From The Epoch Times. Joseph Tacopina, attorney of former President Donald Trump, told The Epoch Times that the former president is planning to appeal the verdict that found him liable for battery and defamation charges in the E. Jean Carroll trial.

It came as a Manhattan grand jury on Tuesday ruled against former President Donald Trump on one count of defamation and one count of battery in a civil case launched against him by Carroll, an advice columnist.
The verdict will not result in jail time because it is a civil case. The jury found that Trump should pay a total of about $5 million in damages to Carroll, including about $3 million for the defamation charge and about $2 million for the civil battery charge. …
It concluded a one-week-long civil trial in the Southern District Court of New York, in which Carroll, 79, claims Trump, 76, raped her in a dressing room at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan in 1995 or 1996—committing a battery offense—and, in his denial of the incident, committed libel, a type of defamation in written words. …
Because the case was brought in civil court, Carroll was required to establish her battery claim by “a preponderance of the evidence”—a legal standard meaning more likely than not—and establish “clear and convincing evidence” for her libel claim. Both standards here are lower than the “proof beyond a reasonable doubt” requirement to establish a guilty verdict in criminal cases.
Jurors were tasked with deciding whether Trump raped, sexually abused, or forcibly touched Carroll, any one of which would satisfy her claim of battery. They found that Carroll did not prove that Trump raped her but instead found that Trump sexually abused her. They also found that Trump defamed Carroll.
“Strange verdict,” Tacopina told reporters outside the courthouse. “It was a rape case all along, and the jury rejected that.” …
Carroll’s lawsuit traces back to 2019 when the writer accused then-President Trump of sexually assaulting her in the mid-1990s. After Trump denied Carroll’s allegations in 2019—saying that “she’s not my type”—Carroll filed a lawsuit accusing Trump of defaming her in the same year, citing those words. That lawsuit bounced around state, federal, and appellate courts in New York and Washington, D.C., without material consequences. …
Trump has, until the present day, denied all of Carroll’s allegations.
“I have absolutely no idea who this woman is. This verdict is a disgrace – a continuation of the greatest witch hunt of all time!” Trump wrote on Truth Social after the verdict came out on Tuesday. …
Legal Expert Weighs In
Alan Dershowitz, a professor who taught at Harvard Law School for 50 years, told The Epoch Times on May 8 that he believes that Carroll’s case fails based on procedural considerations alone.
“Those cases never should have been allowed to be brought,” Dershowitz told EpochTV’s American Thought Leaders program in an interview, referring to the two cases Carroll brought against Trump.
“The historical purpose of a statute of limitations is to make sure you don’t have to stand trial for something that occurred 25 years ago—in this case, even more than that,” he explained. “How do you remember things? How do you know where you were? Maybe he was in Europe at the time. She hasn’t even given the dates and the times of the year.”
“It’s a case that normally would be thrown out—but again, it’s Donald Trump,” Dershowitz said. …

If that charge were true then why is it now coming out, they want to disqualify Trump from running again. I pray he runs again and I will vote for him again, our country was doing much better under his leadership, Biden is taking us down, I don’t see one thing he has done to make our country great. Unfortunately, this is just another demonstration that is not about justice or producing evidence, but more than likely a shot at discrediting and making some money on the side. This case should have never been brought to court without more evidence of when and where.
Trump was very well known in New York and at that department store. I’m sure the clerks all recognized him and catered to him because he was so famous and rich. It’s not conceivable that he would walk into a Manhattan store and visible grope a stranger (who claimed he raped her) practically in public.! Of course he’s innocent! The left just doesn’t want him to run again because they know he’ll win.

We pray for truth, Your truth, to prevail in all aspects of this case with Trump as well as with all things related to our government agencies. Your truth has been lost to a large extent in our country, and we so desperately need it. We so desperately need You, sweet Lord.
Well, for me this is an easy one. First of all, – if you want to compare president Trump to other human beings.. we ALL need humility. Jesus made that clear.
Second, if you want to compare him to other politicians.. even though he’s an ( or, Was..)outsider.. at least that’s how he started, – look at President Kennedy. He was just completely inundated with sexual sin of all kinds. It’s so easy to point the wagging bony finger.. and I say this even as I have confessed repeatedly my own disappointment in our 45th president over his debacle with the experimental gene therapy. So the point is really not about whether or not president Trump has sin.. it would be great to have President Reagan all the time.. but those are few and far between. Let us focus on what he did well. Reports have it that he actually has-,actually physically and verbally..accepted Jesus in the power of the holy spirit in recent months. Of course there will be someone who even disparages that. You know the rock singer Bono from the band U2- said famously in the lyrics of one of his songs..

First I think it is a set up from a woman who wants attention. Second, how many presidents had sexual relationships while in office, John Kennedy- Bill Clinton, etc. I do not condone it but I think it is a setup do he won’t/can’t run for president!

President Trump was an incredibly rich, young and handsome man when this allegedly happened. He had scores of gorgeous women swarming him willingly to do whatever, whenever. I have trouble believing he felt he had to force unwanted attention on anyone…although i was unexpectedly physically groped through my clothing as a teenager by a married middled age man at a social event during where alcohol was involved. I in no way wanted that type of attention, and especially not from him, i never flirted with him, i barely knew him, when i realized what was happening i distanced myself from him, and was too shy and too non confrontational to call out his bad behavior, so i do understand these things happen without a woman’s consent or even interest sometimes. On the other hand, perhaps some of his accusers were enamored with him, flirtatious, coveting his attention, and got it, but soon realized what they got was lustful attention, not genuine respectful romantic interest. I experienced that as well. Navagating social interactions with men can be tricky for beautiful women. Perhaps their and his signals got mixed up. He was used to women throwing themselves at him and perhaps he assumed any flirtatiousness was more of the same. Perhaps he was presumptious, and a little too raw with acting that out on some. Who knows. Alcohol and partying could have been involved, in some cases, causing altered states, altered thinking. Again, who knows. As for the author, why did she wait so long to join the “me too” crowd? Why did she not come forward in 2016? Because no one thought Trump would actually win. It seems she came forward now as part of more election interference. She is part of the elite crowd. She had a reputation as being a free and uninhibited woman. She wrote about it, and had an advice column. All I can say is who knows, but why now after so many years. It doesn’t make sense. I just hope and pray Trump can move on now unhindered in his campaign. If He is God’s choice for America i hope and pray that God’s will would be done on earth as it is in heaven.
I pray that the justice system in the United States will turn back to the rule of law. The criteria required for a “conviction” as stated “a preponderance of the evidence”—a legal standard meaning more likely than not—and establish “clear and convincing evidence” for her libel claim” was not even remotely met. E. Jean Carroll could not even give the year of the alleged incident. Sexual assault is not something you forget who what when where and only can give a vague account of. It is just “me too” on steroids based on a T. V. program and so reminiscent of the Blasey-Ford accusations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The politics of personal destruction has become a tactic of both parties. In this case the wronged party is not E. Jean Carroll. The defamed person is, like Kavanaugh by Blasey-Ford, President Trump. I pray for justice in this case by higher court reversal not because it’s Trump but because this country needs to get back to the rule of law.

Sadly, because I voted for him twice, hoping Poppa God would use him to do good a second term, because the foolishness and down right evil he has done does not cancel out the good he did do as President that first term, sadly, I think Mr Trump is getting a life lesson, a very painful way. Instead of humbling himself, he continues to exalt himself, berate others and ignore our Holy God, Who does not play. I don’t know if Mr Trump abused this woman sexually. I was not in court to hear her evidence, but Mr Trump’s own words are enough for me to think he could have abused her and simply forgotten her face.

If President Trump is found guilty of sexual abuse, this should have happened when it occurred. The fact that they are trying to make President Trump guilty now is unjust, is politically motivated, it’s a lesson of totalitarianism.

Unfortunately, Mr. Trump did not help his case when he claimed in his videotaped deposition that Ms Carroll had told CNN that she found rape ‘sexy’ and then went on to further throw doubt on his character when he responded in the following manner:
Question: “And you say—and again this has become very famous—in this video, ‘I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p—. You can do anything.’ That’s what you said. Correct?”
Mr. Trump: “Well, historically, that’s true with stars.”
Q: “It’s true with stars that they can grab women by the p—?”
Mr. Trump: “Well, that’s what, if you look over the last million years I guess that’s been largely true. Not always, but largely true. Unfortunately or fortunately.”
Question: “And you consider yourself to be a star?”
Mr. Trump: “I think you can say that, yeah.”
As one journalist observed ‘A modicum of restraint, or twinge of regret about the accusation against him, might have put some doubt in the jury’s mind. Yet even when it’s in his legal interest, Mr. Trump can’t stop from justifying his crude behavior.”
The case wasn’t a strong one and may be challenged but Mr. Trump will have a problem with juries overlooking his own comments.
What if I dig in your past before you knew CHRIST, if you do know CHRIST that is, what would I pull out? Many things in my life before CHRIST I am glad they are under the Blood of JESUS and I am forgiven of them! He was being brutally honest n realistic how many men “locker-room” talk; and that was many years ago. He knows the errors of his past ways. His “crude” behaviors referred to does not make for a criminal act.
Perhaps, if I include more of the exchange in the taped deposition, it would help clarify the situtation:
“Mr. Trump: Well, sort of that’s what she said I did to her. She fainted with great emotion. She actually indicated that she loved it. Okay? She loved it until commercial break. In fact, I think she said it was sexy, didn’t she? She said it was very sexy to be raped. Didn’t she say that?’
Attorney: So, sir, I just want to confirm: It’s your testimony that E. Jean Carroll said that she loved being sexually assaulted by you?’
I listened, by the way, to the part of the interview with Anderson Cooper that he references. Actually, what she said that happened between her and Mr. Trump ‘hurt’ and ‘wasn’t sexy’. (The opposite of what Mr. Trump said.) Then she went on to say that some think rape is sexy (I think she meant men) and was implying that what happened was not.
And, yes, I agree this would have been a wonderful moment for Mr. Trump to tell the world that he had been so changed by his encounter with Christ that he was no longer the person who spoke so crudely about women and that he no longer holds those views.
But regardless of that lost opportunity, I was just clarifying what occurred in the court room and was not commenting on whether he should or should not have been charged (much less found guilty) or implying that once someone becomes a Christian, everything about one’s past should not be bought up again (Criminal or otherwise).

I think this is a horrible miscarriage of justice and a witch hunt against President Trump to try to discredit him. Let President Trump and his family hear YOU say that YOU will save him and his family from them (those fighting President Trump and his family). 4 Dishonor those who are trying to kill President Trump and his family. David prayed that prayer to GOD hundreds of years ago. It is still appropriate and powerful today.
President Trump and his family are imperfect humans. But GOD has chosen them for a specific task (for such a time as this).

They were bound and determined to find him guilty of something. We need to pray that the consequences will be minor.
I believe that it’s a total lie and fabrication . Plus, isn’t it past the stature of limitations for anything that long ago? They are just trying to pin something on him to defame him so he won’t win or won’t continue running .We need to continue to pray that no weapon formed against him will prosper and condemn every tongue risen against him in judgement.
