Updates on the Ketanji Brown Jackson Confirmation
As the Ketanji Brown Jackson confirmation continues, GOP senators turn up the heat in their questioning. Jackson reveals interesting information about her views on civil rights, the unborn, and child pornography.
From Fox News. Senate Republicans tangled with Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson Wednesday about whether her sentences as a trial judge show she’s soft on crime – as Democrats came to the defense of President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee and highlighted the historic significance of her nomination….
GOP Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Ted Cruz of Texas, Josh Hawley of Missouri and Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas spent time Wednesday digging through her sentences in several child pornography cases. They repeatedly questioned why she didn’t sentence them for longer time behind bars.
Cotton further pressed Jackson on her handling of a resentencing for a fentanyl dealer….
Jackson explained to Graham that child pornography guidelines were initially created when offenders were sending individual images in the mail. Computers dramatically changed the landscape, she said.
Now thousands of images can be distributed “with one click,” Jackson said. Judges rely on the system that Congress created “to be rational in our dealing with some of the most horrible kinds of behavior.”
“You can be doing this for 15 minutes, and all of a sudden you are looking at 30, 40, 50 years in prison,” Jackson said, in explaining her sentencing decisions.
“Good, good. Absolutely good,” Graham interrupted.
“So you don’t think that’s a bad thing. I think that’s a horrible thing,” he said.
Jackson also told Graham: “Every person in all of these charts and documents I sent to jail because I know how serious this crime is….”
Wednesday will be the final day of questioning of Jackson, before a hearing Thursday with outside witnesses. Democrats are optimistic she has the votes in the Senate and Durbin is still hoping she may get some GOP support. If confirmed, she’ll replace the retiring Justice Stephen Breyer, for whom she once clerked.
Like Tuesday, the toughest lines of questioning came from past and potential presidential hopefuls. That included one child porn case in which Jackson sentenced an 18-year-old male to three months when the government recommended a longer sentence of 24 months.
“You gave him three months. My question is, do you regret it or not?” Hawley said.
Jackson replied: “What I regret is that in a hearing about my qualifications to be a justice on the Supreme Court, we’ve spent a lot of time focusing on this small subset of my sentences.”
Cruz displayed a poster of eight child porn cases where he said Jackson sentenced the defendants to less time than what the government prosecutors and sentencing guidelines recommended. He asked why she consistently gave out lesser sentences on child porn cases “100% of the time.”
“Senator, no one case can stand in for a judge’s entire sentencing record,” Jackson said. “I’ve sentenced more than 100 people. You have eight or nine cases in that chart….”
But Jackson, with the help of Democrats on Senate Judiciary Committee, sought to pivot to her personal biography by highlighting how far the country has come on civil rights with her parents growing up in “Florida under lawful segregation” and now, a generation later, she’s having the opportunity to become the nation’s 116th Supreme Court justice.
“What my being here,” Jackson told the senators, “… is about the progress that we’ve made in this country in a very short period of time,” Jackson said….
With a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court in the balance, senators sought to drill down her previous record as a federal trial judge and her judicial philosophy but complained they didn’t have the same access to information that Democrats did….
On other issues, Jackson said she doesn’t know whether a 20-week-old unborn child can feel pain. She also promised to recuse herself from an upcoming case on Harvard University allegedly discriminating against Asian-American students. Jackson is a member of the Harvard University Board of Overseers.
Thursday’s hearing will feature testimony from outside groups and character witnesses, but not from Jackson herself.

Biden stated he was only going to pick a black woman for the vacant SC position…According to Biden’s discriminating statement, Judge Jackson was only nominated for this position because of the color of her skin and her gender (one which she doesn’t know how to discribe).
Ms. Brown is pro-choice, pro-lgbt, easy on child predators while all the while thanking God. I’m not sure what god she is thanking because as of now, she stands as an enemy of the God of the Bible!
As Christians, we should be praying against
Ms. Jackson’s nomination. God designed leadership positions to honor HIM, uphold Scripture and protect those who do right.
As of right now Judge Jackson doesn’t represent any of those! Praying for God grace and mercy upon us all…
“Search (us), O God, and know (our) heart(s): try (us), and know (our) thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in (us), and lead (us) in the way everlasting.”
– Psalm 139:23-24
I am so thankful for the caliber of leaders that the Lord has raised up in Josh Hawley, Jim Jordan,Madison cawthorn..and Tom Cotton. I list names that are not on this case- additionally ..as examples of the need for truth, character. and diligence in standing against evil. I hope and pray that the vision that the intercessor named Terry had-, on these pages about a week and a half ago.. about Jackson having the dust removed from her eyes-,holds out to be true.. the deeply embedded roots of deception that the Socialists and Communists have been digging into the soil of our country for 75 years are now bearing fruits that will be hard to kill
Its going to be a long cold nuclear winter on the cusp of Yeshua’s return..unless Our Lord returns soon..and we have bern repeatedly admonished we will be walking through this evil for some time..the hardest road is the road to freedom-, in defeating tyranny.
Just the fact that the Democratic senators we’re not allowing the investigating senators all the information on her record.. is a crime in itself, and a telling tail of what we are up against..it seems to me that I need to pray for miracles for our country- and I’m just thinking out about the continued call to repentance that I have been hearing for us to be in.. and I can see why. Especially me.
Therefore I, ( and we )endure all things for the sake of the elect -that they also May obtain the Salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
This is a faithful saying-
For if we died with Him, we shall also live with him, if we endure, we shall also reign with Him.
If we deny Him, He will also deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny himself.
2nd Timothy2;10-13
We count it all joy when we fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of our faith produces endurance. But we let endurance have its perfect work that we may be perfect and complete lacking nothing. James 1; 2-4
“Blessed is the man who trust in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted By the Waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but it’s Leaf will be green, and will not be anxious, in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit
Jeremiah 17:7-8
This woman (who can’t define what a “woman” is!) is unacceptably soft on crime. I just read a news article where “Child Porn Offender KBJ Sentenced to Just 3 Months Continued Searching Pictures of Children After Release.” (See lifenews.com)
It will be a tragedy for our country if she gets confirmed for our Supreme Court.
“Fools find no pleasure in understanding
but delight in airing their own opinions.” ~ Proverbs 18:2
Let us judge each other by the character of the heart and by the fruits of the behavior. Not what a person looks like on the outside. May you Father, truly reign in this situation. To place a godly character in the Supreme Court. I pray in Jesus’ name.
