Many in the Church are still divided over their support for our current president. Some totally support him with no hesitation and others are still very skeptical of his intentions. Regardless of one’s personal feelings about the man, Donald Trump, all Christians should be concerned about the policies and legislation that are currently being processed at various levels of our government. Our conservative biblical values are being threatened and our religious freedom is at stake. If we do not engage in the electoral process and step up to the plate, the Church at large will pay a price and our commission will be forced underground.

It is imperative that we come together and agree on what’s most important. Rather than focusing so much on a personality, perhaps we need to place more attention on the issues at stake. If we can accurately identify where our focus needs to be, we will have a stronger voice and greater vote in 2020. To better understand where we are at in this process, I came upon the well-known “Technology Adoption Curve” which tracks trends in people adopting new ideas. As we apply this curve to the Trump administration and people’s readiness to adopt his leadership, I believe we can know how to pray more effectively and coordinate more strategically before this next election.

I personally believe it’s the LATE MAJORITY crowd that will turn the tide in 2020. This is the group that isn’t as interested in hearing about the “Cyrus in the White House” as much as seeing what the current administration is doing in championing conservative biblical values. They are focused on the agenda and the issues that will directly impact us as believers and the body of Christ.

In a recent Facebook survey on this question, one man commented: I’m an unapologetic member of the ‘late majority’…If you want to keep the pragmatists and late majority on board for 2020…make it about his policies and administration EXCLUSIVELY. You will never convince us that he’s a Cyrus. You will never convince us that his bullying and hurtful tweets are suitably presidential. But for actual Christian conservatives, his policy record is hard to ignore. If you push his policy record, he wins. If you push his personality, he loses. (Matt R.)

This is food for thought. Let’s prayerfully consider our ongoing efforts in raising awareness about the pressing issues and how we make our appeal. Let’s be thoughtful in how we interact with those who don’t agree with us. Let us take time to listen to the concerns and provide viable information that will verify the actions of this administration that have already supported Christian conservative values.

Ultimately, God’s purposes for this nation go far beyond any one man or one president. Even as the early adopters and early majority will continue to herald this president’s divine commission, it will be the tangible results of his leadership that will make the lasting difference and bring God’s healing and blessing on the land.
