A recent House Oversight Committee hearing titled Transgender Lab Rats and Poisoned Puppies: Oversight of Taxpayer Funded Animal Cruelty, brought to light shocking revelations about the relentless torture of countless animals in experiments funded by U.S. taxpayers.

Chairwoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) and members of the subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology and Government Innovation listened to disturbing testimonies from Justin Goodman, Senior Vice President of Advocacy and Public Policy for the White Coat Waste Project (WCWP), as well as Dr. Paul Locke, a Department of Environmental Health and Engineering professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Elizabeth Baker, Director of Research Policy for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Much of the testimony was difficult to stomach as witnesses described outrageous, painful procedures that were performed on defenseless animals. Two such examples included beagle puppies that were injected with cocaine and sex-change experiments performed on mice, rats and monkeys.

Transgender Mice and Chemsex

During the hearing, Congresswoman Mace shared that the Biden-Harris administration spent $2.5 million taxpayer dollars to study the fertility of transgender mice. Specifically, 1.1 million was spent “to find out if female rats receiving testosterone therapies to mimic transgender men were more likely to overdose on a party drug commonly used in the LGBTQ community to induce drug fueled chemsex.” Federal funds were also used to forcibly transition male monkeys to see if hormone therapy made them more susceptible to HIV.

Mace, who referred to these animals as “God’s creatures,” appeared visibly upset as she explained that some of the experiments involved surgically mutilating animal genitals, while terms such as “gender affirming care” were used to describe them.

Animal Experiments Do Not Benefit Humans

Mace continued, citing, “It’s well-known that because of the differences between animal and human biology, animal testing frequently does not produce results relevant for humans –90% of novel drugs that are successful in animal tests fail in human clinical trials.” She stressed, “Today most of the 27 NIH institutes and centers conduct or support animal testing, as does the Food and Drug Administration, Department of Agriculture, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, and countless other agencies.”

White Coat Waste Project spokesperson Justin Goodman explained that “the U.S. government is not only the single largest funder of animal testing in the country, but in the world…over 20 years ago, the NIH budget doubled and animal testing skyrocketed…It’s estimated that over 20 billion dollars a year of taxpayer money is still wasted annually on ineffective and inhumane tests on tens of millions of puppies, kittens and other animals.”

Even the NIH has stated, “Animal models fail to mimic disease or predict how drugs will work in humans, resulting in much wasted time and money.”

Inhumane Research is Funded by Government Agencies

The White Coast Waste Project organization files hundreds of FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests every year to glean information about how tax dollars are being spent. Long hours of investigation expose the details of wasteful, brutal experiments. One disturbing example included a ten million dollar DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) grant where cats had marbles shoved up their rectums and were electroshocked to make them defecate in constipation experiments. Millions more were squandered to sever cats’ spinal cords in order to study erectile dysfunction.

Additionally, over 240 million dollars in NIH grants for transgender animal experiments have been discovered. Some experiments investigated how hormones used for human gender transitions impact the size and shape of animals’ genitals. Goodman testified that “95% of this funding came from Dr. Fauci’s NIAID (National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases).”

The WCWP is best known for exposing NIAID’s funding of dangerous gain of function animal experiments at the Wuhan lab. It also proved that American tax dollars were being spent on “reckless gain-of-function experiments on humanized mice in violation of U.S. policy.”

Cruel Experiments on Beagles and Kitty Cannibalism

In previous years, WCWP has reported on Fauci’s funding of experiments with beagle puppies  that were drugged and locked in cages so that biting flies could eat them alive. Newly-released records show that experiments approved by Fauci included a four-million-dollar project that “poisons beagle puppies in ‘maximum tolerated dose’ tests for experimental drugs.” According to lab contracts, the beagles were chosen because they are “docile, cute and easy to domesticate.”

Discussions at the hearing about “kitty cannibalism funding” and the USDA’s “grotesque practice of purchasing dog and cat meat from China to feed to lab dogs and cats in the U.S.” made many stomachs turn.

In their quest to unveil the truth, WCWP has also acquired “videos and other evidence showing NIH-funded labs in China are crippling, maiming and executing beagles as young as one day old for barbaric experiments.” Currently there are at least 26 animal labs in China that are eligible to receive taxpayer funding from the NIH. These include “labs with ties to the Chinese government and military that conduct dangerous virus experiments that can cause pandemics.”

Aborted Babies Used in Animal Experiments

Perhaps one of those most gut-wrenching moments in the hearing came when Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert asked about experiments where aborted baby parts were implanted into lab animals. To this, Mr. Goodman answered, “We did an analysis a few years ago showing that over 90% of experiments using human fetal tissue and putting them in animals were funded by Fauci’s NIAID.”

It’s Time to End Wasteful Animal Experiments

There are many alternatives to animal testing which can produce viable results that are far more ethical and accurate when it comes to studying human biology, disease, drugs and treatments. Scientists now have the technology to replicate human organs in labs. Machine learning systems and artificial intelligence can analyze large sets of data and develop predictable models to help patients. 3D printing of human tissues and muscles can be used to test cosmetics, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Small engineered systems such as “organs on chips” can mimic real human organs.

A Plan to End Animal Testing

The WCWP unveiled a 4-point-plan for President Trump’s first 100 days in office that will not only cut wasteful government spending, but also save millions of animals. This plan includes:

• Defunding dog and cat labs
• Defunding Chinese animal labs
• Reinstating Trump’s EPA animal test phaseout (which he began during his last term in office)
• Abolishing Fauci’s animal labs

The issue of unethical animal experimentation is a bipartisan issue with both Republicans and Democrats agreeing that something must be done. Elon Musk, the head of DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), commented that the experiments described in the hearing were “terrible.”

The Word of God tells us that we are to be good stewards of the earth and the beautiful animals that He has placed under our care.

Genesis 1:26 declares, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Prayer Points Regarding Animal Testing

1. Pray that the unnecessary, cruel testing of animals would be stopped.
2. Pray that the funding for the wasteful, harmful testing of animals would dry up.
3. Pray that God would direct President Trump and DOGE to the best path for ending animal experimentation.
4. Pray that ethical, godly alternatives to animal testing would be fostered, funded and utilized.
5. Pray that the White Coat Waste Project and other organizations like it, will continue to uncover wasteful spending.
