Amid the political morass today, an unspoken tension looms. A contentious and divisive spirit hovers over our nation, even among those who profess Christ. I refer to these days as B.A.D., full of Bitterness, Anger, and Division. Within the side of “Right,” anyone who might even remotely suggest that our nominated candidate is not perfect may expect excoriation for having voiced their concerns. Such forced silence and feigned unity are unhealthy. It is equally unhealthy to place any candidate under such a heavy weight of performance as if they were a savior. The fears of losing this election have caused many to unwittingly shift their eyes from Jesus and the hope of the gospel to this single campaign and this single candidate.
Sadly, many in the body of Christ today are being motivated by this fear. They appear to see this election as the linchpin to the future of the world, to the point that a move of God is virtually tied to a single candidate. And with this fear comes a very subtle deception that brings one of the biggest threats we face today. It is an almost pervasive yet unspoken moratorium on political dissent, or any statement viewed as potential criticism, no matter how truthful or constructive it may be. Such a moratorium on free speech is extremely dangerous. We must never cease to boldly speak out about what is right and wrong, or we risk ceasing to be salt and light.
So, too, we must stay engaged in the political process, even when it becomes clear that we and our views are not wanted. We must stay at peace, persuaded that the One directing our steps will never speak to us out of fear. He can’t, for He is perfect Love, and perfect Love casts out ALL fear. We must speak the truth in love, never succumbing to personal character assassinations. Finally, we must not let anyone — the enemy, our friends, family, or even our brothers and sisters in Christ — convince us that if we speak out about what is wrong, we could single-handedly destroy the future of the world. In truth, our only hope is to raise our voices with the heartfelt prayer that they will eventually be heard.
Admittedly, I have witnessed over the decades the repeated dismissal of Christian principles while Christian votes are simultaneously taken for granted. I even witnessed this from within the party as an elected member of the Republican National Committee. I have encountered the repetitive taunting of politicians silently declaring, “Watch us stab you in the back because where else are you going to go?” The proverbial can continues to be kicked down the road as we win battle after battle (elections), while losing the war (the morality of our nation.) So, where does that leave us? Quite simply, all the more, we MUST continue to be the squeaky wheel.
I am sure some will still say, “But if you point out any shortcomings Trump may have, then he may lose, and if we lose this election, it will be the end of the world!” To those, I would say every candidate throughout the centuries has used that same fear tactic.
We must not let ourselves be silenced from speaking the truth out of fear. Jesus is Truth, and Christ is greater than any election. Yes, we earnestly pray to be spared from the bondage of a godless administration for another 4 years. But, equally as important, we must remain free to express our concerns. After all, a world where voicing concerns is deemed unacceptable is a world of dictatorial tyranny that disregards our unalienable rights of both free exercise and free speech. Do we really want to voluntarily succumb to such a world out of fear? And, if we do, have we not already lost?
Finally, there is one prayer for President Trump that I have not heard nearly enough. We must pray that he will replace any overtly anti-Christian political advisors with those who will boldly give him sound and wise advice, even when it is not what he may prefer to hear. I have seen many people so awe-struck with the power and popularity he wields that all they want is to be near him. When allowed to speak into his campaign, they flatter rather than provide the godly input he needs. They perceive their proximity to him as a ticket to their advancement. Such people, hoping to ride his political coattails, are of no real benefit to him. Leaders throughout history have faced this same issue.
While Trump is not a Pharaoh, nor a King, nor an Emperor, the following examples can still be helpful reminders. He should seek people around him like those Joseph advised Pharoah to find. “Now, therefore, let Pharoah select a discerning and wise man.” He needs people who care enough to speak as candidly as Daniel did to Nebuchadnezzar, “So, my king, please accept my advice. I advise you to stop sinning and do what is right. Stop doing wicked things and be kind to poor people.” I am not saying that Trump needs to stop sinning, nor am I saying that he hasn’t been kind to the poor. What I am saying is that when any leader selects advisors whose ultimate goals are their own personal gains, such advisors will always agree or tickle ears, rather than speak the truth, which is why such advisors are worthless.
We must pray that the people President Trump surrounds himself with will not be typical politicians. Members of an echo chamber lose both perspective and truth like those in the story of the Emperor’s New Clothes. President Trump does not need advisors who fawn over him for their own political gain. Rather, he needs those willing to earn his ire, if necessary, to protect him by letting him know when and if he has no clothes.
So, for those interested, here is my practical advice, for what it is worth. We must NOT cease to point out when things aren’t godly. If a candidate is making wrong choices and we expose those choices, we are not responsible for the outcome by having pointed out the error. Rather, the candidate who made the misstep is the one responsible. Only by speaking out can we have any hope of assisting such a candidate from continuing further down a wrong path. Also, we must never allow the fear of reprisal to stop us from voicing our opinions. If we allow ourselves to be silenced from speaking the truth, then we have no hope of bringing accountability to the candidates for whom we pray.
Finally, we must never cease to pray for encounters with God for President Trump. We must pray for him to seek and find godly advisors; he needs advisors with wisdom and integrity who are willing to go against the flow and risk their personal and political advancement to be faithful to the truth. Valuable advisors should direct the one they advise toward the One they worship, and these two must never be confused.

Your thoughts are so encouraging to me because I have faced the exact pressure you mention from some very good people who have said our main objective is just to win this 2024 election. Their line of thinking is if you have a moral objection, ignore that and just trust God. He is in control and has used Cyrus and other such ungodly leaders fo accomplish His purposes. He can do that now again. I do trust God. But I cannot continue to enthusiastically encourage others to wholeheartedly support leaders who are in opposition to God’s clear moral directive concerning LIFE, I cannot continue to give monetarily either. I must speak and act according to God’s Word. My main objective is NOT to win this election but to win God’s approval (His “Well done”). I can do no other.

He has and the deep state has put many of them in prison. Just like what Donald says, they aren’t after me, they are after you.
He still has people openly hostile to Christians advising him. Look at what his campaign just did to conservative Christians at the RNC. Look at how his campaign just gutted the platform and made the Repuplican party look like the Democratic party of 2012.
Look at how he just attacked conservative Christian Bob Good in Virginia and supported his deep state opponent.
He rushed and pushed the Covid vaccine. He had Fauci and Brix advising him then.
It was an administrative order from his cabinet that made it possible for vaccine companies to give kickbacks to doctors, hospitals and to pay people with our tax dollars to take the vaccine.
He just said last night that it should be easier and quicker for the FDA to approve drugs.
He raised the national debt in his 4 years almost as much as Obama did in 8. He and his wife are avid supported of LGBT.
Obviously we can not support Harris, but Trump is not in a good place and has terrible advisors still.
Lord, we pray that you would protect his inner circle and bring Holy Spirit led advisors around him.

[email protected] You should check out Donald Trump’s social media site where has 7+million friends and 70 million followers. A lot of trolls and immoral women, of which just a handful of us fighting to remove. We consider him a fellow Christian gladiator, kind of like Benjamin Franklin. Fake news including fake news light at Fox paints the war in a different light. Of the 7 million friends over 100,000 are faithful armor bearers, of which I am one. An armor bearer doesn’t just carry armor, they are fighters. President Trump has challenged us to not sit idle in this war. Those on the sidelines are like those in David vs Goliath. Our weapons are not of this world but are mighty to pull down strongholds put in place by the likes of Carter, Clinton, Obama, Biden. We know Trump is human and so does he. He is our hero of this time and his actions have caused us to follow in his footsteps but many of us were hero’s before the real Trump stood up. Courageous men and women won’t stand in aquiecense.

Some or the difficult but honest advice trump needed actually came from mainstream media. But trump and many of his Christian supporters dismissed it as fake news which encouraged Trump to dig in, and become even more obstinate. Instead Christians pointed him to conservative media like Fox news which is actually fake news a lot of the time. Thats why such media were sued for defamation by Dominion and rather than prove their case in court Fox settled for a huge sum. Christians should acknowledge when conservative media lies and when mainstream media states the facts instead of just dismissing it as fake news to cover up for trump.

I praise God because I look at all the people who spoke down on me or prejudged me. I look back at all of those people who walked away from me and said hurtful words or did hurtful deeds behind my back and to my face. And I see God‘s goodness in all that, and because as a result, I became a stronger person. I became stronger because I found out that I can only rely on the Lord. I became stronger because I realize that the hurtful words people said to me, they were nothing in comparison to the empowering words that Jesus Christ says about me. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am the head and not the tail. I am blessed and highly favored. I am more than a conqueror. Those are words that I found to be true in my life through God‘s word!
Thank you for such a timely article. I have been so burdened for our country and the future of our country. I am astounded at where the current election stands. As a believer, I know that God is sovereign all things; yet, He gives us free will. I have been burdened to pray as never before for our country, the leadership of country, and the future of our country. We need Godly leadership in the White House. I am not suggesting that Donald Trump is sinless; yet, none of us are either. You judge a tree by its fruit. What we can see is the policies that he endorses. What we can see is his views are conservative and Biblical. We must consider God’s perfect Will and plan for our future. So many Christians feel that we should be silent as we risk being judgmental. There is a huge different in being judgmental and discerning. I cannot be silent and my most important message, “Pray for our nation. Pray for the candidates. Educate all voters on the TRUTH of the policies.” Speak the truth with love. This is not a battle between parties and candidates. This is a spiritual battle between good and evil, darkness and light, and God and Satan” PRAY, PRAY, PRAY AND VOTE as God leads through His Word and His Spirit.
Prayers for government are important but we need to watch putting the emphasis on them as all important. Its the humble repentant hearts and prayers of those who seek Him that cause changes in the heavens and set the atmosphere for good governance to take place. God’s Kingdom rules when it rules in our hearts, minds and actions and is over all the power of governance ultimately. There is no president that is powerful enough to save us from the dominion of satan that seems to be controlling now. Repenting, praying and standing in faith that God will Save us is all we can do that will matter. I believe He will do that using imperfect leaders and prayerful people. That’s the way all our wars have been won.
You are right Cynthia. The disdain for Conservative Christians by Republican Party elite has been as issue for a long time. The need our grassroots work, whilst despising our values. This was true for my Mother, who worked tirelessly for decades until MS made it impossible for her to continue. She was as uncompromising, as her father, a lone Conservative born in 1880 in West Virginia. I worked as a volunteer many years and then as a Legislative Assistant in the Virginia House of Delegates. We have ever faced an uphill battle with church, education and media institutions increasingly leaning left, and willful apathy among many. Still, many are awakening. We must not give in or give up. Your encouragement to continue wisely and diligently upholding the banner of Truth in the midst of the current flood is sound strategy for ultimate triumph, as the Lord gives.

We are not voting for a pastor, Mr. Congeniality, or, Mr. Perfect Christian. We are voting for someone that has the anointing and calling to bring down the deep state, the NWO, and get us out of the enslavement of the current banking system. It is, again, that I thank God for this very timely, and essential, commentary about operating in fear as we near this very important election for our country. I have often wondered who God is in the so-called Christians of our party leaders. It surely is a difficult line to walk in integrity with Godly principles, While the cacophony of the world and its values of self, blares in their ears, and is seen with their eyes. Greed and self love are powerful task masters. I pray greatly for the leaders of our country, including our Republican party nominee, President Trump, to see truth, which can only come through Jesus, the Christ. I pray that they will want that life of truth, and not just say it. I am reminded of the man in the mirror who forgets who he is (James 1:23,24). Or Jesus speaking in Matthew 12:33.

I believe that Ronald Reagan was also a very unique chosen by God president.. above and beyond just the normal biblical knowledge that tells us God chooses all candidates- and puts them in power.. but in our times of evil I believe the Lord needs a forceful personality in an evil battle-,to get the job done.
There is also been prophecy about this appointment to power in using Donald trump. And I just saw a video.. once again retelling the story of Donald Trump’s aunts, who used their Bible to help bring in the Hebrides Revival and how Donald Trump was named after a Godly Man that his aunt’s knew, named Don Smith- who was an on fire Christian, and president Trump was named after this man…. and there is a legacy there of prayer and Revival that foreshadows Donald Trump’s appointment to office, that cannot be ignored. I will send the video to IFA-, I hope they will post it.. I know this is not new news but it is definitely relevant. Donald Trump has never said he was a christian, I hate to have to say that again.. cuz it is such a worn out subject.. but he is in the process I believe the Lord has him in the process.. and remember it is not the point of whether or not Donald Trump can become a Christian as to whether or not he can do the job needed to be done.. the point is how he has acknowledged god.. acknowledged Israel.. and honored all that God would have a man do in the office of President of the United States
What I also do not understand is, – before Donald Trump entered the race for president and he was the popular businessman from New York- that walked the streets of New York doing favors for people, and handing out gifts to people- everyone loved him-, he was one of the most loved people on the planet. Now I say that kind of tongue in cheek- because I realized the reason people started hating him is because he took the office that he did -,and Satan did not want him there.. however the same person that everyone loved, because of his generosity and kindness- is still the same person that he is. Very well said! We will continue to pray for Trump to have God encounters, that Trump will seek wise counsel from those who listen to the Holy Spirit and have permission to share honestly with him.
I totally agree, if we can not speak the truth in love we shouldn’t speak at all. There are no perfect people no matter how charismatic the person is, if we are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and listen to His voice we should be able to pass it on, no matter how politically important or powerful they are!
I have been aware of politics since I first voted for John Kennedy. I believe that Trump may be the most moral and ethical nPresident we have ever had, at least since Reagan. No one is perfectly moral but when the democrates have been unable to find even one person Trump has worked with while building his great fortune whom Trump lied to or cheated, that is proof enough for me of his character.

The reason that everyone refers to president Trump as president Trump is because Joe Biden admitted in a video that maybe you did not see.. that they “have the best voter fraud system going” and he admitted this in one of his senile moments.. when he is like an adolescent talking to his friends in the gym, and is boasting about his achievements- and he said “yeah we got the best voter fraud system going”.. and we’ve got it wrapped up. This was approximately just before 2020 and. ’21. They installed Biden illegally the same way that Harris was just installed as the Democratic candidate without being nominated.. that is- illegally
Actually President Trump did win the election–by a landslide. We in California watched him win state after state until by 3 am he was leading in the crucial battleground (“swing’) states by huge margins–by 600,000 votes in PA and something like 250,000 in Michigan. Then something unprecedented and creepy happened. TV newscasters announce that the poll count had been stopped and poll workers were being sent home for the night. (WHO DOES THAT–LIKE SENDING ALL THE FANS AT THE SUPER BOWL HOME IN THE 4TH QUARTER WITH ONE TEAM WAY AHEAD?) But security cameras show ballots being brought in by the box load and run through counting machines. By morning, Biden was leading in every swing state. Vote-counting machines recorded “miraculous” load dumps of hundreds of thousands of ballots during the night–at 4:42 in Wisconsin, 6:31 in Michigan with 94% of them pre-marked for Biden–statistically impossible. . .
So you are half-right, God did allow Biden and Harris to claim victory and move into the Oval Office–but they did not win.

Thank you Cynthia for this badly needed article. This is the first time I’ve read anything devoted to praying for Donald Trump’s character and faith. I’ve never questioned his love for the nation. It is so strong and true. But his need to always “hit back harder than I was hit”, and his demeaning of so many has been very, very troubling to me. To see it addressed and discussed in these comments is so uplifting and encouraging ! To know the new prayer efforts that will result is wonderful.
Lord hear our prayers for Your movement in the life of all leaders running for the right to lead our country.

I would add a caution that we cannot connote the salvation of our nation with being governed by a particular man or party. Our republic and way of life is endangered by many of the current policies and practices of the current administration. But it is far more endangered by our sin – first that of the church, then that of the society.
So our primary focus must be on the establishment and growth of the Kingdom of God – both in us and through us, The Kingdom of God is not dependent on any earthly kingdom – it can flourish under any regime because it is not of this world. The persecuted church throughout the world testifies to that reality. Yes, let’s be responsible citizens and engage in whatever ways the Lord leads. But let’s not idolize any man or ideology, nor put our trust in them. YHVH alone is God, and we can trust Him regardless of who rules our nation.

I have also considered that our “excessive” focus on this one (critical) office also distracts us from all the other critical offices and candidates — at all levels from local, to state, to nnational. While speaking God’s truth has always had risk associated (e.g., Nathan and Jeremiah just to name two,) we MUST remain true to God and His word/perspective. God’s sovereignty is our inheritance. When former President Trump spoke against Gov. Kemp last week, it immediately hit me that he just lost Georgia. Now this week, I understand that there may be a political awakening between the two men. Personally, I pray the awakening has come not for political reasons, but from the HOLY SPIRIT with the awareness that coming together for the benefit of the Country as a whole would be much more preferable, and treating others with respect the same.
Gov. Kemp is not working for the Ga residents at all. I am frustrated by how easily people are swayed by the “shiny thing” /politician in the room. The use of labels/name-calling to chastise those who are on the opposing side into submission has become rampant. Christians and Republicans are most suseptible to such word games. And, because people refuse to talk to those across the political spectrum, refuse to risk the integration of people and ideas across political lines, therefore learning to trust each other, they chose to full disassociate personally and intellectually. A new segregation is alive and well in America as a a result.

I recently realized that “Trump will only stand if he yields to God’s will. If he does not yield, he will fall.” (In our time, this seems to be true for many others in, or potentially in, authority.)
Mr. Trump needs advisors who will help him discern God’s will for the decisions and actions he is to take and to impress upon him the consequences of yielding to God’s will or doing his own will.

When the voices of Conservative Christians were locked OUT of the NEW TRUMP GOP, not allowed to be on committees, when he endorsed the pharmakeia abortion pill, changed the GOP language concerning marriage and ALLOWED a PRAYER to a HINDU “one true god Vaheguru”–after it was JESUS CHRIST who saved his life…I understood WHY the Lord had been priming me way in advance to pray for him! He needs an earth shattering, undeniable one on one encounter with Christ BEFORE his sentencing. Let that be our prayer! I was ON the emergency prayer call on 7/5, when ALL the Conservative Christian leaders called Intercessors for Israel and BEGGED for prayer because they were “locked out of all committees with NO EXPLANATION. Dave Kubal confirmed they were credible and long standing members of the GOP and their concerns were VALID. We prayed but had NO IDEA how much change would be implemented by Trump and Lara Trump. I was ON a 4 hour prayer call with national and international intercessors and major Christians leaders, the night BEFORE the GOP was shifted by Trump. (7/7/2024) Both Lara and Eric NEVER mentioned during that entire time–that the conservative voice of Christians would be silenced, in order to shift to a PRO-CHOICE AGENDA. Gee! I wonder why they didn’t mention that! The advocating-accepting of the abortion pill–which both Trump and Vance accept–is NOT BIBLICAL. Deut. 30:19 says, “This day I call the Heavens and the earth as WITNESSES AGAINST you that I have set before you LIFE and death, BLESSINGS and curses. Dearest Heavenly Father: We ask Father that you send Mr. Trump people in his camp who KNOW and love you, that will help your Holy Spirit guide him in the direction YOU want him to go. Give him and his advisors discernment concerning which things to speak on. Help him remember what YOU have already brought him through and that it was YOU who protected him when armed guards standing beside him could not. In remembering that, help him choose to follow you and repay the favor by listening to your voice. I pray he will see that not every verbal assault requires a reply. Help him to learn (as I also have had to do) to curtail using his tongue as a weapon. Remind him that it is YOU who will defend and vindicate him. I agree with this observation. I often muse that President Trump listens to the wrong advisors or doesn’t listen enough. I know one thing, the advisors need to be loyal to him and the American people. Without God, no man or woman will be able to handle the reins of Government.
