A man who recorded the moment an person was viciously assaulted by protesters Sunday night near a federal courthouse in Portland, Ore., said the city now feels like a “third world country.”

Drew Hernandez told Fox News the man was possibly defending a transgender woman being beaten and robbed by Black Lives Matter protesters when the mob turned their attention to him and his female companion. He got into the truck and drove away as he and the woman were being attacked, Hernandez said.

“I think he just felt extremely threatened,” Hernandez told Fox News’ Dan Springer. “They chased him… until he finally crashed. When they finally caught up to him, they went nuts.

“This was violent, extremely violent,” he said. “Sometimes I forget I’m walking the streets of an American city in the Northwest. Sometimes it feels like you’re walking in a Third World country.” . .

A video posted online, which has since gone viral, shows a man sitting dazed on the ground moments before another man runs up from behind and kicks him flush in the face, knocking him out. The victim appeared to be knocked unconscious as bystanders came to his aid.

One witness called police to report up to 10 people “beating the guy,” police said Monday. Someone off-camera can be heard accusing the man of trying to run over protesters.

The suspected attacker who kicked the man has not been publically identified by the Portland Police Bureau. The Portland Police Department told Fox News that the investigation is ongoing and the victim is recovering. . . .

“PPB Assault Detectives are actively investigating this alarming incident that resulted in a man being hospitalized,” the chief wrote. “If anyone has information about this event please reach out. Public safety is up to all of us.”

Information from a Facebook account believed to belong to the suspected attacker indicated he works at Portland International Airport. An airport spokeswoman told Fox News that person has not worked there since 2016.

Violence erupted Sunday as protests got underway in what has become a nightly occurrence. Mobs of protesters have attacked random bystanders and dished out beatings for no reason, Hernandez said.

“It’s literally like just one thing after another, he said. “Just these random people, they start physically assaulting.”

He said the man seen in the video was near a convenience store away from the protest when the attack occurred. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is recovering, police said Monday in a news release.

Police declare riot in Portland after protesters march on police union building

In the video, a person can be heard off-camera accusing the driver of trying to run over protesters.

The attack comes as Portland continues to grapple with nights of unrest that have increasingly turned violent, leading to shootings, assaults, arson and the hurling of deadly objects at police officers.

Hernandez described the environment in Portland since protests begin weeks ago to developing countries where violence is widespread. . .

Oh Father-
This orchestrated violence and chaos is destroying a sense of safety and civility in our nation. What’s more we have leaders of cities and states who are either refusing to let their police do their jobs to protect and defend or they are actually siding with those who are being so aggressive and destructive. This incident is appalling. I pray that people would begin to take practical action to hold the leaders of these communities accountable for their lack of upholding the law. Let the citizens rise up in a united voice to stand for the police- to protect their businesses and to bring these thugs to justice. I pray for those who are so bent on evil that they would be confronted with the wickedness of their hearts and the glory of the gospel. I pray for the mayors and governors to be held accountable to the constitution and to the oaths that they made when sworn into office. Lord- let us not stand silently by while this violence grows in our nation. Let the righteous rise up and seek your face and be actively involved in defending this nation. Father- it feels like a scene from the Lord of the Rings where the battle just keeps coming and the good is being attacked from every side. But we must stand. Strengthen us to speak up. Strengthen us to boldly declare that Jesus is Lord and to share that the gospel is the answer. We ask that your people would reach out to those who have suffered abuse at the hands of these anarchists. Help our churches to recognize that we must not be silent. We must pray and then act on what You say to us. Strengthen those who are publicly speaking out. We ask for your protection on them and their families. You are able to be a wall of fire around them. Help the true church to stand for righteousness and to stand in love- offering mercy and grace but not acquiescing to demands to bow to sin in any form. Help our president and his people to make decisions that are wise and to be the ones who step in to defend the citizens who are being violated in this way. We cry out to you! You are our Defender.our Way maker, our Deliverer, our Father. our Savior, our Strengthener, our God.

And the Govenor Brown of Oregon has not said a word about the violence nor has she accepted help to stop them. She acts as though she doesn’t care about the assaults’ and destruction. What kind of a leader is that. And the mayor finally commented but refused Trump’s offer to send in troops. Are they not caring about this destruction and the attacks on citizens.

Who would ever vote for these leaders again?

If one thinks we have seen riots now… PRAY, because 16.3 Million Americans just lost 65-80% of their benefits with the additional $600 — States won’t Buck-up the extra $100 The President wants, so that’s $300 that is DELAYED (we pray it will be shorter than longer), and THERE ARE FEWER JOBS BECAUSE EVERYTHING’S STILL SHUT DOWN and some BUSINESSES MIGHT NOT REOPEN… SO we NEED Congress to get together or there will be riots and looting like we have NEVER witnessed before. Especially with LESS POLICE and prosecutors that let criminals off from violent charges and LET THEM FREE from prison — No Money, No Risk, We had better pray and FAST, for LAW ENFORCEMENT to INCREASE and the ECONOMY to RE-OPEN, In Jesus’ Name

Heavenly Father, I pray for Your healing to cover Portland and all the cities in America where violence has taken an upper hand. Turn the hearts of hatred to hearts of repentance and faith in Jesus. I rebuke in Jesus’ Name the forces of darkness that drive the anger and frustration of those who unmercifully hurt, kill, steal
without conscience. Please deliver America in Your mighty power from Anarchy. Protect and bless those in Law Enforcement who risk their lives in attempting to protect citizens. Lord, I humbly ask for Your mercy and grace to flood over America. In Jesus’ Name. Amen and Amen

Yes, we join you in that prayer. “Wherever two or more are gathered, I will hear their prayers and answer them.” The prayer in D.C on the 26th is so necessary. We, must repent for failing to guard and protect the sanctity of life, marriage between a man and a woman only–as God designed it.
Sadly, I have not heard one paston on line on in services asking that we all repent. May God grant us Pastors that will lead their flock to seek repentance and righteousness and to be salt in the society. We have been too inactive and too silent too long. This is the result. AMEN.

Lord, bring your cleansing hand to Portland. Let the enablers, and their treason, be laid bare. I ask you in the name of Jesus, to remove every obstacle and lie that would prevent justice from being served. Let the headwaters of this treachery be cleansed. Let every individual and entity associated with this lawlessness be bound to the just consequences of their actions and omissions in Jesus’ Name. Let the voters of Portland become as one and oust the lawless ones from office in Jesus Name. May Portland become an example of the healing that is possible when true repentance comes, in Jesus’ Name.

Lord, send out your truth, your mercy and your compassion. Your word says you are kind to the righteous and the wicked. Lord we pray against the spirit of anarchy that has entered the gates of our country and infiltrated our land. Lord, we ask you to deliver us from this evil. Scatter the enemy and bring peace to our beloved country. Use these troubles to bring many, many people to know you as their Lord and Savior. Strengthen up your church, your people, to spread the gospel like never before. The harvest is ready, Lord, send laborers into the harvest! We pray this all in Jesus holy mighty name, amen

I should not be and am not surprised by these happenings but never-the-less it is horrifying. Mans inhumanity to man is increasing.

Lord have mercy on this land. Send Your angels to wage war in the heavenlies and bring peace back to these troubles places. Protect the innocent bystanders from these horrific attacks and remove all fear of being on the streets.

Why is this still going on? I want to hear something else other than thugs and criminals running wild in the streets. This isn’t a movie with a new episode that we watch every night. This isn’t a foreign country that we see in the news. This is America and this cannot be allowed to continue. Maybe these are the birthpangs that Jesus spoke of. Maybe we are like a woman in labor. I can only hope and pray that what will be delivered through all of this will be like a new birth. Father, keep us from growing tired and weary, and help us to keep our eyes on You. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen
