THE TRUTH ABOUT THE MEDIA

Lord, I thank you that you have given us influence. Let us be wise in how we use it and think of new ways to promote the gospel. I pray although the media is used for evil in many ways, that what is meant for evil, You would turn around and use for good. In Jesus’ name, amen.

With the increase in technology in recent decades, we have seen major upgrades in media. We no longer have to wait for subscriptions to be delivered to our homes or wait hours for the evening news. Now we simply open our cell phones or tablets and check social media feeds or read online subscriptions. There are a plethora of websites we can search at our fingertips. Unlike the years past, the “news” has become impossible to watch. When I was younger, I used to watch the news every night. But now there seems to be a clear agenda in the news. There is fear mongering, division, lack of fact-checking, and an obvious bias. These are the reasons I gave up watching most news channels. Whatever happened to the integrity of the media?

Media was intended for communication, connection, and promoting healthy relationships.   According to Bill Bright’s revelation in the 1970’s concerning the seven spheres of influence, Jesus Christ is intended to be revealed as the way, the truth, the life (Jn 14:6) in the media.

Because of such misrepresentation of truth, mainstream media is losing credibility among people, especially Christians. I have very strong feelings myself about false reporting, but I’ve learned that when the Lord asks me to pray over something, as an Intercessor I lay down my opinions and do what He says.

When asking the Lord in prayer how to pray for the media, I honestly felt stuck. I had no idea where to begin when a word came to my mind unveiling. The definition means the removal of a covering or veil. I then knew how I could pray for the media and sought Him for a Scriptures to pray.

Oh, send out your light and your truth—let them lead me. Let them lead me to your Temple on your holy mountain, Zion. (Ps 43:3 TLB)

That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it. (Jn 1:5)

Father, let your light shine in the media mountain. I decree Daniel 2:22, that you would reveal deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.

Light is powerful, but when light shines darkness disappears. I thank you that Jesus Christ is the light of the world. We want to hear and see the reports come in of amazing testimonies that He will be glorified throughout the media. Bring an unveiling of your glorious light so people will be filled with hope and not fear. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (Jn 8:32)

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. (Jn 17:17)

Father, I thank you that truth can always be found in you. Lord, I grieve over the lack of truth being presented to us. You said that lying lips are an abomination to you. I pray for every person in media and communications to have a personal revelation of the truth, Jesus Christ. I pray men and women with integrity and a fear of the Lord would fill these positions. I pray for boldness for Christians who already work in this sphere to stand for righteousness. Restore and sanctify this sphere with your truth, until it is the foundation. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Having information in the palm of our hands can be addicting. I know it has been a challenge for me. It’s not so much the news, rather an addiction to information. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad thing to be informed. It’s that we can sometimes become distracted by the many differing voices and opinions. Rather than relying on social media and channels to know everything our way, it would be more beneficial for us to seek God’s ways. We tend to want information. God wants transformation. We seek information, but God gives revelation. The greek word “apokalypsis” is taken from the title ” The Apocalypse of John” or Revelation. The word revelation means “unveiling,”  to make hidden things known, to reveal. Did you know one of the titles of the Holy Spirit is truth? Jesus told his disciples that the Holy Spirit would speak the truth and let us know what’s to come. Right now we are desperately looking for answers. So many voices reporting different things, I pray Spirit of truth, bring an unveiling. Reveal what is yet to come. In Jesus’ name.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (Jn 16:13)

Have you ever wondered why it’s so easy for the masses to believe the lies being spread?

The answer is found in Scripture.

But even if our Gospel (the glad tidings) also be hidden (obscured and covered up with a veil that hinders the knowledge of God), it is hidden [only] to those who are perishing and obscured [only] to those who are spiritually dying and veiled [only] to those who are lost.

For the god of this world has blinded the unbelievers’ minds [that they should not discern the truth], preventing them from seeing the illuminating light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ (the Messiah), Who is the Image and Likeness of God.

(2 Cor. 4:4 AMP-C)

For one it says that the gospel message is hidden to those who are lost. They don’t understand that they are veiled. Satan, the god of this world, has blinded them to the truth. This is why they cannot see the goodness of God or understand the good news of Jesus Christ. This is why when the truth, not just about Jesus but in any form, is presented they will reject it.

Father, we pray for those who are deceived and don’t even know it. Let the glorious light of Jesus Christ illuminate their darkness. Remove the veil from their hearts. Let scales of spiritual blindness fall from their eyes, so that when they are presented with truth they would understand. We know that Satan is a defeated enemy, so we declare victory over loved ones and the lost who are bound by deception. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Do you know how powerful the media is? It is capable of great influence for the kingdom. That’s why we need reformation in this sphere. Sometimes I study church history and I accidentally came across something really interesting. I learned that the media played a role in the Two Awakenings. “The Great Awakening” of the 1740s led by Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield saw mass salvations for many years. Eventually evangelical churches came to be and we saw religious freedom. According to the Constitutional Rights Foundation, “the revivals used newspapers, pamphlets, circulated letters and outdoor rallies to create a movement.” This was the 1700s, but they used the media to their advantage to spread the revival fire and it was successful.

By the end of the 18th century, people forsook their Christian values, that is until the Second Great Awakening took place. In the early 1830s, missionaries would evangelize through journalism. This provided much needed mass communication. It was one of many ways the gospel was spread. Charles Finney, a lawyer turned revivalist, used advertising to promote the gospel message. Isn’t that amazing? So much amazing fruit came from these awakenings, and yet the media played a part. America is overdue for an awakening. In those times they didn’t have the technology we now have. Just imagine what we could do with what we have.  How can we use media to promote the gospel? How should we use the media to spread awakening when it comes? These are questions we can ask the Lord in prayer.

  1. So grateful for this article as I was so upset last night by our mayor’s applause for VP Harris. Is she totally blind to the evil schemes of this woman or does she horror of horrors willfully support them? This article answers that question. I have to realize this world is not my own and I’ll be leaving soon. To heal from my information addiction maybe instead of AA there’s an IA group. LOL

But I need to set my timer once again and limit the time I spend listening to Christian news casts. I’ve had sobriety over the secular news since this 21 day Daniel Fast began. Yay!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. Love and prayers, Sharron from Canada

    Amen! 3
  2. After viewing some of the articles offered by IFA today and seeing how they have done a 180 now in admitting that President Trump was not the instigator of what happened before the election, but that it was planned resistence begun months before the elections, then I understood why God had me reading only headlines and seeing outright lies. During that time I felt the Lord was closing media down, especially social networking so we would be forced to sit back and REST IN THE RESET. As we seek him and His Word each will find their way clearly defined.

    Amen! 4
  3. Mainstream Media like CNN,MSNBC, CBS, ABC, and NBC have longed partnered with the leftist, Socialist, Democrats to broadcast disinformation, lies and Fake News.

They have partnered with a one party government that is now in power to help form a totalitarian, dictator regime.

Any reporting they do is strictly biased to only one party, the leftist Democrats.

They blatantly lie and consistently refuse to report any facts or truths. When caught in outright lies, they simply make up the most ludicrous, unbelievable excuses, just like their false reporting.

Millions of Americans are witnessing this first hand with their refusal to report on voter fraud. Their lies against President Donald Trump. Refusal to report on the Hunter Biden and Biden family scandalous connections to foreign governments, that placed millions of dollars into the hands of the Biden Crime Family.

And now Fox News has joined the ranks of Fake News. No wonder milllions of Americans that are searching for real truth and unbiased reporting are turning to Newsmax, OAN, EPOCH TIMES and other conservative, credible news sources to get real news they can depend on.

We see the same thing happening with Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, YouTube and Google in an all out assault on free speech.

Millions of Americans have woken up from their slumber, and millions more will continue to wake up and denounce and leave these biased, unreliable, untrusted sources that constantly spew disinformation.

We have already seen this recently, when Twitter permanently censored President Donald Trump, only to cost them billions of dollars as their market shares plummeted.

The same thing is already starting to happen with the Fake News and Big Tech Social Media outlets.

The once king of the News Media Block, Fox News, has fell from grace and is getting beat by their enemies like CNN and MSNBC.

Newsmax is also beating them in the ratings.

This is what happens when you consistently lie to the American people. They eventually leave you in the dust.

    Amen! 13
  4. I prayed right along on all subjects, but mostly for the media to be awakened to what they are missing & what
they have done that is wrong publishing to sway the public to their view.

    Amen! 10
  5. There’s an amazing analogy between the late 15th century church & the government today. The church had grown too large, too powerful, too corrupt & too expensive to maintain . The invention of the printing press did them in & people became more literate . Now our government has grown too large, too powerful, too corrupt, too expensive to maintain & now the flow of information on the internet will do them in. Yes, God does use media to reveal to us what we need to know.

    Amen! 12
  6. God does see and uses us to bring forth his purposes. I do believe all forces aligned with darkness will be judged and media and tech fall into this category. I do not know how this will happen but I trust God. God is truth and I decree there will be a rise in truthful investigative reporting. God bless the Epoch times for stepping out in this area. LOrd give us more passion and boldness to bring forth your truth in this season of increasing persecution and guide us when to speak and decree and when to be silent. I decree your truth is marching forth. I bind the demonic spirit of Leviathan that would seek to twist the truth. God’s truth is marching on and on and on and cannot be stopped. As truth is marching on so is the army of God. We know the truth and the truth sets us free from attempted communistic domination. I decree this is a season of unmasking and the truth is coming forth like a mighty rushing wind out of the ekklesia.

    Amen! 28
  7. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 ESV

While reading this Scripture, I’m seeing how the media has been used as a tool by the cosmic powers to spew it’s lies and confusion over the airwaves. Creating a present darkness over the land.

May God who is all powerful, all knowing, and everywhere, turn this means of doing harm through the use of media and airwaves into spreading truth, love, unity, the Good News, hope, and the abundant life found only in His kingdom. Turning it around for good.

May God’s Holy Word be powerful and quick in changing hearts, rebuilding, and repairing relationships with Him and our brothers and sisters. May the message of Jesus, and biblical truth be taught in more boldness and power than ever before.

To God be the glory, honor and praise. Thank You Jesus for loving us all!

    Amen! 27
  8. Dear Lord Jesus, I pray that you will give all the prodigals in the media and in journalism, a powerful encounter with Your Holy Spirit – like the way Moses had a sudden “burning bush” moment while he was working as a shepherd. May these returned prodigals be used mightily by You and your kingdom work as Moses was used at age 80 to free your beloved people out of Pharaoh’s powerful oppression in Egypt. Open their stuttering and timid mouths to speak, write and publish what You want them to say. May their pens be like Moses’ staff under Your anointing. In Jesus’ name 🙏

    Amen! 41
  9. Lord, you are the Truth and we need to hear and read the truth. By the wisdom and direction of the Holy Spirit, tear down the veils that keep us from the truth that have been put up by the media. Touch the false hearted journalists with your mercy so that they don’t use their position as activists for evil but for God. Show us what we can do to help. How can we be an instrument for Good in this fallen world? Amen

    Amen! 35
  10. Father, when I think of media I think of the various “channels” from which information flows. Digital channels, via the internet … print channels via magazines, newspapers, mail … channels via television …. Lord, I pray that you would flood the media with Your people and that Your people who are already there, in each of these channels would rise up in Your power so that each of these “channels” become like streams of living water, filled with Truth that flows from Your throne to nourish and fill Your people. Let Your Kingdom come and Your will to be done via these various channels so that all may come to the saving knowledge of Your Son before His return. It is in His mighty name, I pray. Amen.

    Amen! 33
    1. Lord, we also ask You to strengthen the hearts of those in the media who are speaking Your truth. Continue emboldening them to speak and cover them with the blood of Jesus. Protect them from the influencers of wickedness who will speak out to attempt to destroy these warriors of Yours. Grant that the voices of Your warriors will not be shut down, but instead will shout from the tops of the mountains. Continue to unveil the wicked lies of the enemy and pour out Your truth through the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name. Amen!

      Amen! 27
  11. I also pray for many in journalism suffer from alcoholism and other addiction. Many in media are so lost in addiction living in pain. May the Lord Jesus reach out and touch their wounded hearts with his love. Amen

    Amen! 33
