Some days it seems like we are living in a world gone mad. With an unjust government, election dishonesty, and the travesty of open borders, we can’t help but shake our heads in disbelief. If that isn’t enough, we are also bombarded with news of a weaponized IRS, our children’s easy access to fentanyl and mass shootings across our nation. These are indeed unprecedented times in our nation. Many are asking, “Where is God? When is He going to show up?”

These thoughts and more ran through my mind one night while preparing for bed. That night, the Lord gave me a dream…

It was probably one of the most ordinary, yet profound, dreams I have ever had. Though uneventful, it seemed to last all night. Nothing unusual happened in the dream. It had no intense revelation. It wasn’t an encounter with God. It was just a dream of everyday, ordinary events like a Day in the Life of Kim kind of dream.

Throughout the dream I performed normal daily tasks, like laundry, house cleaning, and baking a pie. At one point I twirled a finger through my hair, something I do when I am reading intensely. While it was indeed ordinary, I could clearly feel my emotional state as I performed each of the activities.

After I awoke, I pondered the dream which was still vivid in my mind. What was the purpose?  It made no sense, yet I knew this was a dream from God. In time, I knew He would give me understanding.

As I went about my day, I realized that without forethought, I was doing some of the exact same things as in my dream. Even the feelings were the same as in my dream. At first, I didn’t pay much attention to it. However, as the day continued, I found this strange occurrence of my actions mimicking the dream happening more and more.

Finally, as I was sitting at my desk studying, I did a common gesture with my hair which I had also done in the dream. I recognized it felt exactly, and I do mean exactly, as it did the night before in the dream. At that moment, it was as if I was catapulted back into my dream, back into time. I realized that God was indeed speaking to me through this dream along with the events that had taken place during the day. Knowing He was nudging me, I stopped, laid down my pen and asked, “Okay God, what are You speaking to me concerning this dream?”

He quickly responded, “People want to know where I am in all this. I am here. But I am also already there, in all your tomorrow’s, I am already there.”

That dream quickly became one of my favorite dreams as well as a timely reminder of His faithfulness. Because He is already there.

Before we stepped into the chaos of 2020, God was already there. Before the injustices of the election occurred, God was already present. None of this has taken Him by surprise. Even God’s name, Jehovah Shammah, means the Lord is there. God is there.

Our God is already in our tomorrow.

His plan, His purpose for His people is written in His Word. We are told in Jeremiah 29:11 that Jehovah-Shammah says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

THE LORD IS THERE!! His plans are already set in place.

While we do not know exactly what is to come—He does. While we may be unable to control the future events of our life, we know the one who can. Jehovah-Shammah will walk with us into whatever tomorrow holds.

And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed (Deut. 31:8).

He goes before us. He is already there. In your tomorrow, in my tomorrow – our job is to trust Him. What comfort that brings!

Isaiah 45:2-3 says, “I will go before you and make the rough places smooth; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars. “I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden wealth of secret places, so that you may know that it is I, The LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name….”

We need not fear or tremble for He has gone ahead of us to make the rough places smooth. To shatter any door that would try to stop our advancement. He has gone before us to secure our future. That is our God!

While we may not know what tomorrow holds, this one thing we can be assured of; He is already there. Jehovah Shammah is there. That gives me great peace. How about you?
