Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence (DNI), quoted this verse at Charlie Kirk’s Memorial in Arizona on September 21:

Therefore, be always of good courage and know that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. We are of good courage, I say, and prefer to be absent from the body and at home with the Lord. Therefore, we have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him (2 Corinthians 5:6, 8-9, translation unknown).

It’s astonishing that in our series of prayer guides from Charlie Kirk’s Memorial, many of them are based on the words of politicians. As we’ve reported, the “Trump Admin Is the Most Christian in American History.”

But Ms. Gabbard is not among them. While her father was Catholic, her mother was Hindu, and she grew up studying both faiths. She attended a “missionary boarding school for girls” in the Philippines, but she “consciously” chose Hinduism, and she was first sworn into Congress in 2013 on the Bhagavad Gita.

In addition, she practices yoga. Angela Rodriguez addressed this practice in her IFA article “The New Age is Infiltrating Public Schools”:

The word yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj, which means “to yoke” or “to unite.” The question is, what is one uniting with?

The answer is: one (at least) of the 330 million Hindu gods, which we know as believers are demons.

So why would we prepare a prayer guide based on the words of a Hindu?

Millicent Cedra, a Gen Z preacher and speaker from Australia, married to a former Muslim from Egypt, posted:

I’ve seen far too many Christians grumbling about Charlie Kirk’s memorial, posting all kinds of complaints… 😫

“I don’t like that the Gospel came from a bunch of politicians.” “These politicians are just using the name of Jesus to get ahead.” 👀😒

SO!? Who cares what the heart of these politicians were, a hundred million people heard the Gospel?!

Then she quoted Philippians 1:15-18 (NIV):

It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. 📖👆

Did Ms. Gabbard “preach Christ?”

John Wesley preached Christ before he was born again. He wrote, “I went to America, to convert the Indians; but oh! who shall convert me?” Once his “heart was strangely warmed,” he became a catalyst for the First Great Awakening.

As you’ll see below, Ms. Gabbard did say, “God, use me for your will.” “God, my life is yours. I am yours. My heart is yours.”

I also think it’s important to remember we can take inspiration for our prayers from anything in this fallen world, and why not continue to pray for Ms. Gabbard while we’re at it?

The most recent time we can find online that Ms. Gabbard indicated she was a “practicing Hindu” was in 2019, during her bid for the presidency.

That was the first year IFA published articles inspiring prayer for her, and this was how it started:

Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) Has worked with Democratic Socialists of America members through her political career. Ties to some Filipino-American “former communists.” Worked with Communist Party USA affiliated former Congressman Dennis Kucinich to defend Soviet-Russian puppet Syrian leader Bashar-al-Assad.

Since then, we’ve prayed for her through 35 articles, and those articles inspired people to pray 64,925 times (that they indicated).

The Lord is listening.

During that time, we’ve seen our prayers answered! Mrs. Rodriguez wrote in her IFA article “Intel for Intercessors: Tulsi Gabbard”:

In 2020, she introduced a bill to block abortions of babies who were capable of feeling pain. Interestingly enough, Gabbard had voted against this bill previously, but then became the sponsor of it. Additionally, she “introduced legislation that aimed to ensure medical care to babies born alive after an attempted abortion.” This same year, in spite of heavy backlash from Democrats, Gabbard introduced the “Protect Women’s Sports Act” bill, which would provide Title IX protections for female athletes based on biological sex.

By 2022, Mrs. Rodriguez wrote of Ms. Gabbard:

She could no longer stomach the political tactics and policies of the Democrat party, saying they were dominated by “an elitist cabal of warmongers who are driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoking anti-white racism.” At that time, she declared herself an Independent.

Then, in 2024, she joined the Republican Party, saying:

I am joining the party of the people. The party of equality. The party that was founded to fight against and end slavery in this country. It is the party of common sense and the party that is led by a president who has the courage and strength to fight for peace.

On February 12, Nathan Tabler led us in this prayer in light of Ms. Gabbard’s appointment as Director of National Intelligence:

Pray that the officials in the Trump administration would never seek wisdom from false gods. My people ask counsel from their wooden idols, And their staff informs them. For the spirit of harlotry has caused them to stray, And they have played the harlot against their God (Hosea 4:12).

And on April 3, Mrs. Rodriguez led us in this prayer:

Pray that Jesus Christ would reveal Himself to her in a powerful way and that God would surround her with Christians who will share the gospel. Pray for her salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Can you see how our prayers over the years are being answered? Specifically, she was surrounded by Christians at both of Charlie Kirk’s Memorials.

It doesn’t seem that she’s rejected Hinduism for Christianity… yet.

At the first Charlie Kirk Memorial at the Kennedy Center on September 14, she opened with 2 Corinthians 5:6 and 8.

Interestingly, at both memorials, she left out verse 7: For we walk by faith, not by sight.

The point she drew from the passage at the Kennedy Center was, “Whatever time we have: What are we doing with it?”

Let’s pray once again for Ms. Gabbard:

Lord, may Ms. Gabbard see the other important message of the passage she quoted and know the Way to be at home with the Lord for eternity. You turned Ms. Gabbard from wanting to kill babies in the womb to championing their right to live. You turned her from Democrat to Independent to Republican. We pray You will now shift her from the Hindu faith, which embraces every god, to the One who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
