Deceive: to cause to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid. The etymology of the word deceive reveals that this synonym for lie derives from the Latin decipere, which means “to ensnare, take in, beguile, or cheat.”

In today’s world, the traps of the deceivers are always ready to ensnare anyone who lets down their spiritual guard. As facts are twisted and truth is muddled, it’s important that one’s discernment is vigilant and biblically-centered.

The Leftist Version of Christianity

The first lie told by the Left this week comes from a Democrat who claims to know the truth of God’s Word. Unfortunately, his words tell a very different story. Texas Representative James Talarico, who is touted by Leftists as a “devout Christian,” appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast and condemned the “religious right” for their anti-abortion/anti-gay stances. Talarico is currently enrolled at Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, but he asserts that, “For the last 40-50 years, the religious right has made a concerted effort to make homosexuality and abortion the two biggest issues for Christians…This idea that to be a Christian means you have to be anti-gay and anti-abortion, there really is no historical, theological, biblical basis for that opinion.”

Talarico’s assertions are quite shocking to most Christians who know that God forms life in the mother’s womb. Jeremiah 1:5 states, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,” while Psalm 139:13-14 declares, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

When it comes to homosexuality, the Word of God is clear. It is a sin. Romans 1:24-25 states that homosexuality dishonors the body and “exchanges the truth for a lie.” Verses 26 and 27 describe the act as contrary to nature and shameless.

Sex is a Spectrum?

While Representative Talarico’s recent comments are disturbing, this isn’t the first time he’s defied biblical truth. At a Public Education Committee meeting in 2021, he said, “The one thing I want us all to be aware of is that modern science obviously recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes…in fact, there are six.” He specified, “The point is that biologically speaking, scientifically speaking, sex is a spectrum, and oftentimes can be very ambiguous.”

Christians know that God is never ambiguous. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them, Genesis 1:27. This verse is very clear. There are two biological sexes: male and female. Talarico’s reference to “modern science” should be termed “pseudoscience” because recognizing six sexes is irrational and erroneous.

Posting the Ten Commandments is Un-Christian?

In 2023, Talarico spearheaded the opposition to Senate Bill 1515, which would “amend state law to mandate a display of the Ten Commandments in Texas elementary and secondary schools.” He believes that a bill which requires that the Ten Commandments be posted is “un-American, deeply un-Christian,” and even “idolatrous.”

Objections to the Ten Commandments often come from those who do not honor God or understand the importance and meaning of His Word. The confused Left wants the world to believe that murdering babies, practicing homosexuality, and celebrating endless numbers of genders is “Christian.” The truth is that people who believe this are terribly deceived. We should pray that they would repent and realize that these sinful practices lead to debauchery, disillusionment, and death.

Dangerous Blood Libels

The next lie told by the Left this week is serious and destructive. Left-wing news outlets continue reporting that Israel is deliberately causing a “famine in Gaza.” This rhetoric is fueling antisemitism around the globe, as Jewish people are being ruthlessly attacked and called “fascist scum.”

News sources like the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) and the New York Times are some of the biggest propagators of this blood libel, which “casts Israel as an evil and murderous state.” Leftists contend that “a reckoning is coming” for Israel, where its “war crimes” will be revealed and a Palestinian state declared.

Melanie Phillips, A British journalist and broadcaster, explains that “the propaganda onslaught consists of three major libels: that the IDF is deliberately killing Gazans queuing for food, that Israel is starving Gazans to death, and that ‘settler violence’ against Arabs is increasing in the disputed territories of Judea and Samaria.” She adds, “All three claims seek to turn Israel from being the target and victim of genocidal attack into a murderous criminal entity that doesn’t deserve to survive. It’s a propaganda onslaught mounted by Hamas acting in concert with its allies in the United Nations and the entire global humanitarian establishment, pumped out through a media megaphone and parroted by politicians who are either malevolent or clueless.”

United Nations Agencies are Blocking Aid

The IDF’s aid division (COGAT) continues sending thousands of aid trucks filled with food and supplies into Gaza, but the United Nations and its agencies have refused to distribute much of the food and other aid. Phillips stresses, “that’s because it’s working hand-in-glove with Hamas, which is determined to cause deaths from starvation as a weapon of war just as it’s used Gaza’s civilians as human shields and cannon fodder.” Their strategy is that the more Gazans who die, the more the world will blame Israel.

Joel C. Rosenberg, Editor of All Israel News, an online platform which analyzes world events from a biblical perspective, explains, “Israel purposefully and actively facilitates the arrival and delivery of massive amounts of food and other humanitarian aid into Gaza. Since the fall of 2023, Israel Defense Forces has made it possible for 94,000 truckloads of food to enter Gaza. That’s enough to feed two million people for two years. Hundreds of trucks continue to enter Gaza…the IDF reported that 52 pallets of aid were airdropped into Gaza with cooperation from the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. Meanwhile, the new American aid group–the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), run by Dr. Johnnie Moore, a devout Evangelical Christian–has delivered some 90 million meals to Gazans in just the past two months.”

Hamas Steals Aid Meant for Gaza

Video footage published by the IDF shows Hamas terrorists taking over an aid truck. In footage filmed on July 25, 2025, “armed Hamas terrorists are seen violently looting humanitarian aid that had been transferred to the Gaza Strip, preventing it from reaching the civilian population of Gaza.” It’s also important to understand that Hamas regularly kills Gazan citizens, but those deaths are often wrongfully attributed to the IDF.

All Israel News reports, “Mounting evidence shows that widespread starvation, malnutrition, and disease are driving a rise in hunger-related deaths,” but the majority of the blame for this falls squarely on the shoulders of Hamas because it steals the aid to resupply itself.

Unfortunately, the Left does not vet their sources or try to uncover the full details of the crisis in Gaza. Instead, they take their talking points from Hamas and Qatar, who officials say are just two of the many forces driving the propaganda machine.

The Left wants the world to believe that the IDF is purposefully starving Gazans, but the truth is that Hamas starves its own people. This is a war of propaganda, and the Left is eating it up. We must pray that their bold-faced lies continue to be exposed because they are stirring up hate and widespread deception.

Planned Parenthood’s Largest Facility is Closing

The third lie told by the Left this week involves the closing of Planned Parenthood’s largest abortion facility in America. Their Gulf Coast centers, two of which are in Houston, Texas, will shut their doors. Included is Planned Parenthood’s massive 78,000-square-foot Prevention Park facility, which was once the “largest abortion center in the Western Hemisphere.”

LifeNews reports, “The closures, set for September 30, come amid financial pressures and political challenges, leaving four other Houston-area clinics to be acquired by Planned Parenthood’s largest Texas affiliate.” Planned Parenthood has cited “rising costs, staffing shortages, and low reimbursement rates” as the reason behind the closures.

Melaney Linton, the president of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, calls the decision to close the facilities “heartbreaking, infuriating, and the direct result of political attacks.” She laments, “Having to reduce the PPGC’s future footprint in Houston is heartbreaking.”

It’s disturbing that “heartbreaking” is the word used to describe the closures because Planned Parenthood’s Gulf Coast facility in Houston is the notorious site where undercover footage released by the Center for Medical Progress revealed the brutal treatment of the unborn.

Babies Sold for Their Parts

Live Action, an organization dedicated to educating the world about the horrors of abortion, describes what happened. “Undercover investigators posing as fetal tissue buyers asked technicians at the Houston Planned Parenthood mega-abortion facility if there were any ‘fresh specimens’ they could evaluate. A Planned Parenthood employee laughed and said, ‘We had a really long day, and they’re all mixed up together in a bag.’ She said if she’d been given a warning about the buyers’ visit, she ‘would have saved something’ for them to see before freezing the dead bodies. After some discussion, the Planned Parenthood employees decided to open the freezer to extract the body of a 20-week twin from early in the day to demonstrate how ‘intact’ the ‘specimen’ was — in other words, how many organs of the five-month-old preborn baby were not mutilated beyond recognition when the child was killed in the abortion.”

The CEO of 40 Days for Life, Shawn Carney, is thrilled that these abortion centers are being shuttered. “This is massive news for the pro-life movement and shows the direction that Planned Parenthood is going, which is down,” he asserts. Many pro-life advocates contend that the closures prove that Planned Parenthood is vulnerable in a post-Roe v. Wade America, where Texas banned abortions after the 2022 Supreme Court decision. Also, as organizations like 40 Days for Life offer women alternatives to abortion, there are fewer of them who see this murderous practice as the only way.

The Left wants you to believe that closing abortion centers is “heartbreaking.” The truth is that abortion breaks the heart of God. The precious lives of unborn babies are worth saving! Let’s pray for more abortion centers to close down and for the behemoth that is Planned Parenthood to be completely defeated.

Lord Jesus, our hearts break when we see and hear all the lies that are encircling us. Please give us clear discernment so we can always find the truth in a world filled with deception.
