I Prayed have prayed
Lord God, a single day in Your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.

Have you ever signed up for a daily devotional series from IFA? Our newest series, Guard the Gates, explores how we can be intentional about guarding and protecting ourselves from a spiritual perspective. Here is an excerpt from the first installment of this 6-day email series.

Better is one day in your court than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. (Psalm 84:10)

When my kids were little they used to sing a song in Sunday school, “Oh be careful little eyes what you see, for the Father up above is looking down in love, so be careful little eyes what you see.” It then goes on: be careful little ears what you hear, little hands what you do, and so on. It was a cute song, but a powerful and true principal. We must guard what we allow into our lives. What we see, who we listen to, and so on.

While in my daily reading in 1 Chronicles 9:22-26, I came across the gatekeepers. These people had several small jobs, but the main job of the gatekeeper was to “guard the entrance to the house of the Lord.” (v. 23)

As I felt I needed to study this, the Lord led me in a different direction. As I read, I felt him saying, “Guard the gates.” I read this and prayed and studied.  I believe the Lord was referring to our spiritual gates and what we allow in our lives.

A gate is simply an entry point. You can enter or exit through the gate. You might be wondering, what are our spiritual gates and why do we need to guard (protect) them?

They are our eyes, ears, mouth, smell, and touch. These are our five senses, relating to our physical senses, but they are also connected to our spirit man. They are connected to our spiritual senses. (Sight, hearing, taste, smell, and feel)

These are our spiritual entry points.

Our Gatekeeper is Jesus Christ himself. (Jn 10:2, 3)

But we as believers are responsible as gatekeepers for what we allow into our lives.

We must guard what we take in, especially in this time of being bombarded with distractions, false narratives, false media reporting, and attempts to divide and conquer us. We must do what the Word says and guard our hearts with all diligence. (Prv 4:23)

I saturate myself with the Word daily and I give thanks to the Lord continually as I see His Hand upon me in so many things throughout the day. I sing worship sons to the Lord as I spend 30-40 minutes on my exercise bike. I make sure I surround myself with Holy Spirit, God-fearing people who lift up and exhort one another and most of all lift up Jesus! I have written a book called “The Treasure Chest”, a Legacy of Love” which I hope to publish soon and it is filled with nuggets of truth and wisdom learned through different events of my life. Sons I have written to exemplify my experiences with the Lord.

My wife and I are careful about what films we will watch, which is the way the world gets to us most since our reading material is pure and we pay no attention to any of the media; news, entertainment, social mediums, or otherwise.

I read the word in the morning, it gives me direction for the day! I actively engage in worship through dance, prayer, and prayer walks. I create every day. We are told we will do great works, so it is vital to actively work as a co creator with our Lord Jesus and Father to create! I create stained glass, I create prayer bracelets, I create and work in my garden, I create a habitation for the Holy Spirit and have my door open to strangers for opportunities to share love and hope. We cannot expect change if we are not investing time and effort in changing our own lives. I am filled with hope and pray vigorously for the Saul kingdom to fall in my life! I earnestly desire the glory kingdom to demonstrate in me and my home, real evidence of God’s love, abundance, mercy, kindness, and creativity available through salvation to all. Amen

How wonderful to think of ourselves as co-creators with the Lord Jesus! It is so exciting to imagine how we will be spending our time in heaven!

My family gave up on me long ago but that’s ok since the issues this author raised have become increasingly important.
We called it the “eye gate”, etc. As of now, my Tv isn’t on and I don’t watch a lot of news on my cell phone.
My daughter asked me to go to the movies and was annoyed when I said,”probably not”, I don’t need to watch someone’s nightmare evolve on a giant screen. It is extreme, but I believe many mental health problems could be avoided just by being aware of how violence and demonstrations of the demonic really are affecting children and adults. I don’t do Halloween, etc. either. There comes a time you have to choose who and what you allow in your life. May we choose Wisely and not as Fools being led astray by every wind that blows ..

The Lord impressed this verse on my heart many years ago ♥️
Finally Brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things Philippians 4:8. This has helped to guard my heart through the years. I’m choosing not to own a TV as I saw What it can do to a family. The word of God is where I choose to focus these days. Thanks be to God from whom all blessings flow.

Our bodies are the TEMPLE OF HOLY SPIRIT! Whatever we look at, touch, taste, hear and feel , He is doing the same. Are we quenching and grieving HIM by the choices we make? We need be constantly sensitive to Him within us!

So true! We need to be diligent in guarding the gates!in praying against the wiles of the enemy. For ourselves,. Our children, our grandchildren. I keep seeing the old childhood game called Red Rover where each team linked hands to prevent someone from the opposite team from breaking through. Just holding hands didn’t prevent the “foe” from breaking through we learned to link arms!
“Father, for too long has your church put up a weak defense against the enemy. Show your church, your remnant, how to link arms and stand strong for the sake of ourselves and for future generations. In Jesus name I pray. Strengthen my arms, Lord. amen

Don’t watch horror flicks.
Listen to non-trash talk music.
Eat healthy.
Pray daily. Limit sci fi thrillers.
Smell good things intentionally… Oils, the steam of oatmeal, fresh cut apples, putting gas in the car (thankful for a car and to be able to fuel it.)

Just a few suggestions 😃

My husband & I are ver careful to avoid the news that promotes fear! We got rid of cable & only watch u tube where u can get the real news!
We pray our bloodline prayer every morning around our family our nation & our President Donald J Trump! We walk & pray over our neighborhood
Jesus spoke to us early on that we can only focus on Him because He is the author & the finisher of our faith! We will not grow weary in doing good because we trust in Him!
We decree & declare the good news every day! The good news is Ps 2! He who sits in the heavens laughs & He will give us the nations! America is the light to the world & we know as Dutch Sheets says God must have America

Instead of the normal fast from food for a certain time of the day, I decided for this season to identify the four foods that are a compulsion for me and commit those to the Lord. That way, it would be a true sacrifice, and every time I thought of them and missed them, I would smile and ask the Lord to enjoy them FOR me. (I’m sure He likes them as much as I do!) It makes me feel that He is smiling and getting to eat those things that I really enjoy. For me they are raisins, chocolate, cashews, and coffee. I feel that I can hear Him so much better now that I have given those things up.

THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE I AM GOING TO LET IT SHINE, LET IT SHINE LET IT SHINE. LET IT SHINE ALL OVER THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE. YES, LORD LET OUR LIGHTS SHINE BRIGHTER AS WE FACE THE DAYS AHEAD. THE EVIL FORCES SO STRONG COMING AGAINST US IN THESE LAST DAYS. BUT GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN US, THAN THE ENEMY THAT IS AGAINST US. WE LOOK TO YOU LORD TO HELP US FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH, TRUSTING IN, LEANING ON, RELY ON YOU. WE READ THE BACK OF THE BIBLE , WE KNOW WHO WINS. AMEN, AMEN.

This is the key. God has called each one of us as His children and we have ansewerd yes Lord, therefore, we mus continually cleanse our hearts of all that we allow in it for our hearts are deseatful and wicked, But God will cleanse us and purify us as we come before Him and seek His face. He desires a pure heart and and strong Gate Keeper. Praise god for allowing us to carry His Word and be a Light in the darkness. We will stay on the battlefront with the full armor of god on and His breastplate of righteousness. and our feet shod with the Trueth. Let us keep our hearts clean from every wicked device.!!!!!!! God sees and He will honor His Word; He is TRUETH and as we keep the gates of our hearts clean and pray with ferverency , I know we win for God fights our battles for us. stay clean and strong, We are united together in this battle with God our Head. Pray, cry out to god. I know the battle is raging but we will see the mountain of the Lord.

The scripture that has always been in my heart is Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore brethren by the mercies of God, that you resent your bodies as living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, & acceptable, & perfect, will of God. Can anyone add to the battlefield for our minds than this. We have 24 hours a day of access to the Throne of Mercy, look at this world how it has changed in their minds over the last decade. How their attitude toward us has become more violent, angry. We are going to take a stand if we are ready or not sooner or later.

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. I stay behind the lamp. That is what keeps me safe. As I understand it, the Israelites had sandals that had a small light on them that shone only a very small distance ahead. I listen to the Holy Spirit and try not to get ahead of his voice. It requires living one minute at the time. It is tempting to get ahead of God, but as long as I stay behind that little lamp, I am at peace.

Good word of advice. Thank you for that reminder to keep on our spiritual toes. We need to be even more vigilant and busy about our Father’s Business these days by being watchmen on our own walls!

Help me to help others with their walk to You. We need You Lord. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
