I Prayed have prayed
Father, we ask that You help open our veterans centers and nursing homes. Comfort all those affected by these closings.
Reading Time: < 1 minute

An IFA intercessor sent us this important prayer request for seniors in Veterans’ Administration homes and other elderly care facilities.

My father is a veteran, who served our nation for almost 27 years in the U.S. Army, and has advanced Alzheimer’s. I cared for him at home for 6 years, until I couldn’t anymore. He has been in our local veterans center for the past two years, where I visited daily, sometimes 2-3 times.

The staffing situation before this pandemic lock down was bad, but now it is critical. This is not only a problem there, but nationwide.

It is not because the workers on-the-ground don’t care, it’s because there are not enough of them and they are not given the resources needed. Our government, from federal to state, is failing our elders. The regulations are stringent, but impossible to follow, because of low census staffing. Two CNAs/PCAs are expected to care for 25 residents, most who have some level of dementia, incontinent, or have serious health issues. Since the lock down, the low staffing requires 2 CNAs to care for FIFTY residents at my father’s facility.

Our elders are dying, not from COVID-19, but from “failure to thrive.” Our elders do not understand why we cannot visit and think they have been abandoned. FaceTime and window visits are better than nothing, but our loved ones need our human touch! It’s heartbreaking! Our governors, state and federal legislators, and media are blind and deaf to our pleas for help.

Please keep our elders and families, across the USA, in your prayers. Thank you!

We need our intercessors! Will you join us in prayer for this? Share your comments below!

Father, In the name of Jesus, I petition You to reverse the restrictions in these places and to make a way that more than adequate staff be added to all the places in need. I pray that the families of the patients in these places be allowed to visit their loved ones for that in itself is healing to these beloved people. Rescue them my Lord! Thankyou Father in Jesus Name.

Father God, your Word tells us to honor our elders. I pray for those in nursing homes that they may not feel discouraged or abandoned. Cover them with your precious blood. Make a way to have their family members tend to them in the midst of staff shortages. You promised in your Word that you would be with us even when our hair turns grey. Thank you, Father, in Jesus name. Amen

I know as I worked in nursing homes for 25 years. It is a set up for abuse. I pray these restrictions are reversed for the sake of our elderly.
They need social interaction with family members who can advocate for them and love on them.i pray for a release of these restrictions..

Heavenly Father, you know the needs of this nation and the needs of these lovely men and women who do not know why they have been abandoned. Please give strength to the healthcare workers. Give peace and comfort to those in isolation and despair. May healthcare workers be caring and giving and understanding and patient with those in their care. Please dear Lord, warm the hearts of those in earthly control that we may open our nursing homes to loved ones again. And please give Mom and Dad a hug. In Jesus Christ’s name I sincerely pray. Amen.

My brother is in the same situation. Neither I nor any of my family have been able to visit my brother for almost six months due to Governor Beshear’s Executive Order that prohibits visitors to nursing homes. My brother’s health has drastically declined during the past several months. He has been tested for the coronavirus and tested negative. The situation nursing home residents are now facing is like being in jail.
They have done nothing wrong, but cannot leave the building, have visitors, or in some cases, cannot even leave their room. Many of the nursing home residents are soooo depressed and angry. They believe they have been deserted and that no one care for them anymore. That is not living. That is existing. It is completely unacceptable.

I honestly believe this nothing less than legalized torture for care facility residents, their families, and their caregivers. The isolation being mandated in the name of health and safety is harmful in itself, and, especially for memory-impaired patients, having only masked faces is confusing or terrifying. My heart breaks over this, and I thank you all for your fervent prayers for comfort, strength, and restoration of physical touch and hope for all these victims.

You have my prayers, and total understanding. I am a Veteran’s Wife, and suffered what they said was a stroke after an emergency surgery in Nov. 2015, this has been an education on how much work still needs to be done for all Seniors, All Veterans and their families regarding the needed reforms in every State and jurisdiction. I’m still trying to recover, due to the injuries I received in a rehab, skilled Nursing Home. 5 Surgeries now to correct and or repair injuries due to be dropped several times, and due to the neglect, abuse and malpractice inflicted on so many besides myself. I filed a complaint, and the report wa 75 pages long. They were closed for an unreported number of days, and fined an unreported amount of money.
The thought of ever going back or to one or having my husband in one is definitely, something we work to avoid until this travesty of horrible treatment and sometimes death at the hands of those that are being paid to care for your loved ones, or yourself at extremely high rates is the biggest consumer fraud still going on till this day.

If authorities can excuse and tolerate vast mobs in the streets, we can surely administer bedside help to our veterans who have done so much for us. Use all the precautions possible in our ministrations, but get to their sick beds and render the respect, love and compassion..

Father in Heaven thank you for this message. Help all of those who are in these homes. The situation in most of them was deplorable before the pandemic. Give wisdom to the owners and help the government realize that regardless of ownership the people belong to you and require them to do something. Father thank you for hearing our prayer. Thank you for sending angels to visit with these residents who have very little control over their circumstances. Send them supplies and renew their hope In Jesus’ name Amen.

Cathy McMorris Rogers is a House of Representative person in the US Congress. She is married to a veteran and has tried over her years of service, to help veterans. maybe she is a person to start with, to push for some real change.

I personally believe it is immoral on the part of these various facilities where people are in long term care, (for any reason) and cannot receive their family members, get hugs from them, get eye contact with them. One person whose story I read about, found it very emotionally difficult to have to watch people die with no one beside them, just because of this virus. that HCQ med is over the counter in other countries, we should be able to have in this country too, as an over the counter. then people could see their relatives, friends, and take the medication as prophylaxis.

Father, help the thinking of those in leadership. the virus is not a god, just a disease. You Lord are Almighty God. Let this separation of family come to an end swiftly. In Jesus Name, amen.

I was a full time chaplain in a nursing facility, and because of cutbacks, my position was eliminated. I loved my job which consisted of praying and visiting as many residents that I could connect with each day. My job became almost impossible to do with distancing and mask. No longer can speak softly to residents, needed to sometimes yell at them through the mask. I couldn’t hug or touch them, or communicate with a smile. My position was first to be eliminated as non-essential. But the staff morale took a hit with my exit as well. I was suddenly walked out and never had a chance to say goodbye. I can verify that this is a needed area for prayer. and do pray by name for my ex-coworkers as well as so many residents.

Our most loving Father, we praise your name! Thank you for loving, caring and protecting us, even when we are not lovable! Thank you for Jesus and Holy Spirit! Thank you for Intercessors of America’s!

We, as a nation, have allowed demonic forces to infiltrate throughout our land. We repent and invite you back into our country! You founded this nation and it belongs to you! I declare, by the blood of Jesus, we are still one nation und God, and only God!!! We ask for you to rescue us, heal our hearts, and heal our land! Awake and unite your children! Open our eyes to the authority You have given us, Your children, by the blood of Jesus! Give us opportunities to bring others into Your fold!

We ask for you to send legions of angels to comfort And protect those who are locked down in group homes, assisted living, and long term care facilities. We ask the same for their on-the-ground caregivers. Please deliver them and their families from this nightmare. Use what the devil has sent against them as evil and turn it to Your good and glory! We declare, by the blood of Jesus, the devil’s arrows will not penetrate and be returned to him and his demons seven fold!

ABBA Father, we ask all these things in the name of Jesus! AMEN!

Thank you to Intercessors of America for sharing this and to all who answer God’s call to pray!

Yes I agree 100%! I haven’t seen my mother since March 11, except for a few times through a glass window. My sister and I did many things for her that the staff didn’t have time to do. Mom has Parkinson’s and is almost blind so can’t do much to pass the time. The highlight of her day was when we came to visit each day. So she doesn’t want to even live to see another birthday if she has to do it without her family. Because of our own physical issues, we are unable to take her home to live with one of us. 😭 There has to be a better way to help our loved ones who are locked down worse than prisoners.

Father God, look down upon the elderly in care facilities and protect them from all harm… physical, spiritual and emotional. Please open the understanding of those in charge to the severe consequences that may continue to harm loved ones when there isn’t enough staff to care for their needs. Let what is hidden be revealed by Your direction. And Lord, pour out blessings upon those that are doing their best to care for the residents in overworked and understaffed facilities. Thank You for hearing our cries.

Every person needs to be placed in a care facility & not allowed to leave for an extended period of time. I don’t say this maliciously. I speak it from a place of being there. I was in one 2 different times. Once for 6 weeks, another for 9 weeks & only this year will I be turning 65. I have my mental faculties, but I was privy to what happens to other people who don’t have visitors & who are being cared for cuz it also happened to me. A person who only had friends who would sometimes visit, if they could or if they had the time, but it was rough. Being in pain, not being given what you need, being given the quality care you need when you need it, being heard, all of that is so difficult. And then you have other residents in your own room who bring in family members all hours of the night who don’t allow you to sleep so you can rest & get better. It’s horrible. I heard residents yelling at other residents, abusing them with their words. My own dad had alzheimers. I understand how it can affect a person once somebody is no longer there to visit them. Mine died 6 months after my mom, who had faithfully been to see him every day until she couldn’t anymore. When she died, so did he. I think they need to install cameras inside the care facilities as a start so family members & loved ones can see each other & talk. Just to let each other know they’re being watched out for. If we, the public can have them installed in our homes, why not there too? As for nursing staff? I don’t have the answer. And when there are enough staff, sometimes, they too can be rude, & only there for the money rather than the patient. That’s why camera’s need to be installed. So our loved ones can be visited from afar when we can’t do so close up. Praying this situation turns around!

My father was getting older and I knew he need help. We built a little apartment for him so I could help care for him. I thought I would be able to care for him the rest of his life. I did care for him for 7 years but then he got where he couldn’t get in the car so it was impossible for me to take him to the doctor. He couldn’t get in the shower. Then he started falling. The last fall he had bleeding on the brain and was in the hospital. After healing he was sent to rehab at the care center. We loved it there. I felt like they really cared and had many activities to keep them engaged and social. My dad improved so much. He loved the socialization. I visited him every day and ate lunch with him as much as I could. Then covid hit. My dad calls me crying. He thinks I have abandoned him. He doesnt understand what is going on. He said he would rather die from covid than to live this way. It breaks my heart. It is so cruel what is happening to our elderly.

Jesus! Wake us up to the tactic of the enemy being used against our elderly, churches, businesses and more…buy not against rioters and looters…we are truly an upside down world in desperate need of Your wisdom. Restore our thought process as we cling to You, Your Word and ask for Truth, His name is Jesus. We repent, again, for tossing you out of our schools and we are reaping the whirlwind–tearing up whatever is in its path. We turn to You, 180 degrees, and decree “You are God; not government rules.” “You are our Source of life and the One we Adore.” “You, alone, are holy and we lift our eyes to You and cry ‘Abba, Father’ restore our first love that earthly fathers will turn their hearts to their children and the hearts of the children to the father.” Bless our elderly in VA hospitals and nursing care centers plus assisted living to see family regularly and in their absence angelic visitation to help them thrive until You take them home…and may they all come to a saving knowledge of You by the angelic visitation to cause good godly fear of the Lord, their maker! May the Lord bless our elderly and infirm and keep them: The Lord make His face shine upon our elderly and infirm and be gracious to them: The Lord lift His countenance upon our elderly and infirm and give them peace…that they thrive in holiness and forgiveness. Help usA Abba Father!

Yes, I will pray. ” Lord, let those in authority over our states and the regulations put into place see that for every regulation, there is a backfire, a double standard, a illogical reason to keep that regulation in place…send your wisdom and discernment to all responsible for creating and maintaining the standards set for care facilities. In Jesus name, I take authority over the “wisdom of man” and it’s effect on those it is intended to serve and command it to submit to the wisdom of God, wisdom that is saturated in love. Let your love cast out all fear, including the fear of the spread of this virus. I am asking that you would occupy the minds of those in the leadership of our states and facilities so that all imaginations and lofty things that rise up against the knowledge of Jesus Christ would be replaced with the mind of Christ, and your full wisdom…”

I understand this concern completely. My mother is in a memory care facility. They do a good job maintaining this facility, but are relegated to state guidelines, which are tedious to follow. I try to visit with her once a week, via a masked distance visit or Face Time…Recently:
1. We celebrated her birthday, outside, socially distanced and masked. She opened one present, a container of chocolate covered nuts, previously sprayed by a staff member to disinfect, and when she poured some nuts into her hand to eat, a staff member came running out of the building, “NO! You can’t eat them. Not now, not outside. You can have them later, inside.” What????
2. Another visit, my mom kept taking her mask off, needing reminders from a staff member to keep her mask on or she wouldn’t be able to continue the visit…when I left our time together, she took her mask off and smiled, and her teeth were sooooo yellow. I gasped! There has been a change in her physical appearance. She typically maintains good dental hygiene…not sure what’s happening now.
3. Not unusual for care at a memory care facility, but doesn’t she have another shirt and slacks to wear? I have routinely rotated her clothes, checked for stains, washed things the facility overlooks…I think that in the last 6 visits we’ve had, shes worn the same shirt and slacks. Ugh!!!

Jesus, rules carried to extremes beyond reason is unthinkable…it comes from fear in the staff, fear for loss of their health, job or their clients…unhealthy fear MUST be broken in Jesus’ Name. Let wisdom from the Father hover over these facilities and privacy offered to families. I rebuke making the infirm if the staff is masked. I open the door to commonsense from the Lord Himself, in Jesus’ name.

Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus bind the Covid virus. Stop the spread, and provide a antidote so that
all people will have protection against it. Lift the curtain of isolation from Nursing Homes and Veteran’s centers across America. Bless and protect care providers in these places. Bless and encourage family members who are not being allowed to visit and support their loved ones.

Comfort, encourage, strengthen those living in these places during the quarantine. I trust You Lord, who parted the Red Sea, walked on water, fed 5,000 that with You, “all things are possible”. Lord, have mercy, Christ have mercy. Thank You Lord for answered prayer. Amen

Good morning.

Thank you for bringing attention to this vital matter and for praying about it!

My aunt Maria passed away at a nursing home in May. Although the death certificate says that COVID-19 was the cause of death, I am convinced that the actual cause was a broken-heart caused by the loneliness of social isolation. I wrote letters to Congress, advocacy organizations, and other involved agencies trying to get them to alleviate the social isolation while my aunt was still alive, but no action was taken in time to help her.

Still, I am hoping and praying that my stories published and written by the AARP will get in the right hands and help other seniors. The links to those stories are below if you’d like to see them on the AARP and AARP Virginia Web sites. In addition, you’re welcome to send me a friend request because the whole reason that I joined Facebook was to bring attention to the social isolation that’s devastating our seniors.

So, I will be praying with all of you, of course, and will continue to seek opportunities to rectify the lack of holistic health care at nursing homes–health care needs to be about more than just the physical as people are emotional, intellectual, spiritual, etc., and desperately need connection with their loved ones, the people who have cared for their needs the most throughout their lives.

Here are links to the AARP stories about my aunt (with mention of my mom), COVID-19, social isolation, and our experiences at the nursing home:

This story has been published on the AARP Facebook page at the following links: https://www.facebook.com/pg/AARPVirginia/posts/
or https://states.aarp.org/virginia/

And, here is a link to a story in the Richmond Times Dispatch written by Joyce William’s of Virginia’s AARP, which includes some quotes from me:
https://richmond.com/opinion/columnists/joyce-williams-column-how-many-nursing-home-residents-must-die-before-congress-acts/article_fc0b2034-7e99-5141-b309-3d4712f8627d.html

If there’s anything more we can do to bring attention to this matter, please let me know. Thank you!

Best regards,
Lori Pastro

Heavenly Father, expose the enemy’s plot to wipe out our vulnerable elderly and Veterans. Our elderly and Vetrans hold keys to our history, our nations destiny, our financial base, and are a protective covering over the next generation. We need their wisdom. Let their stories and heroism be told and honored. Let us come along side our Vetrans and elderly in comfort, appreciation and prayer.
Raise up a hedge of hearts to war on their behalf, and let NOT ONE be forgotten.
Father, Bless the Intercessor that posted this with peace, and let us join her in this.

I wholeheartedly share this concern! A friend of my wife unexpectedly lost her mother after 5 mos of no direct contact with her.
A very close friend in a deluxe senior home for most of the time could not even walk the halls, living in a nice, but small room.
Another good friend rented a room in a senior facility so he could see his wife every day in a memory unit. Their daughter can have no direct contact.
This and many other elements of unnatural control in a loosely defined ‘pandemic’ are slowly eroding our society.
There is a responsible way to define an unknown health threat, but it involves many inputs from many types of citizens – not just a few ‘authorities’ operating beyond their levels of position.
I pray for wisdom and understanding, seeking God, for all of us.

It is criminal! I believe that it is a demonic agenda to steal, kill and destroy the elderly and the weak. We must protest peacefully, we must access our loved ones forcefully if necessary, and we must pray for favor with staff and for the opening of these facilities. It is NOT good that man/woman should be alone. God ordained family for connection.

Lord, I ask that you would end this isolation for our elders, and in the meantime, that they would feel YOUR touch, that they would feel YOU holding their hands, hugging them, caressing them, & whispering words of love in their ears. Hold them, comfort them, & carry them through this difficult time. We ask that you be our “hands & feet” where we cannot go, as we be your hands & feet where we can go. We plead your blood over them & over this situation, in Jesus’ mighty name!

I completely agree. The risk of exposure to a virus must be weighed against the risk of dying of loneliness and isolation. Humans need to touch each other. A hug, a kiss, a gentle hand-squeeze, a smile-all are as necessary as shots and medications. I finally saw my mother yesterday after 5 months and 18 days. But only for 30 minutes, 6 feet apart, and both of us wearing a mask. My mom is 101! She needs to see us, and she needs a hug and so do I. Remember the stories of the babies in the Foundling Home? They got custodial care-fed, changed, bathed-but they died. They needed love-to be held, rocked, cuddled, sung to, read to,talked to, smiled at, valued. Our seniors need their families. They will one day die, but better to die loved and surrounded by family than to die alone and seemingly abandoned,in order to be “safe”.
