President Trump ordered Immigration and Customs Enforcement to resume vehicle stops after the agency briefly paused the practice following multiple shootings involving ICE officers. The president said traffic stops remain one of the agency’s most effective tools for carrying out immigration enforcement and warned that abandoning them would hinder efforts to deport criminal illegal immigrants.

Trump said in a Wednesday morning Truth Social post that the stops were necessary to implement his mass deportation agenda. He added that giving up the vehicle stops, where many immigration arrests are made, played right into the hands of the “radical Left.”

“The Open Border Policy of Sleepy Joe Biden allowed 25,000,000 people to pour into our Country, unchecked and unvetted,” the president said. “Many were Criminals, and we have to get them out. In order to do this, we must be strong, tough, and smart, and we CANNOT give up one of I.C.E.’s most important and effective Crime Fighting tools, THE TRAFFIC STOP! Once we do, we are playing right into the criminal’s hands.”

“The Radical Left Dumocrats would like to see this done, but it won’t happen on my watch. I.C.E., be judicious, fair and smart, and go back and do your very important job,” he said. “Keep those Crime Stat Records coming! Remember, you are loved and respected in America.”

Border czar Tom Homan indicated the suspension was never intended to be permanent. Speaking on Fox News Tuesday, Homan said the agency was taking a brief pause to evaluate officer safety after a sharp increase in attacks on immigration officers. According to Homan, vehicle attacks against ICE personnel have increased dramatically, prompting officials to review training and procedures before returning to normal operations.

The temporary directive followed multiple violent incidents involving ICE officers. In one recent case in Maine, the Department of Homeland Security said a 26-year-old Colombian national attempted to flee during an enforcement action, leading an officer to discharge his weapon after fearing for public safety. Similar incidents have highlighted the increasingly dangerous environment facing federal immigration officers.

Government has a biblical responsibility to uphold justice and protect those who enforce the law faithfully (Romans 13:1-4). As intercessors, let us pray for wisdom for our nation’s leaders, and protection for law enforcement officers as they enforce justice.

Pray for President Trump, Tom Homan, and ICE leadership as they make decisions affecting immigration enforcement. Pray for the safety of officers serving in dangerous situations, for wisdom as policies are implemented, and for our nation to pursue justice with courage.
