I Prayed have prayed
Father, help us to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep ourselves from being polluted by this world. (James 1:27)
Reading Time: < 1 minute

This powerful message on Orphan Sunday was given by Missionary Pastor Joe Holman at Purcellville Baptist Church in Purcellville, Virginia. “In a divisive time, we can all agree on this.”

The Lord has repeatedly put verses from Psalm 68 on our hearts here at IFA. We have shared some of the verses in posts and on our prayer calls: God shall arise, his enemies shall be scattered; and those who hate him shall flee before him! As smoke is driven away, so you shall drive them away; as wax melts before fire, so the wicked shall perish before God! But the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy! These are verses that we can all agree apply in these times in America. Maybe verses 5-6 are just applicable, as many of us sense the Lord urging deep repentance in the midst of the chaos: A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families . . .

Thank you for this encouragement. We adopted our daughter who is now 24. She is not walking with the Lord but the story is not over. We gave her a family that loves her and would do it again even though we have experienced much emotional pain through her choices of sin. We now just started with safe families and had our first child this week. I was tired after but the joy knowing I was caring for God’s beautiful child has continued to bless me this week. This video truly blessed and encouraged me. It was a confirmation that I am where I need to be and possible step out in faith to do more. I would love more info about the orphanage in Zimbabwe. May the Lord bless you. And your ministries.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for adopting us as Your children. We are so blessed to be part of Your family. Guide us as we help those who foster or adopt children. May we never forget to pray for them and support them. In Jesus Name, Amen.

I think the challenges and encouraging teaching in this post is where my heart wants to be. More so than basing my expectations on political process, having my opinions count and loving the things of this world. I John 2:15. Thanks for sharing this post.
