On Monday, the Trump administration released a memo aiming to protect religious freedom and religious expression throughout the federal government.

The memo outlined conduct that should not result in disciplinary or corrective action, including displaying in the office bibles, religious artwork, jewelry, posters displaying religious messages and other indicia of religion “such as crosses, crucifixes and mezuzah.”
The memo also said one or more employees should be allowed to engage in individual or communal religious expressions and that employees can engage in conversations on religious topics “including attempting to persuade others of the correctness of their own religious views, provided that such efforts are not harassing in nature.”
Federal workers can also “encourage their coworkers to participate in religious expressions of faith, such as prayer, to the same extent that they would be permitted to encourage coworkers participate in other personal activities,” the memo said.
The memo was sent by Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Scott Kupor to the heads of all departments and agencies. According to The Hill, it instructs these heads to allow personal religious expression “to the greatest extent possible unless such expression would impose an undue hardship on business operations.”
The Hill also notes that the OPM worked with the White House Faith Office to develop the memo.
Most notable is the memo’s protection of “attempting to persuade others of the correctness of their own religious views.” This provision protects the act of evangelism, one of the most important tenets of our Christian faith.
President Trump established the White House Faith Office in February and an anti-Christian bias task force in May. This memo from the OPM is only the latest way his administration is protecting believers. Let’s thank God for this!

Father we thank you for the Trump administrations continued support for religious freedom in our country by sending this memo to all department heads and agencies to allow personal religious expression “to the greatest extent possible unless such expression would impose an undue hardship on business operations.” In light of this memo, I pray that you would wake up your church to the freedoms and blessings we have in America and that we would not hide our faith under a bushel, but would let our “light so shine before men, that they would see our good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven. ” I thank you today for President Trump and his attention to promises he has made.
