“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” These days the Left and their liberal media allies are doing everything they can to fool people into believing their lies. Thankfully, not everyone is falling for the rhetoric. A little research and thoughtful discernment always lead to the truth.

This past week the Left did their best to confuse and manipulate. From immigration to education, their stories were spun from a deceptive yarn. It takes some careful unraveling to see the holes in their narratives.

Perhaps the most outrageous lie floated in the past week comes from the daughter of Minnesota Democrat Governor Tim Waltz. Recently, she released a TikTok video where she claims that “if Jesus Christ visited the United States, the Trump administration would deport him and claim he was part of a deadly gang.”

Violent Gang Members Praised

Her comments are believed to be a reference to Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a 29-year-old illegal alien who was deported to his home country of El Salvador. Garcia is suspected of being a member of a violent gang called MS-13, which is designated as a foreign terrorist organization. Additionally, Homeland Security alleges that Garcia was involved in human trafficking, and records show that his wife filed a protective custody order against him in 2021 stemming from abuse. As of April 22, a GoFundMe account to support the Abrego Garcia family has reached more than 90% of its $290,000 goal.

Democrats have latched on to Garcia’s plight, insisting he’s a “Maryland family man” who was wrongly deported by the Trump Administration. Democrat Senator Chris Van Hollen visited Garcia in El Salvador using taxpayer money and falsely claimed that he’s “an American,” even though Garcia admits he entered the country illegally.

Border Czar Tom Homan reacted saying, “A U.S. Senator traveled to El Salvador on taxpayers’ dime to meet with a MS-13 gang member…How many Angel Moms and Dads has he met in the state of Maryland?”

Democrat Representatives Robert Garcia, Maxwell Frost, Yassamin Ansari, and Maxine Dexter also traveled to El Salvador to meet with Garcia, demanding that he be flown back to the United States in accordance with a Supreme Court order. It should be noted that all four representatives voted against the Laken Riley Act which requires federal immigration authorities to detain illegal immigrants found guilty of theft-related crimes, and allows states to sue the federal government on behalf of their citizens for not enforcing border laws.

While the Left wants people to believe that Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a wrongfully deported American family man, the evidence points to the contrary.

Teen Charged with Murder is Called a Hero

Another deceptive narrative spun by the Left involves a 17-year-old African American teen named Karmelo Anthony. The young man is charged with murdering Texas high school star athlete Austin Metcalf at a track meet in Frisco on April 2, 2025. While many believe that Anthony should be sent to jail, there are others who support his actions and demand his freedom. One X user posted, “Karmelo Anthony will be a free young man soon.” Another supporter declared, “You are an anti-bullying hero, a scholar and a gentleman.”

A viral video proclaimed that Metcalf “got exactly what he deserved – point blank, period,” while another post asserted that Anthony acted in “self-defense,” just like Kyle Rittenhouse and Daniel Penny.

Since the incident where Anthony stabbed the unarmed Metcalf in the chest, supporters from the far-left have increased, with Anthony’s family raising more than $500,000 on GiveSendGo. Additionally, Anthony was released on bond April 14. Originally set at one million dollars, it was reduced to $250,000, according to court records.

Shortly after his release, it was discovered that Anthony’s family was living in a $900,000 home in an exclusive gated community, despite claiming financial hardships. A new car had been recently purchased as well.

Jeff Metcalf, the father of the slain teen, had his home “swatted” soon after attending a press conference hosted by an activist group representing the Anthony family called Next Generation Action Network. “Swatting is when a 911 call is made, usually to report a fake violent crime, to get police and sometimes even SWAT teams, to respond to the address given by the caller. It has increasingly been used as an intimidation tactic to target high-profile individuals and political rivals.”

Attorney Alan Dershowitz commented, “If the racial factors were reversed, if a white man had killed an unarmed black man, everybody would be on the reverse side of this.”

Metcalf’s father says he has forgiven Anthony for stabbing his son, adding that he feels sadness for his son’s killer because he made a mistake that will change his life forever.

The Left is working hard to convince the public that Anthony is the victim when the truth is that an unarmed teenager was brutally murdered in broad daylight. This young man was not stabbed in the heart by a “gentleman” who deserves immunity for his actions. In this case, justice must be served for the true victim, Austin Metcalf.

Higher Education or Bigger Tales?

Stirring up dissension is the Left’s number-one play. The most prestigious colleges have become instrumental chess pieces in this all too familiar game. Recently Harvard University had over two billion in grants and $60 million in contracts frozen by the Trump Administration for blatantly refusing to end their DEI programs, adopt merit-based hiring and admissions practices, and combat antisemitic behavior on campus. In light of the university’s resistance, President Trump has called for Harvard to lose its tax-exempt status.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “Unfortunately, Harvard has not taken the President and the administration’s demands seriously. All the President is asking, ‘Don’t break federal law, and then you can have your federal funding.’”

The left-leaning Harvard has mounted a full-scale resistance to President Trump’s demands. Harvard President Alan Garber stated that the university would not, “surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights.”

Though Harvard’s president asserts that the Trump Administration is trying to tell the university what it can teach, who it can admit and hire, or which areas of study it can pursue, the demands given to Harvard are focused on discontinuing DEI, ending antisemitic harassment, enforcing student discipline policies, ending the funding of student groups that promote criminal activity or violence, and ensuring that hiring is based on merit rather than identity or ideology.

In full defiance, Harvard is suing the federal government and the case has been assigned to U.S. District Court Judge Allison Burroughs, an Obama nominee who worked on a previous case involving the university.

Tucker Carlson commented, “Will that [Trump’s funding freezes] actually make a difference in the long run if Harvard’s endowment is $53.2 billion? Of course not…Republicans have a golden opportunity to get serious and revoke Harvard’s tax-exempt status. That’s the jugular that will severely wound the beast. If you force the universities to actually pay taxes on their obscene endowments, things on campuses will start to change.”

The Left wants Americans to believe that the Constitution gives citizens the freedom to harass and threaten Jewish students without impunity. They insist that diversity, equity, and inclusion are so essential that they can sidestep federal law. But their narrative has lost traction because reasonable Americans are fed up with the irrationality of it all.

The Left will keep on telling tales. But as intercessors we are called to pray for light to be shed on every situation, and for Jesus to turn the tables on all deceptions that enter our lives.

Lord Jesus, we pray that a spirit of truth would abound in our nation. We pray for eyes to see and ears to hear. Most of all we pray for a change of heart for those who choose to follow deceiving narratives, whether knowingly or unknowingly. You are the Way, the Truth and the Life. The Holy Spirit is the ultimate truth-teller.
