Stores Closed on Resurrection Sunday

In reverence for Resurrection Sunday, several major U.S. store chains have chosen to honor the holiday, allowing their employees to spend the day in worship and fellowship with family and friends.

TJX, parent company of retail chains TJ MaxxMarshallsHomeGoods, and HomeSense, has confirmed that all its stores will be closed. This decision impacts shoppers at over 1,300 TJ Maxx stores and some 1,200 Marshalls stores across the country.

Warehouse chains Costco and Sam’s Club will also be observing the holiday, affecting customers of the 876 Costco stores and nearly 600 Sam’s Club locations.

Target announced that it will close over 1,900 of its U.S. stores. Similarly, Publix Super Markets, which has more than 1,400 stores, will also be closed.

Other chains observing the holy day include Macy’s department stores (515 locations) and H-E-B outlets.

In recent years, hardware store chain Lowe’s has also chosen to close its doors, a decision made to show appreciation for its frontline associates’ continued dedication to serving customers.

Stores Open on Resurrection Sunday

Several other stores will remain open.

Walmart, a major competitor of Target, will open at its regular hours, providing shoppers with a convenient option for any last-minute holiday purchases.

Home Depot, Lowe’s biggest competitor, will also open its doors for customers.

Other chains that will be open on Resurrection Sunday include Dollar GeneralKrogerMeijer, and Safeway.

Whole Foods Market stores will be open until 6 p.m.

Customers across the country will still be able to pick up prescriptions from CVSWalgreens, and Rite-Aid drugstores on the upcoming holiday.

I work at Lowe’s part-time. The stores are closed Easter Sunday. Lowe’s has been doing this since 2020

We can all vote with our dollars by choosing not to shop and buy on Resurrection day unless it is a critical emergency. Perhaps some companies will recognize the drop in revenue and choose to close in the future.

I am thankful that stores decided to close it’s doors on Resurrection Sunday. However, I want you to be aware that many companies (including the company my husband works for) is observing March 31 not as Easter or Resurrection Day. They are actually observing ‘tr@nsgender day” on the calendar which is ridiculous of course!
Good Friday was not recognized even on the work calendar as it was not considered a “federal holiday” so my husband chose to use a floating holiday to get off today. Please pray about this. Pray for my husband that he will stand for truth and lead his family in the truth. Thank God our Lord is not surprised by any of this and He has the final say.
