This past Wednesday, two Antifa militants were indicted by a federal grand jury for attacking an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in July. This indictment comes as the Trump administration is cracking down on Antifa and left-wing violence across the nation.

Issued on Wednesday, the indictment charged Cameron Arnold and Zachary Evetts with “providing material support for terrorism, attempting to murder federal and assisting officers and discharging firearms during attempted murders,” per Fox News.

FBI Director Kash Patel marked the moment as historic in a statement after the indictment was unsealed on Thursday.

“For the first time ever, the FBI has arrested anarchist violent extremists and charged these Antifa-aligned individuals with material support to terrorism,” Patel said. “This was a planned and coordinated terrorist attack on the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, where armed extremists tried to murder U.S. officers on July 4th.”

Director Patel said that “the FBI has made over 20 arrests tied to this case and related Antifa networks,” stating that “no one gets to harm law enforcement.” Attorney General Pam Bondi echoed this sentiment, referring to Antifa as a “left-wing terrorist organization” and promising that it “will be prosecuted as such.”

As the FBI works to arrest Antifa militants, other parts of the Trump administration have been targeting the group in different ways. The Treasury Department, for example, recently started encouraging financial institutions to “report suspected domestic terrorist activity” related to Antifa and other far-left groups.

Notably, FinCEN’s mandate includes combating both international and domestic financial crimes, including terrorism financing. This mandate could prove crucial as evidence points to Antifa and similar groups comprising a global network of far-left extremists. Any unlawful financial activity identified through these efforts would be referred to the Department of Justice for further action (DOJ).

As the Pulse noted, these efforts follow President Trump’s labeling of Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization in September. This designation has enabled the Trump administration to take strong action against the far-left militants making America unsafe.
