Three years after January 6, people on both sides of the political aisle are still focused on that fateful day. It is no exaggeration to say that the 2020 election and the events that followed have dominated our political conversation and divided Americans ever since.

Recently, a D.C. U.S. attorney explained that the DOJ would begin charging those who did not enter the Capitol.

This news comes as over 1,200 people have been charged in connection to January 6. Former Attorney General Bill Barr took to Fox News recently, stating that he felt the DOJ’s prosecution had gone “too far.”

According to Just the News:

Some people, such as those who assaulted police officers and literally broke into the Capitol, should be prosecuted for Jan. 6, Barr said.

“But I think they cast their net far too broadly and have been hounding people that really, you know, just walked into open doors in the Capitol and hung around,” he also said. “I think they just took it too far.”

While people continue to argue over the true nature of January 6, more information has been coming out about the events of this day. This new information paints a picture of an unruly riot, but certainly not an “insurrection” as the left claimed.

While the left has been exceedingly eager to refer to this event as an insurrection, it is worth noting that this is not the first time a government building, even the U.S. Capitol itself, has been breached. A helpful article from The Federalist documents times over the past few years when leftist activists have attacked government building, threatened officials, and interrupted proceedings. Despite all this evidence, these events were never referred to as “insurrections,” and many of the criminals involved were able to escape prosecution. This is a far cry from the scores of people who have been charged following their participation in the events of January 6.

As the American people fight over what happened and the former president faces indictments over his supposed participation, it is important to know what actually happened on January 6. Don’t let anyone else tell you whether the riot at the Capitol was an insurrection, or whether Donald Trump is guilty of treason. As many argue over what happened, we should remember that there is good news as well. Last week, Judicial Watch sued Michael Byrd, the Capitol police officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbit. We have prayed for justice for Babbit’s family, and now they may finally receive that justice!

As January 6 continues to dominate the news cycle, it is important that we are informed. Pray that people would see the truth, and pray that God’s will would be done in America!
