I Prayed have prayed
Dear God, help us to remember that you never leave us – even when you are silent, you are working all things for our good. We put our trust in you Lord. Amen.
Reading Time: 4 minutes

One morning, as the sun began to peek through the windows, I casually glanced at my calendar. The date on the calendar reminded me that the next presidential election was just days away. It’s hard to forget with all the constant coverage on the local news stations.

I began to think about the upcoming election and how it differed from the last presidential election season. I noted one huge difference.

In 2020, there was a significant emphasis on prophetic messages and divine revelations regarding the upcoming election. Many individuals claiming to have received insights from God were vocal in sharing their predictions. However, this year’s election has unfolded in a notably different manner. It is striking that there seems to be a lack of prophetic voices making predictions about the election’s outcome.

It seems many are silent.

I recall another time in biblical history when there was silence. This silence lasted for 400 years.

The “400 Years of Silence” is the term theologians use to describe the period between the Book of Malachi and the beginning of the New Testament and its Gospels. During this time, there was a lack of prophetic words from the Lord. Before that period, God had communicated with His people in various ways, such as walking with Adam in the Garden of Eden and speaking directly to Abraham. He also communicated with Moses through a burning bush. However, historical records indicate that He did not speak for 400 years.

If you study this time, you will learn something insightful. Just because God was not speaking did not mean He had abandoned His people. No, quite the opposite. During that time, God was setting the stage for the redemption He had already promised. As the Bible declares, He was working all things for our good (Romans 8:28).

Between the final words of the Book of Malachi and the opening words of the New Testament, circumstances were being created for the arrival of our Savior, Jesus Christ, on earth. During this period, God was actively at work, orchestrating events to bring about the fulfillment of His divine plan for His people.

It was during this period of silence that the Pax Romana took place. It was roughly a 200-year-long period of Roman history, identified as a golden age of increased and sustained Roman imperialism, relative peace and order, prosperous stability, and regional expansion. A time of relative peace.

Also, during that time, roadways were put in place, and a reliable mail system was built, setting the stage for those who would become apostolic leaders to travel and send letters to those longing to hear the gospel. In addition, synagogues were being established all over, becoming the future ground for Christian gatherings.

All these things were taking place while God was seemingly silent.

Then, abruptly, the years of silence ended. He was picking up right where Malachi left off.

They ended with Zacharias, a faithful priest, and a visit from the angel Gabriel. “Your prayer is heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son . . . He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to prepare a people for the Lord” (Luke 1:13-17).

During this period, when God seemed distant, He was working out His plan. Understanding what occurred during those 400 years may help us comprehend other times when it seems God is silent and aloof.

Have you ever experienced times in your life when it felt as if God were silent, elusive, and nowhere to be found? Was it at a time in your life when you needed to hear His voice the most? I know I have.

God will never leave us nor forsake us. (Deut 31:6)

This promise from God is a comforting truth that we can hold onto. He has assured us that He will always be by our side, never abandoning us. His faithfulness and reliability are unwavering, and His word can always be trusted. Even during moments when it seems like His presence is elusive, we can take solace in knowing that He is actively shaping every circumstance for our benefit.

What is our role, then? It’s to keep seeking God and His word, to keep growing spiritually, to persist, and to move forward in faith. Trust that He is a God of His word.

The 400 years of silence in biblical history, during which God did not communicate directly with His people, serves as a powerful reminder of God’s constant presence and activity, even in times when it may seem like He is distant. Despite the silence, God’s ultimate plan unfolded when He broke His silence, and the Word became flesh. This period of silence serves as a hopeful reminder that even when we feel like our prayers are unanswered and declarations seem unheard, there is a divine timing for everything. When God speaks again, the manifestation of our prayers and declarations over our lives, families, and nations will become evident. May we patiently wait for His timing and trust that His word will come to pass.

I appreciate your encouragement. I hope my comment encourages you: I have seen many prophets speaking about the election. One noticeable difference to me is the emphasis on declaring the word of the Lord and His putting Him in remembrance of His mercy and covenant. The difference I see is humility , glory to God. The past 4 yrs has humbled us before Him, but His Spirit has empowered us in Him to stand on His Word and His Promises because He is The Most High God.

You must not be on Rumble! There are many prophets speaking loudly on Rumble, where they won’t be silenced.
Thank you Father that you still talk through your prophets today!! They are saying we should pray, and vote, and keep our eyes on God, not a man. God still intervenes in the affairs of humanity, and uses men he has appointed and anointed for this time, but only He will save us from the bandage we have been under for a very long time! Praise you Father!!
We are in the days of Haman, where the evil they intend for us will be turned back on them. We are headed for a greater exodus than Israel coming out of Egypt, but just like the Israelites, the Pharoahs of today will make our lives harder for a time, before it gets oh SO much better! Then the world will know that OUR GOD REIGNS!! And the knowledge of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the seas!!! Praise you Jesus!!

Prophets silent now? Is that good? Who is Donald Trump?

I’m no prophet but the sense I have had for these past four years is that many prophecies–including some by IFA staff writers–which were not fulfilled then were just not fulfilled YET. I BELIEVE THEY MAY BE FULFILLED A FEW DAYS FROM NOW! At that time, we had not yet fully met the conditions of 2 Chronicles 7:14, had not repented deeply enough, not recognized as wicked and turned from some of our wicked ways, had not sought Him desperately. I pray we have met those conditions now–and will continue to humble ourselves, as He has mercy on us and begins to heal our land.

I remember how some of the prophets were treated after the 2020 election. The prophets who stepped out and said president Trump would win were not wrong. Trump did win, but the election was STOLEN from him by the Democrats.
I don’t blame them for not speaking out.

Too late – there already is cheating. Burning of ballots, fraudulent ballots, ballots dumped into the side of the road by a mailman, non-citizens voting, and in judges allowing it. The Marxists don’t follow the rules – they only want others to follow the rules they have made. Lord, send your waring angels to stand guard and prevent all that is not of Your be thwarted.

      But God!!
He allowed it once, so His people would wake up, stand up, and DO SOMETHING!! Now He is moving His strong right hand, which has not waxed short!! But just as in the days of the exodus of Israel out of Egypt, we are to look to Him and keep our faith in Him, as it will look worse (as in no straw!) Fort a short time, before it gets better!! If they steal this one again, it will NOT stand for long!

You claim Kamalag Harris is a “born-again sister in Christ”. Is that why she endorses abortion in the third trimester when “God knew us in the womb”? Is that why she believes that children who are confused about their gender be allowed to undergo drug therapy and surgeries; and, if the parents refuse to agree to it, the children are taken away from them? Remember, God created us “male and female”. He does not make mistakes.

I most definitely have to disagree with your statement about Ms. Harris. Her actions certainly show a different side of her.

JoAnne, just to clarify – the author of this article, Kim, didn’t say VP Harris is a “born-again sister in Christ”. I presume your comment should have been a reply to Joseph Diop below.

By their fruits you will know them!! What she claims to be and what she is are vastly different, that is SO obvious to anyone with spiritual discernment. She told someone who shouted “Jesus is King” that they were at the wrong rally!! Would a born again sister in Christ say that on national television, and laugh about it???

I tuned into this email, wanting to add my prayers to other on IFS praying about the elections. I found something this isi for ME! I am in a time of God’s silence and my heart has been crying out after HIm. I know He has more ministry for me ( I am a retired missionary) even in this retirement village I am in. I am ministering to some of the nurses and residents, but I believe I am to teach the Word again, but I am waiting for a call from the Christian leaders here. I am trying to surrender whatever I may still be holding on to, but don’t know what it is. I am seeking HIs face and I felt that I needed to spend more time praying for our elections and all things surrounding them; but I have not prayer on IFA. Sometimes I can’t get in. Thank you so much for what iyou are doing!

Lillian, I encourage you to just be willing to sit down with 1 – ? people and discuss God’s Word with them. I believe if you ask the Lord to bring them to you, He will. You don’t need a platform provided by anyone other than Holy Spirit.

What the Bible ACTUALLY says about voting:

14 When thou art come unto the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king (chief executive) over me, like as all the nations that are about me; 15 Thou shalt in indeed set him king over thee, whom the Lord thy GOD SHALL CHOOSE: ONE FROM AMONG THY BRETHREN SHALT THOU SET KING OVER THEE. THOU MAYEST NOT SET A STRANGER OVER THEE, WHICH IS NOT THY BROTHER. Deut 17:14-15, parenthesis mine

Friends, do not be so blinded by matters of political partisanship that you fail to distinguish spiritual character from party platforms. Kamala Harris is a born-again sister in Christ, and a member in good standing in her church. Donald Trump, on the other hand, is simply a renegade, wicked, and manifest child of Satan, with ALL the character traits and works to prove it. God commanded in Deuteronomy 17 not to elect such to rule over God’s people — period. Therefore, you have only two acceptable choices; either vote for Kamala Harris, or abstain from voting for president at all this year. All political preference otherwise is to be deferred in obedience to God.

It is no sin to abstain from voting, but it is a sin to vote for an openly wicked and ungodly person, like Donald Trump. Amen.

    Mary Beth
    October 31, 2024

I strongly disagree! Likening a republic like the USA to a theocracy like Israel at that point in history creates major confusion, and misapplies Scripture. And VP Harris being a member of an institutional church has nothing to do with whether she is a faith-filled born-again believer, saved and sanctified by the atoning blood of Yeshua. I don’t presume to judge whether either candidate is saved (God knows!), but in judging their fruit (past policies) and their stated objectives as outlined in the platforms, it is easy to judge what is wicked and ungodly because it does not align with God’s Holy Word and His character. It is not what you claim. And to abstain is in reality a vote – it is just a cowardly way to try to absolve you from the guilt of not taking your civic responsibility to vote in accordance with God’s will.

Joseph, I don’t know where you ever heard, or how you can even believe, that Harris is “born-again sister in Christ, when she believes in an encourages the destruction of babies right up to the time of birth. She had a truck parked at the DNC where abortions & vasectomies were done. She is anti-Catholic, but has nothing good to say about any denomination that worships Christ. She tells many lies consistently. When with Biden she has said “no more fracking”, then when in PA, she said fracking was good. She speaks out of both sides of her mouth – like the spirit of Leviathan, twisting things she has said one way, into another way to fit the group she is trying to win over. She says she is part black – but she is not. Upon studies of her ancestors, there is no black members. It would behoove you to do a thorough research of her and her beliefs. Donald Trump was raised in the Congregational church. His aunts had a prayer group in their place of residence. His father, like him, had a very soft heart for others and helped people. Sorry, I hate to burst your bubble, but it’s best you find out now before you vote for Kamala, who is a Marxists. You know, Karl Marx, a.k.a. communist. Her god is the government, like all Marxists. Her father is a professor that teaches Marxism. Some of those things she says is right out of the Communist Manifesto. Lord, I pray You would open eyes, ears and hearts of those seeking truth, that they would walk in Your way.

The worst thing about being deceived is that you are deceived. . Jo, you are wrong about the decernment that you are applying to these two candidates. Trump is a big personality but he loves people and loves our country. He has not been discipled and he is a babe in Christ but don’t doubt that he is a confessed Christian. Harris literally mocked the name of Jesus this past week at one of her little fake rallies. I hope you are just trying to get a reaction on this site and really so deceived.

The true prophets at times may be silent, for they are to speak when God tells them to speak. But God Himself only seems silent, is probably the way I would describe it, because I’ve found that He has never left Himself without a witness.
Psalm 19:1-4a “[For the leader. A psalm of David:] The heavens declare the glory of God, the dome of the sky speaks the work of his hands.  Every day it utters speech, every night it reveals knowledge.  Without speech, without a word, without their voices being heard, their line goes out through all the earth and their words to the end of the world.”
In this day we are blessed to have the written Word of God, and most of us have access to it in order to hear Him speak any time we desire. Even during that 400 year period, they had the written Word – the Torah, prophets, and writings.
I guess as I pondered this, I had to admit that in my own life, God’s presumed silence was never the issue. It was my deafness. My spiritual ears were stopped up by numerous blocks – whether unbelief, not wanting to hear again what He had already spoken and I had not responded to, pride and arrogance, stubbornly adhering to man’s doctrine or traditions instead of His Word, and I could go on and on. From personal experience I would contend that He is never silent, I am just not always listening and sensitive to hearing Him in the ways that He desires to speak to me. And if He does seem silent, then I can meditate on what He has already spoken to me.
I do agree that He was very active during that 400 years, and the words in that song are so true –
“Even when we don’t see it He’s working, He never stops, never stops working!!”
Thank you for that reminder!

(Applause, applause) My own heart has been much comforted by the lack of prophetic deluge that accompanied the last election. We are in a season where Farther desires each one to hear Him for themselves and where He is urging us to turn from unbelief and believe His word. When I was in Israel in 2016, I stood on Mount Gerizim – the Mount of Blessing – in a vineyard owned by Orthodox Jews and worked by Gentile believers. As we stood and prayed over Shechem – now called Nablus – the words of Amos 9:14 came up in my spirit,”Yes, I will restore the captivity of my people Israel. They were rebelled distillated cities and dwell in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine. Yes they will also make gardens and eat their fruit.” Amos had prophesied this hundreds of years before I stood there and yet God’s promise was being fulfilled down to the detail even weaving in his prophetic promises that the Gentiles would come and help! I love your article because when God is silent we can know for certain that he is working toward the restoration of all things. With Him, we can laugh the laugh of Psalm 2, assured that at the end, his son will be sitting on his holy mountain ruling over the nations. Maranatha!

If the plethora of “prophets” who misspoke so loudly four years ago are quiet now, maybe they’re simply being more cautious. There was one prophet (of whom I am aware, anyhow) who got it right in 2020, and that was Ron Cantor (USA and Israel). Perhaps there were others.

Kim nevertheless makes a more excellent point in directing us to place our trust in God more than in man.

Yes, we walk by faith and not by sight (or hearing) – standing on the promises in God’s living, eternal Word – we can hear His voice through His Word, His Holy Spirit and there’s more – “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” (Psalm 19:1-4)
In the times I feel God is being silent with me, I am then convicted to consider if I am truly listening or if I have become too busy, or too attuned to other voices I have allowed into my life? In times of silence I remember Job and what he said –
Job was wanting a face to face with God but said he had looked to the north, south, east and west and simply could not find God anywhere. BUT – then Job said this about God – “But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold.” (Job 23:10)
Job had faith – even though he had lost sight of God, Job knew and acknowledged that God hadn’t lost sight of him, but knew exactly where he was and what he was going through. I often feel like calling out with Habakkuk – “How long, O Lord, must I call for help, but You do not listen? Or cry out to You ‘Violence!’ but You do not save? Why do You make me look at injustice? Why do You tolerate wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted.” (Habakkuk 1:1-4)
Truly there is “nothing new under the sun.” Habakkuk accurately describes my feelings about what I see going on all around me today in our country and in the world. My faith and hope are in God alone. He alone is Sovereign over the affairs of men. http://www.mtothe5th.wordpress.com

The prophets aren’t silent. They just don’t have a huge platform like the self proclaimed prophets who prophesied incorrectly four years ago. And God is not release them to speak.
God is removing the false prophets, and in time he will raise the true prophets.
The message these true prophets have will not be received until the time is right.

Just like Israel cried out to the Lord during those silent years because they were being oppressed by a tyrannical government, so we have cried out to God for this last four years, for Him to redeem us and to give us grace, Even though we don’t deserve it, we have pleaded with God that He would deliver us. We l know that he will.
