Cindi (name changed) is a prophetic intercessor with a powerful testimony of how God used her to impact a nation. Several years ago when she was visiting Israel, there was a heightened concern among many people (including politicians) that another world war could erupt due to increased tensions. The American military had their ships positioned in the water ready to intervene. England, along with other nations, was also standing ready to enter in the battle. Cindi was in Galilee at the time. As she sat in her hotel room one night, she turned on the news and heard the report of rumors circulating about a possible “third world war.” As she watched, she sensed the Lord saying to her, “I don’t want a third world war! This is not My agenda. It’s the enemy’s agenda.”

Then she heard the Lord speak to her in her spirit: “I want you to stop the third world war.” Cindi was a little bit shocked. “I never thought on the level of stopping a third world war,” she says. She pondered the request and asked the Lord how this could even happen. She had never considered that her prayers could be used to influence such a major event. Yet her faith in God was greater than any personal doubts. As she waited for a response, still wondering what she could possibly do to answer the Lord’s request, she decided to simply act on faith. She stood up in her room and made a simple declaration, “Devil, there will not be a third world war … in Jesus’ name.”

That was it. She said the wording wasn’t anything fancy. She simply agreed with what the Lord had told her—that there would be no war. She felt a peace in her spirit that she had been obedient to His directive.

Then she called a good friend who regularly puts out prayer alerts to intercessors around the world. She shared what the Lord told her and asked if he would get the word out to other intercessors to join in this simple declaration of faith. She suggested some Scripture promises to pray in order to come into agreement with the Lord’s plans for peace. The alert went out—and within 72 hours the entire thing dissipated. Tensions eased and the rumors stopped. There was no war. Peace reigned again for a time.

As Cindi considers what happened, she believes that had she not responded to the Lord’s invitation, He probably would have gone to another intercessor to make the same request. But she also believes that the breakthrough ultimately came through corporate agreement of many believers in the world who unified around God’s agenda. Her obedience to God’s voice, along with agreement from the Body of Christ, influenced a major world event.

“I knew I had a part. … I responded to Him … even though I didn’t think I knew how to do it. With child-like faith … I knew that a war was not the will of God,” says Cindi. She cites Matthew 16:19, which says, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (NIV). “If we don’t do something in the earth, heaven can’t back us up,” Cindi adds. “But what’s been accomplished through Christ is already established in the heavens. We can then decree that in the earth and heaven will back us up.”
