There is a strategy in the military going back even to the days of the Old Testament–setting a rear guard. The rear guard is critical to the protection of the mission. While the forward action is being activated, a strategic positioning of troops to watch the vulnerable back of the unit is needed to fend off an ambush or attack from the unprotected back.   Scripture even talks of setting a rear guard multiple times throughout the Old Testament.

There is an application to that concept spiritually. Intercessors are busy praying for the nation, but who is covering us as we are praying for others?

Isaiah 58:8 tells us of how the glory of the Lord is our rear guard.  But we can also provide that prayer covering for one another–praying protection over the vulnerabilities we have as we are focused on praying for what is in front of us.

Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
    and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness^[a] will go before you,
    and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
⁹ Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
    you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.

Nearly 300 personal prayer requests from IFA intercessors were shared in response to a recent article entitled Do You Need A Miracle?  It was an outpouring of needs from faithful intercessors from within the IFA community.
