From CNBC. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Monday warned that the United States may run out of measures to pay its debt obligations by June 1, earlier than the government and Wall Street had been expecting.

In a letter to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Yellen said new data on tax receipts forced the department to move up its estimate of when the Treasury Department “will be unable to continue to satisfy all of the government’s obligations” to potentially as early as June 1, if Congress doesn’t raise or suspend the debt limit before then.
This date is earlier than Wall Street economists were expecting. …
On Monday, President Joe Biden called the “big four” congressional leaders — Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, McCarthy and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries — to invite them to a May 9 meeting at the White House to discuss the debt limit, a White House official told NBC.
The Congressional Budget Office also revised its estimate for the so-called x-date on Monday. …
For the past two months, the White House has refused to participate in talks with McCarthy on the debt limit, insisting that House Republicans pass a debt-limit hike without any strings attached. In exchange for voting to avoid a debt default, the House GOP caucus has demanded sweeping cuts to federal spending. …

There IS enough money to cover our debt. Janet Fallen is lying. Pray that the Congress does NOT raise the debt ceiling. The outrageous spending of the democrats must be stopped.

Many years ago I took a “Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University” class. Smart people keep 3-6 months living expenses in the bank for emergencies. We are all “cruising for a bruising” because we refuse to educate ourselves about sound financial principles. A prayer for Kevin McCarthy to whom Janet Yellen’s letter was addressed: “Father, Kevin McCarthy needs to take a stand and say: no more will we kick the can down the road and refuse to do our job as members of Congress! Father, do not let this man sleep at night until he has the courage to face the fact that the gov’t cannot pay it’s bills for a reason–we spend too much! Please bring other members of Congress alongside of him who will say ‘we need to change’ right now, not tomorrow, TODAY IS THE DAY! Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today! Heaven help us! Jesus, You are our hope and stay! On Christ the solid Rock we stand all other ground is sinking sand! In Jesus glorious name, Shalom, Shalom! Amen.”
Father, we thank you for making our nation one of the most prosperous and free nations in this world. We ask Your forgiveness for the financial state we are in that has come about from many years of careless spending.
We ask in prayer for You to bless Janet Yellen and others who are elected or appointed to have Divine Wisdom on sorting this out and to put aside all personal agendas to come together for a unified decision on resolving this issue. Use this problem to draw our leaders to You and Your salvation that they desperately need. Surround them with Godly advisors and remove those around them who have nefarious schemes for our nation. Nothing is impossible with You and we give You all the honor and praise now for what You are going to do.
We love You, Lord and bless Your name and thank You for allowing us to come before Your mighty throne with this petition. Remind us to make all the news we hear daily opportunities for prayer and to see Your name honored and glorified in all the affairs of our great nation.
