In recent days, the president has accused left-wing groups of fomenting violence against Republicans and conservatives. The president accused the “radical left” of inciting hatred and violence after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 10, and hinted at action from his administration to crack down on such groups.

“I am pleased to inform our many U.S.A. Patriots that I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION,” wrote Trump in a post on Truth Social. “I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Trump’s announcement came days after he said that he would consider a terror group designation for Antifa, a radical leftist group that has been accused of attacking law enforcement and inciting riots.

The President has been on the war path against Antifa and, more broadly, far-left violence for years now. Most recently, in a video statement following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, he accused the group of causing “violence and murder” by “demonizing those with whom [they] disagree day after day, year after year in the most hateful and despicable way possible.”

Antifa is a group that most intercessors are probably familiar with. Though Wikipedia characterizes it as a “highly decentralized array of autonomous groups,” it also acknowledges that the movement is responsible for countless acts of violence and property damage across the nation. Some Republicans have sought to designate Antifa as a terrorist group before, with Senators Bill Cassidy and Ted Cruz attempting to pass a nonbinding resolution in 2019.

Labeling Antifa as a terrorist group will likely give the President and his administration more tools to combat far-left violence throughout the nation. As the Trump administration fights radical leftist extremism, let’s pray for them!
