I Prayed have prayed
God, thank You that we are not a people without hope. Our hope is firmly in You, so our hearts are steadfast.
Reading Time: 5 minutes

Lately, I’ve been sensing a general rise of hopelessness — and not only among non-Christians, but in the Church as well. I can understand why many are feeling this way. The battles have been unrelenting: Just when we think things in our nation can’t get any worse, they do get worse; whenever we’re believing that we’ve overcome some personal challenge or battle, it seems that yet another one pops up right around the corner.

The daily headlines proclaim school shootings and more school shootings. A former U.S. president has been indicted. We hear threats of nuclear war. There are endless numbers of riots and violent protests across our land. Our borders are unsafe.

It does seem as if the whole world has gone crazy! In such environments as this, it is very easy to lose hope. And it is correspondingly difficult to hold fast to any expectation of seeing our nation rescued and made whole again.

In a recent posting of his Give Him 15 devotional, Dutch Sheets writes:

In my book, The Power of Hope, I state that “Hope does in our hearts what seeds do in the earth. Without hope, life is sterile and unfruitful; dreams won’t be conceived; destinies won’t be realized. Hope is essential because it is the seed, the starting line, the genesis, and the launch pad. It is, in fact, the incubator where faith is birthed: ‘Faith is the substance of things hoped for,’ God tells us (Hebrews 11:1 KJV, emphasis added). If there is no hope for the future, there will be no faith to face it — let alone build it.”

What Hopelessness Looks Like

If we have no hope for our future — there will be no faith to face what is before us or to continue fighting for the restoration of our nation or our families. For this reason alone, we must not lose hope.

How would you know if you’ve slipped into a place of hopelessness? Well, you might start speaking or thinking like this: “Things will never get better; I don’t see things ever improving; there’s no point in praying or believing anymore; look around — the world is getting worse; I see things only getting worse in the future, no matter how much I pray.”

A friend shared with me recently that this sort of thinking amounts to an anti-Christ spirit. It is surely anti-Christ thinking. If you’re thinking things like those, even in the privacy of your heart, you must come against hopelessness. We cannot afford to lose hope. Hope is vital to the life of a believer; hope is the force that drives us to continue to fight for change. Hope in God and His promises is what keeps us from retreating when things otherwise appear impossible.

The truth is that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Our truth is that all things are possible with God; and with Him, nothing is impossible. We know and we have seen: The prayers of a righteous man or woman are powerful and effective, dynamic in their working; God hears when we cry out, and when we know that He hears us, we know also that we will have what we’ve asked.

What Hopefulness Looks Like

Hope is not a feeling — it is a mindset. Therefore, we have everything we need in the word of God to change such a mindset. How? By renewing our mind to the word of God and His promises, which will cause hope to come alive in us again. Thankfully, the Bible is chock full of hope!

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope (Romans 15:13).

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3).

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

These are only a few of the Bible passages that concern hope; there are many, many more. We must take these scriptures and use them to combat the feelings and thoughts of hopelessness. When those thoughts come to mind, we must speak the word of God over and into our situation. This act alone will renew our minds to the truth. We must resist the devil and his lies. If we continually listen to the news media or to other forms of twisted “truth” from the enemy, we will lose hope. But if we keep our hope firmly placed on the truth of the word of God and Jesus, we will continue to expect to see the goodness of God in the land of the living.

God’s Goodness Brings Hope

Our belief in the promise of His goodness will keep us firmly planted in hope.

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13 NKJV).

The word goodness in that passage means “all that is good in God” — the best that God has to offer. We do not lose hope for this one reason: We are fully persuaded, regardless of what we see or what we hear, that God is going to give us His best. Amen. His goodness will follow us all the days of our lives, and we will see that goodness poured out if we refuse to give up. Amen and amen.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).

We will reap, if we refuse to quit; if we hold fast to hope. Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off (Prov 23:18). We have a promise from God: Our hope will not be cut off. God’s hope within us will not disappoint. Our part is to hold fast to that hope — no matter what.

If you find yourself questioning the future God has for you or for our nation, let me recommend that you begin to declare the word of God concerning hope over your life every single day. Do this until you are filled to overflowing with a solid, unshakable hope in God.

Then, expect to see His goodness — for it is surely going to come upon you.

I have not lost hope in the Lord. I have little hope for us as a nation, however. God has not given us promises that our nation will stand. I am looking for words of hope to give my theee boys, who will likely experience some of the fallout, if our country falls to communism. I do not want them to put faith in our nation. However, I want to teach them to stand up for a government based on righteousness, even if it is likely futile and threatens their lives. It is a difficult task to prepare them for a future that will likely lead to their physical bondage or destruction and to have hope in the “little” graces God gives daily, even if they will face famine, foreign takeover, etc.

If you love God with all your heart and God’s love is in your heart, in your being you know without a shred of doubt that His love, his goodness has no bounds. His Greatness, His Majesty, His Love, His Goodness fills your heart. That all inspires one with overwhelming trust and total confidence. Your heart is filled with hope and never ending thankfulness and gratitude. Hopelessness does not exist

This morning as I prayed through Psalm 107, I was filled with hope. Each time I open His Word, I am filled with hope. https://biblehub.com/hcsb/psalms/107.htm

I give thanks to You Lord, YOU ARE GOOD; Your faithful love ENDURES FOREVER!
🙏I pray those who are wandering in despair, homeless, hungry and thirsty, will cry out to YOU.
🙏I pray those who are enchained, prisoners of the enemy, rebelling against Your Word and counsel would be broken and cry out to YOU.
🙏I pray those who have become fools through their sinful ways…wasting away, may they cry out to YOU.
🙏I pray for those who are in the storms of life, facing insurmountable dangers. May they cry out to YOU.
🙏I pray against the deserts that have sprung up in America….a short time ago vital but now a wasteland because of the corruption surrounding us.

Would You return our pools and springs Father? Would You bless the work of our hands? Would You rescue us and our families?

🙏I pray we will see Your hand of provision and be glad.
🙏I pray ALL injustice shuts its mouth.
🙏I pray we will be wise and REMEMBER Your faithful love.
✝️We ARE Your redeemed. We WILL be delivered from the hand of the enemy. You WILL gather us to Yourself. You are Elohei HaTikvah, the God of Hope, my hope is in YOU.
Thank You Father. Thank You Jesus. Thank You Holy Spirit. Amen

Why art thou cast down, o my soul and why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance. Oh my God, my soul is cast down within me; therefore will I remember Thee . . . Isa. 42:5-6a
This is one of my favorite verses re: hope. A cast-down sheep, I’ve read, is one that is on its back and can’t get up on it’s own. The shepherd must help it get back up, or it might die for any number of reasons. Our Good Shepherd, Yeshua is so willing to do that – to “right” us. Let’s hope in God – His nature, character, promises – not necessarily in what we perceive Him doing or not doing. Our perception can be warped, clouded, or otherwise inaccurate. He is fully trustworthy!

You can declare all the hope you want, but if the hope is focused in the wrong place, it will never be attained. In 1 Cor 15:19, Paul writes, If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied. Our ultimate hope is not in this world, but in all the promises He has given us.. With all the hand wringing and discouragement we truly are a pitiful people if we try and use Christ to get what we want, as noble as it may be. Christ came to set up His Kingdom which is not of this world. The purpose of the Kingdom is to redeem the entire universe. He is using His Ecclesia to accomplish it. He is also using the cosmic forces of evil in the heavenly places. They know there time is finite and then they will be eliminated. They are ramping up their efforts to try and take away our faith, because our faith will be used to destroy them. Put on the full armor of God and stand against them as the evil days are upon us. Understand that God has a plan that will culminate to bring as many as possible to Him. Do not let these times in our nation distract us from shining the light of truth on a fallen world.

Since 2020 until now certain circumstances in my life lead to discouragement and frustration. I wondered if anything would improve and how do I get out of this vicious cycle? I know and have said many of the scriptures mentioned. Watching the news will definitely lead to depression! I realize God is in control but all else seems out of control. Of course God always has a plan for good. Help me Lord to hang on to the anchor of hope for today and the future. With great anticipation I look forward to the Lords return!

Our great hope is in Christ’s return. We put our hope in him, not in what is going on around us. We can have hope in what He is doing, but when things fall apart, we continue to hope in Him because He is the God of hope and will restore us!

Keep reading your bibles and pray no matter what goes on. We must be salt and light and be ready with a word of truth to anyone we encounter. God is our hope. He is still on His throne and in control. He is faithful! Nothing that is happening is news to Him.

When you read all the things the devil has planned for the world, it is easy to fall into discouragement. We know that Jesus is our hope, yet if we don’t get our eyes off of the world and seek the face of Jesus day after day, we will find ourselves drawn into the spider’s web of hopelessness. We feel so small in the face of all the evil, yet knowing who we are in Christ should make us feel powerful and strong as overcomers in this world. Don’t let the enemy draw you away from Christ’s purpose for our lives. Be strong in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for this article that reminds us not to give up hope. I plan to seek those who are captured by the enemy and free them from this worlds power by the blood of the Lamb and the testimony of his grace.

The Word God gave me for 2023 is HOPE. And this is two of the Scriptures for the year: Romans 15:13 New American Standard Bible 1995
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 5:3-5 New American Standard Bible 1995
3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Thank you for this encouragement. It’s a time in which we must be sure that our anchor holds.
Lord, I sing praises to Your Name. You are our reassuring Father. Holy Spirit, come and fill me and all Your people with this assurance. Romans 8:31-32
New American Standard Bible 1995
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
All glory to You, O Most High! Amen.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1
Thank you Father that you are the “way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness.” Not once have You forsaken us, no not once. Your word is our anchor, we stand on Your promises. You and Your angel armies go before us and fight our battles as we are still before You- worshipping and praising You. Our eyes are fixed on You! Jesus, You wear the victor’s crown. On the cross you defeated darkness, and every spiritual enemy! You are our dread champion (Jer. 20:11) Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit- Amen
