astrology, and The Book of Wizard’s Magic. Other titles I’d encountered during previous visits were How to Be a Psychic, What’s My Aura, The Power of Numbers, Crystal Pairings, The Circle of Fire–A Toltec Wisdom Guide (Inspiration and Guided Meditations), House Magic, Moon Magic, Tap Into Your Power, and the Four Agreements Wisdom Book.
Sadly, not only did I find many occult (New Age) books in the store, I discovered “healing crystals,” incense, zodiac stones, manifestation coloring books, “angel number” keychains/jewelry, Ouija Board themed candy and a plethora of New Age inspired T-shirts, gifts and room décor.
Five Below is touted as “the ultimate kid’s brand” and boasts of over 1,500 stores across the United States. The founders insist they wanted to “create a store where kids that age (tweens/teens) could go and spend their allowance on stuff they might want — a place that felt a little more grown-up than a toy store.”
Youth are Being Targeted by the Occult
The above statement was sobering, considering the amount of New Age ideas being skillfully marketed through multiple product lines. While Five Below advertises itself as a store for both boys and girls, it’s especially popular with pre-teen girls who are developing their sense of identity. From what I could see, many of the items being sold in the store were pushing kids into one direction–the occult. Furthermore, these items were cheap enough for almost any teen to buy, and marketed as tools to stay positive, strong and enlightened.
Witches for Kamala Harris
After leaving the store I felt the need to pray. “Dear Lord, what should we do? The occult is infiltrating the lives of our youth, especially the minds of our precious girls.” At that moment the Holy Spirit impressed something upon me. It was the phrase, “Witches for Kamala Harris.” At first, I wondered if it was a random thought, but after I prayed about it, I realized there must be some sort of connection between what I observed at Five Below and the phrase.
I decided to do some research on the internet. I typed “Witches for Kamala” into the search engine. One of the first websites I found was an openly occult online store called The Spirit Den. Its homepage contains a “shop the magick” tab which leads customers to products such as ritual and altar tools, witch bells, altar and tarot cloths, as well as T-shirts and holographic stickers that say, “Witches for Kamala.” One shirt labeled, “Witches for Kamala Pentacle T-Shirt” is described this way: “Embrace the boldness and risk-taking spirit of Kamala Harris…This shirt is perfect for any witch who stands with Kamala’s message of equality and justice. Join the movement and make a statement for change.” Many of the other items on the website were described as tools for spiritual growth which could help users “align with their highest potential.”
Feeling disturbed, I left this website immediately and proceeded to check another one that had popped up during my search.
This time it was the website of a self-proclaimed witch named Phyllis Curott. Her about page claims she is a “spiritual pioneer,” and is “one of America’s first public witches, teachers and advocates.” As the “most widely published witch/wiccan priestess in the world,” she’s spent more than 49 years “helping witchcraft become the fastest-growing spirituality in America, and expanding its reach across the globe.”
The shopping tab on Curott’s site brought me to a page where customers could purchase shirts, mugs, bumper stickers, pins, hats and bags that said, “Witches for Kamala,” as well as “Goddess Bless America.” Other items being sold were classes on how to perform divination using tarot cards, as well as “Spellcrafting for Living Well.”
One particular class highlighted on the site was called, “Awaken the Witch Within.” The course description explains that Wiccan priestess Phyllis Curott will help students “unleash the magic within you” so you are able to “manifest a life of balance, harmony and fulfillment…in celebration with the natural world.” In all, this class offers eight video lessons that give “step-by-step instruction on witchcraft practices,” as well as instructions on “modern-day empowerment and healing.” The big idea takeaway is that “there’s a witch in everyone.”
Five Below, Witches and Kamala
After browsing these witchcraft promoting websites, I clearly understood how the products being sold in Five Below, and the phrase “Witches for Kamala” were connected. It was very apparent in both cases that girls and women were the targeted audience. The New Age books and products in Five Below, as well as the witchcraft websites, were selling their versions of empowerment, balance, harmony, healing and self-love.
What Do Witches Believe?
It’s important to understand that witches (which can also include those who refer to themselves as “Wiccans,” “Pagans” or Druids”) define themselves as “modern women” who are “catalysts for change.” They believe they can impact the world through rebellious acts, spells and rituals. Bodily autonomy is sacred, as they work to be “in balance” with nature, the cycles of the moon/earth, and ancient spirits. Above all, their paths are not defined by a particular truth. Instead, they find their own truth and destiny by using tarot cards, crystals, astrology, ancient pagan writings, Ouija boards, nature and the paranormal. These tools of divination direct their paths and embolden them along the way.
The occult/New Age books and products marketed to young girls in stores such as Five Below teach these same principles. They encourage them to chart their own course using an occult GPS that deceptively teaches the concept of “mindfulness.” Impersonal forces such as nature, earth cycles, and “energy” are touted as guide stones, but these “forces” do not ask them to recognize or repent from sin. Instead, their minds are filled with mantras like “girl power,” “you are the change,” and “live your truth.” Over time, young girls become young women who believe there are no defined moral boundaries when it comes to their bodies, or the bodies of those around them. Their identity is found through the deceptive world of the occult.
The Lies of Reproductive Empowerment
As these ideas of “bodily empowerment” are seeded into the minds of young girls, we see a large movement of voting age women who are attracted to the political agenda of Kamala Harris. Her platform hinges on the lie that women are strengthened and liberated through abortion, or what she terms “reproductive rights.” Harris also removes all boundaries when it comes to the LGBTQ/Trans agenda. Her adamant support for gender transition surgeries is seen as “progressive,” “mindful,” “liberating” and “just.”
Rules for morality in the occult world are seen as slavery. Thus, when Kamala Harris says she wants to restore “reproductive freedom,” by allowing the killing of the unborn, she’s falling in line with this thinking.
Professional witch Phyllis Curott has said, “If ever there was a time for Witchcraft, this is it. Not just in terms of casting spells, but in terms of sacred activism. There are many reasons why there are so many witches now. It’s the first spirituality in the Western world to honor the sacred holy wisdom of women and LGBTQIA people. It’s a spirituality that honors our capacity to see the sacred. We’re summoned forth to embody what we know to be true.”
The popular online marketplace Etsy sells yard signs which promote the reproductive “rights” that Kamala Harris endorses. One sign’s slogan reads, “Vote Like Your Daughter’s Rights Depend On It–Kamala Harris 2024.” At the time when I did the search, this particular sign was labeled a “bestseller,” that was “in demand.” Above the price were the words, “41 people bought this sign in the last 24 hours.”
Another similar yard sign for sale said, “Vote Like Your Rights Depend on It,” but the letters of the word VOTE were made into illustrations that depicted a female reproductive system, an LGBTQ rainbow, “banned” books, and a fist with a heart inside.
“Reproductive rights,” as well as being able to choose one’s own sex/gender, is important to witches because they believe they are in control of their own destiny. In their eyes, all women are goddesses, so they can receive and use this power supernaturally.
Interestingly enough, if one browses through some of the New Age books marketed to teens and tweens, these same ideas of charting your own course, manifesting your highest potential, and “having the power (magic) within you,” are a repetitive theme. Even if some of these New Age books and products are not specifically labeled as witchcraft, they’re instilling the same principles.
Intercessors, our youth are being influenced from every angle. Whether it’s movies, social media, or books/products marketed to children, there’s a wide, open door to the occult. Through prayer and fasting we must shut this door.
Key Prayers to Lock out Occult Influences
Pray that God would grant parents discernment as they monitor what their children are reading, watching and purchasing. Ask for God to reveal any hidden sources of occult information.
Pray that God would dismantle the plans of witches who seek to gain influence over our youth, as well as public policy. Pray that God would cast down any incantations or spells, and that He would infiltrate the hearts of the lost with the saving gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pray that God would call forth Godly business owners, social media influencers, authors, actors, journalists, musicians, artists, designers, athletes, coaches and teachers to become leaders, trendsetters, inspirers and motivators for our youth instead of the voices of those who embrace the occult.
Pray that children, especially young girls, would understand that their identity is in Jesus Christ. Pray that a spirit of repentance would rest upon our youth so they would renounce any ties to the occult.
Pray that God would embolden young women to rise up against the occult-driven lies of the reproductive “empowerment” movement. Increase the number of God-fearing women, and lift up their voices in every town, city and state.
Lord Jesus, tear down the strongholds of the occult that have surrounded our youth. Help them see that You are the only one who can guide their destiny.

I’m deeply concerned regarding the curriculum that’s being used in schools that involve the occult. Instead of teaching straight, simple math, the kids are watching programs on their ipads to learn math that involve wizards, spells and ungodly power sources to advance to new levels when they give correct answers. I’m not against making learning fun, but not at the expense of engaging our children in practices that God forbids

I literally had the same experience in a Five Below just the other day.
I went in to buy a volleyball but was stunned at all the products promoting divination. Yes, it was so obvious and it was in everything from the candy to the calendars. It was unavoidable. It was the norm. I too spent time staring at the book table in total shock!!!
So inlight of this I pray for all customers, staff, and managers who walk through the doors of Five Below to be convicted by the spirit of Wisdom and the spirit Truth to walk away with hunger in their hearts for the one true living God! May they easily find our powerful glorious God and live the rest of their days giving him the honor and glory. Praying this in Jesus name.
How sad it is that the contributor ‘does not want to be named’ for fear of ‘witchcraft curses’. There needs to be good theological teaching that pretend witches, such as you fear, are just that, play acting and presumably enjoying themselves. Conjurors and magicians are just ordinary people entertaining you with party tricks or in these cases taking you for a gullible ride.
The male word is wizard – and most men would be honoured to be called a wizard at work or home as a reflection of their ability. Ex President Trump has probably been called a wizard by his admirers.

I appreciate the exposure of the occult influences on our young girls. Praying in agreement with IFA to see this influence exposed and removed by repentance due to Truth.
Barnes and Noble in Fairbanks, Alaska has an occult section of similar books. Upon my visit there in April, I prayed the casting down of all unholiness and that a blinding shield of truth be set before those bookshelves so that people would pass by them and not notice them at all. May evil fall to the ground an dburn, in jesus’s name.
Father God, I stand with those who are also seeing the evil published and connecting online for such things as Witches for Kamala. There is no other name by which anything is glorified. You are our rock. You are the bread of life. As you have said I am a divine curator of the books in heaven, and having seen the evil and hateful words in a pit, and you, Lord Jesus, saying that those things cannot exist in heaven, I call for on earth as it is in heaven. By the power of the blood of Jesus and by our authority as we are seated in heavenly places with Christ, I pray for the casting down of evil strongholds upon our children, our women, our people. May scales fall from the eyes of those who are blind. As Paul said that something fell from his eyes like scales, I know the serpent’s scales are trying to blind and mesmerize. May every curse, spill, hex, vex, incantation, and evil casting of ill and evil be exposed and may God’s people arise and take back what the enemy has been trying to steal, kill, and destroy. Lord, Our precious children are being surrounded by so many evil influences today. I pray that they would be covered by the blood of Jesus for protection and that parents would be alert to the traps that can lure young, impressionable minds into something dangerous and away from God. Praying that you would direct our children away from the occult and that you would make businesses targeting our children for evil to fail and close.

BOOKS A MILLION is another store that is overly stocked with the occult and witchcraft books in the youth sections especially. I accompanied my granddaughter there to get a book and did not know how this stuff was so much in demand. Prayer is essential!!

I strongly disagree. Children are impressionable and can easily be lead. There are many ways in this world in which satan works to pull our children away from God and into practices that can be harmful to them. It’s mandatory, especially today that you watch what your children are exposed to. The precious life of your child should be your top priority as a parent. They look to you for guidance and direction and if you’re not there, that’s when they can be lured into dangerous influences.

Somehow the schools, all schools have to be notified about all this, they are the ones in the children’s lives outside the home that have so much power over a captive audience especially since the those ‘Potter’ films have been made so important by the media everywhere! You can see by their attendance that parents weren’t too informed about them, that the curses in them were real! “Bednobs and Broomsticks” were the first partially animated films that gave real demon names to the spirits back in the sixties! So this is not knew but, so much has been added and now made them feel part of an important group of cheerleaders for Kamala H.
If parents would train up their children as the Holy Scriptures tell us to rather than depending on the government and social media we would have the confidence to know that our children know the evil and dangerous of devil.

The Church isn’t as strategic as the witches are. We have our church services at church. But what about opening coffee shops ?

Thank you for posting this, as we, the Church, need to wake up. Another huge problem is the deception of yoga, which is rooted in Hinduism, and now it is everywhere and in our schools! All the poses worship other “gods”(demons). There is no such thing as Christian yoga, either. You cannot do worship poses to other “gods” and also say Scripture…it’s like drawing Satanic symbols and quoting Scripture. Still not convinced? Thank you for this confirmation! I heard this same truth from a Hindu man who told me it is impossible not to invoke Hindu gods by the position and order of the bodily positions taken. I brought these facts up to the women’s ministry of our otherwise excellent Christ-centered church and the leadership was just offended and defended yoga as “harmless exercises”!

I totally agree with your discernment regarding Five Below. I’ve walked in and out of that store a few times and not only do I sense the occult, I believe many of their products most likely are toxic regarding chemicals, inferior material, residue, etc. The atmosphere in Five Below just seems polluting to the spirit and the soul.

We live just one block from a Five Below and I never realized what they sell and promote in them! Thank you for letting me know about this chain–I come into agreement with all these prayers that these stores not prosper nor successfully deceive anyone, that they change management and sell harmless items instead or just go out of business.

A quick browse through the store will leave you with out any doubt if you have a spiritually discerning spirit to know what you are seeing and what subtle occult nuances are being promoted. Mindfulness is a subtle lead in (formed out of Buddhism) to this practice. Mindfulness leads to mind emptying, mindlessness–not divine and fruitful meditation on the Lord and His truth and power. The spiritual battle is intensifying and our nation is in the cross-hairs of the battle. Stand firm with our armor clothed about us and our families & cry out to the Lord for protection and deliverance from the subtle ways of the occult. Take note of many advertisers now using Tarot cards (or cards fashioned to look like them) to lure customers into buying their services. Jesus reminded us to be wise as serpents, yet harmless as dove & we must walk in the power of our Heavenly Dove, the Holy Spirit to protect and keep us spiritually alert and aware that our prayers might be fruitful and targeted to those spiritual dimensions we are engaging. Lord Jesus, grant us all manner of spiritual wisdom and insight into the subtle battles that are making inroads into our daily lives. Protect and direct our hearts and minds in the power of Your Holy Spirit to be discerning spiritually and wise in our prayers into these forces that seek to harm us and our families and to create chaos in the general atmosphere of our nation. This was a very good article to bring awareness of the occult in our culture targeting young girls. But America has long been involved in New Age practices as someone who is up in years and has seen this a long time going on around us. I experienced it myself as a child playing innocently with a Quiji Board, reading horoscopes and being asked what sign I was born under, etc., etc, etc. The secret societies that a lot of our leaders have been involved in. Maybe it appears that it is getting braver and more in our faces. But the sad truth is that we have had it around for a very long time. Yes! We need to repent of this wherever it has crept into our own lives and have courage to speak to others about this deception. So thankful that Jesus is the One who shows us truth in all matters that seem to be out of control. Lord Jesus, show your people their identity in You, our all! And protect our children.

I’ve seen this at my workplace. However, the person I’m speaking of is a 50-year-old woman! Listening to her was like being her private psychiatrist. She worked as a receptionist at our law firm. I relieved her everyday for breaks and her lunch hour. She would keep me captive for several minutes while she rambled on about her excessive drinking and her fascination with scary movies, heavy metal bands, and witchcraft. She was a proud Democrat and despised Ronald Reagan. She was the epitomy of a weirdo!

I’m praying. Sad to hear how young people are being drawn away from God.
Prayer is essential for our youth. However, God has given us, Christians, spiritual weapons for this spiritual.warfare. We are in a spiritual battle of evil spirits vs good spirits. This battle has been warring since Adam and Eve. We are not fighting flesh, carnality, not even people, but the spirits that control people!
Therefore, we deal with the spiritual realm. (Ephesians 6:11-18)
(Matthew 18:18) We bind the strongman, evil spirits, in the name of Jesus, (the name Jesus, is above every name, that is named.) Then, after binding in that name, Jesus, we break every evil force working in the wicked people, causing the people to be wicked.
Then, afterwards they are clean of evil spirits, ask the Holy Spirit to draw the person or people to be drawn into Him, for salvation!!
There are even false Christs. It is better to identify Jesus as “Jesus Christ” or “Jesus of Nazareth” or “Jesus who came in the flesh.” The devil is a legalist and sometimes takes ground not intended for him if we aren’t specific. I once ministered with a prayer team which God used to deliver a woman from demons. She would stay fine and in her right mind until she listened to a praise song (which was about Jesus but did not use His name) which kept referring only to “lord.” The devil apparently took the name “lord” to mean himself and whenever she listened to that song, her eyes would roll back in her head and she’d let (invite) the demons in again. She was finally and gloriously delivered once and for all by God Himself.

I am sickened at the thought that precious children in my life could be influenced by the evil presented to them as fun, intriguing, life-building, harmless. We need to specifically pray for Taylor Swift to repent and come to salvation. She has an enormous influence over our young girls and women. Her last tour actually featured a witches gathering. It “just so happened” that I clicked on the “Amen” on 33, the earthly age of our Savior when He went to the Cross to bear our sin and shame and pay the ultimate price so that we could by grace come into saving knowledge of Him. About 54 years ago, the Lord rescued and delivered me from involvement in study of the occult (specifically in doing astrological charts for friends, reading palms and studying about reincarnation via the Edgar Cayce writings on the subject) . I can see now how it was a process that the Lord used in my life as a result of prayers by some very discerning Christian loved ones in my family. So what seemed like an “instantaneous” revelation was quite wondrously divinely orchestrated. I’m now 81 years of age and by His mercy and grace, a faithful (and very grateful) follower of Yeshua. I can attest to the fact that our most potent weapon is prayer, then if we’re in a position to have influence directly on these young people’s lives, to see that they are exposed to the gospel. Interestingly, it was a Bible Study of the Book of Daniel in relation to the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ that fueled my spiritual understanding and growth in my early Christian life, within the first two years after my salvation experience.
