From The Daily Wire:
The Biden administration restricted oil exploration and drilling across 13.3 million acres of the National Petroleum Reserve of Alaska (APR-A) last year in a move that angered industry, state, and tribal leaders. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum announced Monday that the Trump administration would reverse those rules.
āCongress was clear: the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska was set aside to support Americaās energy security through responsible development,ā said Burgum in aĀ statement. āThe 2024 rule ignored that mandate, prioritizing obstruction over production and undermining our ability to harness domestic resources at a time when American energy independence has never been more critical. Weāre restoring the balance and putting our energy future back on track.ā
Alaskan Representative Nick Begich celebrated the decision, thanking the administration for “recognizing Alaskaās extraordinary resource potential.”
At the same time, the Supreme Court recently issued a ruling in favor of fossil fuels, according to The Hill:
While environmental groups frequently describe projects ranging from coal mines to pipelines as ācarbon bombs,ā theĀ high court saidĀ in an 8-0 ruling that may not be the case ā finding in Seven County Infrastructure Coalition v. Eagle County that the projects themselves are not responsible for the upstream or downstream pollution for fuel or other products they simply transport or produce.
The justices narrowed the scope of environmental reviews taken by agencies when they determine whether to approve an infrastructure project ā and the grounds upon which such reviews can be challenged.
While the Trump administration is seeking to tap into unused energy in Alaska, the Supreme Court is clearing the way for more fossil fuel infrastructure. All of this supports President Trump’s goal to unleash American energy, as demonstrated by an executive order he signed in April.
As efforts like these continue, let’s keep our nation’s energy in prayer. Let’s ask God to give the Trump administration wisdom as its members seek to use our available fossil fuels in the best way possible.
