I Prayed have prayed
Lord, give our leaders wisdom as they make decisions about marijuana and drug policy. Protect our nation from harm, and guide us toward solutions that honor You and promote true healing.

The Trump administration is moving to reclassify marijuana, a decision that could expand medical research while also raising serious moral and cultural concerns. As this issue develops, believers must carefully consider both the potential benefits and the broader implications.

Find out when your state prays.

From Fox News:

President Donald Trump’s administration is reclassifying state-licensed marijuana as a “less-dangerous” drug, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced Thursday.

Blanche signed an order reclassifying FDA-approved and state-licensed marijuana from Schedule I – reserved for drugs like heroin – to the less strict Schedule III.

“The Department of Justice is delivering on President Trump’s promise to expand Americans’ access to medical treatment options,” Blanche said in a statement.

This policy shift reflects a growing push to explore alternative treatments for serious conditions like chronic pain, PTSD, and depression. Supporters argue that rescheduling marijuana could open the door for more rigorous scientific research, allowing doctors to better understand its potential benefits and risks. For many patients—especially veterans—this could mean new hope where traditional treatments have fallen short.

At the same time, this decision raises important concerns. Critics warn that reclassification may further normalize marijuana use in American culture, blurring the line between medical application and recreational use. Increased access could lead to higher rates of dependency, impaired judgment, and long-term health effects—issues that cannot be ignored.

For intercessors, this debate goes beyond policy. Scripture calls us to sobriety, self-control, and wise stewardship of our bodies. While caring for those who suffer is essential, we must also be cautious about embracing solutions that may carry unintended spiritual and societal consequences. This is a moment for discernment, not just politically, but spiritually.

As this process continues, let’s pray that our leaders pursue true healing solutions—ones that honor God, protect individuals, and strengthen our nation.

Pray for wisdom in this decision—and share your perspective with other intercessors.

We come to you heavenly Father to press forward for (Your) healing. It might help with pain BUT has a negative effect with brain function. With daily task like driving and job functions where ppl need to have more brain function and not less.
I lived in the Bronx, NY area and seeing my dad and family reaction after smoking weed has kept me away from ALL drugs.
I thank you Lord for your grace. I ask for Your Intervention to help us in Every situation. To keep each person drug free; even from pain killers. Help us to see how the enemy takes advantage of ppl when they are most vulnerable. Fill us with your wonderful glorious (Grace) to be filled and led by The Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10 Apostle Paul describes a “thorn in the flesh”—a messenger of Satan sent to harass him—and shares that he pleaded with the Lord three times to remove it. God did not remove the thorn, but answered: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”. .
keep us and sustain us in every suffering, in Jesus name we pray.
Amen

I understand marijuana can benefit many people medically; however, I also realize marijuana use in people who have schizophrenia and those predisposed to psychotic disorders can be devastating. According to Gemini, for people with psychotic disorders, marijuana can act as a powerful catalyst to cause harm in three major ways. First, it can act as a trigger that shifts them from a healthy state to a psychotic one, causing symptoms to appear 2 to 3 years earlier. Next, it’s a catalyst for relapse by blocking the effectiveness of antipsychotic medications and it also causes longer hospital stays. Last, it acts as a catalysis to heighten paranoia turning mild suspicion into full-blown delusions. Hallucinations become louder, more frequent and more frightening. It caused disorganized thinking with fragmented thoughts making it difficult to maintain conversation or complete daily tasks. I hope these issues will be taken into consideration and influence the decisions of our policy makers.

I know God created it for a reason, so I don’t have a problem with it medically. However, it has created a huge problem here in Michigan where you can purchase it for recreational purposes.

For a drug that’s supposed to be so helpful, why is the smell so putrid. Young people, high on weed, walk around leaving this offensive smell wherever they go. You know the drugs presence, like a demonic odor!

Father God, Your ways are beyond man’ ways. Bring to light those herbs and plants that are natural healing substances to the body that don’t come with a tag of addiction and odor.

As an RN, and a believer, I would like to see the Lord raise up a George Washington Carver for marijuana. The Lord did create it and call it good. That said, I doubt He ever expected us to smoke it (or any other plant). I also feel that it should never be an OTC product, but only available by prescription, and only for authorized use as determined by evidence based research and FDA approval, NOT by a medical card authorizing one to buy as much as desired and used any way one sees fit as is done in my state. it should never be considered a recreational drug.

Cannabis research had much research done – even back in the 1960’s. One thing that was found is slow destruction brain cells. Although it may give seemingly relief for some in different situations —. it is not resolving the root issue. Therefore, it is not the best choice. In some cases dietary change can resolve the issue, as an example. If the answers already known to issues in health, including mental & emotional issues were not being buried but applied many people would be free of sicknesses & traumas. Thank you for allowing me to share.

I’m disappointed by this, having seen first hand the effects of marijuana use in NYC (where I live), Oregon (where my parents live), and Colorado (where I taught acting for many years).

I wrote an article about how legalization of marijuana has drawn cartels to those states: https://ifapray.org/blog/damage-and-harm-cartels-are-causing-americans

Lord, remove our dependence on drugs of every kind!

It’s about time our government did this. The effects of alcohol are far worse than anything marijuana causes. Marijuana should never have been classified as a schedule 1 drug. It doesn’t even begin to compare to other schedule 1 drugs such as cocaine or opiates. This classification has been widely used as a pretense to other law enforcement activities. Especially from a medical standpoint this should have been done long ago.

Yes, it may have some medical benefits and I applaud studying it and using it when medically necessary. But ut needs to be limited and not legally available to people, especially the young. Marijuana causes brain cells to die, when smoked and just like any other drug causes issues with the individual and society at large.

Lord God, You are the Lord Who Health me. You have healed me of many things, even from my car accident! Mighty God, currently I take meds to keep me on the level. Meds You inspired and allow for our benefit and I thank You.
So my Great Healer, make Marijuana be of benefit but have it controlled like Phenobarbital or Lamotrigine. Yet is used recreational outside the law. So Awesome King, do Your will. Guide the Doctors and Policy Makers to the choice You want. For Your will to be done.
In Jesus name and by His Blood and the Power of the Holy Spirit I pray unto You my Lord God Almighty, Amen.

I am concerned about the long term consequences. People becoming dependent on this and those who take advantage of this to use it recreationally and not just medicinal. I have seen too many people addicted to marijuana and not only that but once it has no effect anymore go to something stronger and lace this with other drugs. It’s not helping us seek a solution and honor our bodies. It’s just going to help people Justify their choice to use this over real medicine like the word of God and Jesus.
