Yesterday, a transgender individual opened fire on a Catholic school in Minneapolis, killing two children and injuring 17 other people.

The man who shot and killed two Catholic children and injured 17 other people at a Minneapolis Catholic school has been identified by authorities as “Robin Westman,” a transgender-identifying 23-year-old who posted radical videos in the hour before his attack.

This individual identified as a woman and changed his name from Robert Westman to Robin Westman in 2020, as The Washington Free Beacon’s Peter Hassan reported. Court filings show that Westman’s mother signed off on the name change, since her son was a minor, and the documents state that Westman “identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification.”

At around 8:30 AM yesterday, Westman fired through the windows of the Annunciation Catholic School’s church. He ended up killing two children, ages 8 and 10, and injuring 17 others before he took his own life in the parking lot.

Information trickled out yesterday as police and reporters learned more and more about the shooter. While Westman’s specific motive remains unclear, his attack does appear to have been ideologically motivated. The Daily Wire shared a video posted the morning of the attack, in which Westman flips through a notebook, whispering to himself and giggling all the while, before branding a firearm and finally saying, “it’s all over.” You can click here to watch the video, but be warned: it is exactly as disturbing as it sounds.

By Wednesday afternoon, FBI Director Kash Patel had confirmed that the FBI was investigating the shooting as “an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics,” according to the Daily Wire.

Many will find this story familiar. It is certainly reminiscent of the March 2023 Covenant School Shooting, in which a transgender individual killed six people, three children and three staff members, in Nashville, Tennessee, before taking her own life. It does not seem to be a coincidence that both shooters identified as transgender and attacked Christian schools.

More information will likely come out over the next few days and weeks, especially as the Trump FBI investigates. For now, however, let’s pray. Let’s ask God to bless and comfort those affected by this attack and let’s pray for an end to anti-Christian hate and violence in our nation.
