As the severe persecution of Nigerian Christians continues, President Trump on Friday designated the African nation a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).

From the Daily Wire:

The designation, which the president announced as he arrived at Mar-a-Lago in West Palm Beach, means that Nigeria has engaged in “severe violations of religious freedom” under the International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA) of 1998.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria,” the president said in a post on Truth Social. “Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter.”

“I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it,” he continued. “When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done! I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter, and report back to me.”

Representatives Moore and Cole thanked the President for this action, with Representative Moore specifically calling the President a “champion for Christians around the world” on X.

Nigeria now joins Burma, China, Cuba, Eritrea, Iran, North Korea, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan as a Country of Particular Concern. President Trump had originally designated the country as a CPC during his first term, but Antony Blinken, Secretary of State under the Biden administration, removed it from the list.

Let’s pray for the persecuted believers in Nigeria, and let’s thank God for using President Trump to defend them!

I recently spoke to a woman who’s brother was killed in Nigeria. It was not because of his faith. Those robbing his house also took his life. She told me she can’t go back until order is restored.

I’ve read that the Church there is growing.

Lord, we praise you that persecution is fanning the flame of global revival, even in such an oppressive place! We pray for all those in harm’s way, especially our precious brothers and sisters in Christ!

Praying for Heaven on Earth and marvel at His great love and long-suffering for His bride when we are so utterly ugly and broken.

Father God,
We pray mercy on the persecuted Christians in Africa–in Nigeria, Eritrea, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Algeria. They are suffering and they need our support and prayers. Strengthen them in this time of persecution and keep their faith strong. Protect their families and let the world know of their plight. Save them from unbearable suffering. In Jesus Name, Amen.
